Hearing Frank talk about his brother, the number 44 and the school for deaf as well as Frank connecting it later to his love of football--sounds like it started with his brother playing and teaching him the game. My questions for Frank... Did you teach your children sign language? How did your brother feel about Julians football career? What are you like at your grandkids sporting events? Specifically Julians daughters games since he has talked about her playing soccer on the podcast. Thanks! (mom of 3 girls)
I lost my Dad unexpectedly in March. Nice to spend time with father and son here. I’d sit just like Julian as my Dad went on tangents (with an embellishment here and there). I loved it. Pretty special to have a relationship like this with your father. I’m so thankful that I had one like it.
I so identify with Jules, obviously each of us at our own level. My dad was my football coach and was very similar to JEs dad. We lived in Mexico, and won championships over there, and I was that kid on the team that people were hoping would fail once I wasnt playing for my dad. Moved to the States and Had a good HS career, good JuCo career, and a mediocre D1 career, played a year in Europe, and became a teacher and a coach. I still talk to my pops about football, bbq, ask him for advice fixing stuff... Happy fathers day!!!!! Mr Edelman is a legend, he is da man!
It sucks that so many people have envy for people they think our given stuff but to do what you did is impressive. The speed of football even just dude I knew that only played h. S ball you can see the difference from those regulars. If I learned anything from watching podcast and TH-cam. As long as you give it your all and try it not failing you just weren't as successful as the most successful people that tried it but even what you accomplish you still beat out many people and their tons of people that wish they could of just had the h. S or college experience.
@@3brostaco Thanks, I appreciate your comment! I learned to just ignore the negative people, I wasnt going to please everyone, or any of those people anyway, so I just tried to be myself... but like you said anyone that played HS ball, that is a huge accomplishment bc football in general is a difficult game. It takes alot of time to master.
@@Fk0ff238hahaha... no man! no man! Football!... you sound like everyother dude I ever played ball with here in the states, they either asked me if i was in the right place; and would ask if I meant "futbol", or they would ask if I was a kicker, hahahaha... it was what it was...
It’s so fun how his accent and speech patterns are EXACTLY like his son. The bit from 9:53… the phrasing, the tone, it’s exactly how Jules talks. “Give me a gunslinger…. *Jesse James*”…and then “I’ll tell ya one thing: we looove Boston”. The script and the rhetoric style are identical. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree
So far my favorite Frank and Jules moment… Frank making a relevant point, I’m intensely listening too and Jules yelling “quit rambling, get to the point!!” Haha 😂 😂
When his dad looks at him at 19:28 and says “You remember that” brought a tear to my eye 😢. I’m 26 and my dad does this sometimes and just brings ya back man.
Its nice to have a father that cares... Looking forward to doing the same one day... Take what you have and remember what you were lacking... You can be the father you never had
Love what Coach said when he said he emphasized the sense of accomplishment that the kids grew during their first year. I'm a teacher and a coach, and I always talk to the kids about craving the feeling of accomplishment, that its the best feeling in the world, so you should always work at the things you feel you can't do because when you finally do it, you 've learned so much about what you are capable of doing when you push your limits.
This was a great episode!! It brought back so many memories of being in Redwood City!!! And the year 98, great movies and music. Papa Frank was awesome and an example of being a community leader. He needs to come back again.
I've known Frank for a long time and he is a cool Dude. When he ran his automotive repair shop, it was top notch and he was ultra competitive in that arena as well.
This was a great podcast!! I could listen to other football dads reminiscing all day!! All three of my sons played football and all three made it to Super Bowl in “B squad”. Loss a win and a loss. All seven years apart. My youngest just ended his youth career and he just yesterday had equipment pickup for freshman year. My time as a youth football dad are officially over and all I can do is sit back and reminisce. Eating dinner at the field. Practice starts at 5:30. If you show up at 5:30, you’re late! Show up at 5:00, calmly take the practice field and put your pads on, talk some shit with your teammates and coaches. Don’t be the kid who shows up at 5:30 running out of mom’s car with no pads on, shoes untied, no cup, forgot your mouth piece.
I played against JE in pop warner and high school. I remember they beat us in a pop warner PRE season game and when we were shaking hands after they beat us, his pops said “see you in the playoffs” lol. Definitely a dominant pop warner coach lol.
This podcast proves that athletes aren't just made or born, they are both made and born. Jules had innate talent but also a dad who recognized and nurtured it.
Love the whole team and the whole show. This is a dope episode. That's awesome you brought your dad out. I know how embarrassing that can be to have such a large following. Love ya pops!
I am from Redwood City Ca, dead middle between San Jose and San Francisco. He went to Woodside High, and I went to Serra, years before he was in high school. Serra is the home of Barry Bonds and Tom Brady. The two high schools are 20 min apart. Brady To Edelman was the San Mateo county connection…I was 4. Years after Barry and 6 before Brady..
Damn, this one got me in the feels, lost my dad this year. Been a Jules fan and fan of the pod forever. Glad to see Frank on a ep. Love the bond they got
Naperville was a powerhouse at football during that time. My cousin played for them in HS and I went to a game where Naperville North vs Naperville South was a top 5 nationally ranked game. Espn was even there. This was around 96.
It was nice to hear the mention of A&w. I'm about 10 years older than Jules so I wasn't even aware that they were still open when he was a kid. It was pretty big for a little while but it disappeared but back in the day it was kind of like what Sonic is. You would drive up and they would come out to you. I was always excited because even though I was a little kid I got to eat the Teen Burger which was a slightly bigger Burger than the kid Burger. The A&w Root beer that you got from this place was better than you could get it from the store or any other fountain drink restaurant. I can still remember going there probably in about 1975 ,74?? Good times.😊
Amen, thank you Frank. My sediments exactly regarding "No swearing". You know how many innocent ears have to listen to that. Thank you for putting your son in his place. Happy father's day 😅
I love this shit man, I’m from Santa Cruz CA and played for the SCPW team for 6 years and this brings me back to getting screamed at and run till we dropped 😂 good fuckin times. Glad to see my old program making a name for themselves too they play Redwood City regularly now. we were just getting into D1 when I was on my last years so I never got to play them.
The guys I played ball with as a child are still my closest friends to this day. It’s just a shame more of us didn’t have fathers or better fathers more of us could have got free education n probably went pro instead of chasing females n concentrating on the streets to make a living. One from our area went pro n got a ring for the colts. Gary Brackett. Then my boys son got signed to Miami but didn’t last long. Two other guys from our area had sons on the eagles.
Owen Daniels football life similar to Jules. Third string QB for a couple seasons at Wisconsin. Switches to TE. Becomes a huge part of the Badger offense. Then later a pro bowl TE for the Texans.
Its hard because I lost My Dad who really didn't want me before I was 8 from a heart attack while sleeping and I was playing in the same room I have never mention visit before now , I'm sharing because my birthday is JUNE 16TH,2024 THIS YEAR WHICH IS JUST SO HAPPENS TO BE FATHER'S DAY... What's your favorite Frank & Jules moment?⬇
Frank charging 100 bucks per swear 😂
Thanks for coming on, Frank! Happy Fathers Day 🎉
When Frank says Jules should be in the Hall of Fame. Nothing but facts.
Proudest moment, the Eagles punt return...

Love that Frank says WE so much when talking about Julian

Appreciate the love!!
I personally enjoy Billy Bob Edelmans rants. He’s thoughtful.

Possibly the best pod of all Jules. Frank is great!
Shout out to pops!! He seems like he was a great community organizer. We need more people like him in our communities.
I love this podcast. Every week hit after hit

At this point Jules will have the Ambassador of Mars on the podcast before he ever has Brady come on the show.
I'm not one to say anyone owes anyone anything, but I feel like tom kinda owes edelman an episode
It will be after week one and brady will just do study on his performance and the fist game of brady in the booth

Frank and Jules have the same eyes and same eye mannerisms with their squinting and shit like that.😂😂😂
Happy Father's Day guys! ❤
Happy Father’s Day Frank! Love this so far
The episode we all wanted!!!
This was fantastic! I used to coach Pop Warner football in Arizona in the 90’s. This brought me back in time. Great stuff!!!

The names of ur dads band mates were crazy! And ur dad has super long arms in that pic! Love it!
