  • A lot of other manufacturers are putting autocycle onto their splitters. A lot of them have adapted the log cradle design. That's fantastic!!! Here's what sets Eastonmade apart in a sea of different options.

    The log cradle is the heart and soul of this setup it makes loading the machine effortless I love the cradle ! if the table lift is loaded you can roll the wood in and it basically loads itself the wood stops right where it should it is an excellent well thought out design and a wicked time saver . The biggest thing is getting the wood to it Great VID Andrew

    Andrew I only have a cheap splitter but have watched a ton of videos from a lot of manufacturers. There's nothing wrong with saying you have one of the best on the market. When the time comes I'll be buying one of yours. You have a passion for what you do and want to be the best from what I see.

    I agree. The cradle is very important in holding and centering the wood while I pick up the next piece. They are very sturdy. I haven’t worn it out or damaged them after 1.5 years of heavy use and believe me, I put some heavy pieces through that machine and the cradles handled it. Nice video!

    You’re so right! The cradle and the auto-cycle are true time savers. Especially at the end of the day. Starting out I might have a few seconds to spare per cycle, but as time goes by I seem to slow down! Your machines are well thought out and user friendly.

    Hi Andrew, the only thing I could think of would be a hook on the very top of the pusher plate, so you could attach a nylon strap to pull a stuck round (it's rare, but it happess) off the wedge. And maybe a detachable "nose wheel" and some way to make the splitter self-propelled. Other than that, my 12-22 is perfect! I already made a nosewheel that plugs into the drawbar attachment point. I can send a photo if you'd like. I use the nose wheel for moving the splitter around in the garage where I keep it. It won't ever see snow or rain. ;-)) shalom/gw

    Hi Andrew, I've had my 12-22 for a year and a half. I was using it today. I wouldn't trade it for any other machine on the market. In my opinion it is the Rolls Royce of wood splitters. Thanks again for producing such an excellet product! And please say hello to all the folks at Eastonmade for me. Shalom/gw

  • @mjmtreeservicemaintenance2940
    @mjmtreeservicemaintenance2940 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The design of your splitter was the main reason I went with Eastonmade. Galtec was one, the compact design of a monster like the 22-28 was one, the shear strength and stability of the stand of the splitter is another. It doesn't move when you pick up a king kong log. The splitter is made for commercial beating and keeps on splitting. When that pump second stage kicks down and pushes that massive piston and push plate to split some of the ugliest logs and turn it into firewood grade product without failure over and over again is huge.

  • @googleboy7
    @googleboy7 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You're absolutely right. The log cradle is just one important feature of my 10-22 that made me buy it. I've been splitting wood for 50 years. I think you make the best machine on the market. Thanks! Shalom, gw

    Morning Andrew. I love having that log cradle. Your machines were the first I have run with cradles and being able to drop a round into it, and have it instantly centre the log on it's own, is a big efficiency gain. Loved the auto-cycle too. So simple - drop the round, hit the lever and turn to grab the next round. Repeat. Couldn't be easier (unless I got someone else to do it. LOL!) Cheers!

    From someone that splits his wood by and and usually by my self an auto cycle and loading arm would be so helpful. The speed and efficiency you can achieve makes more wood and gives you the ability to get ahead of the demand. I’m leaning toward the 9-16 with the 4 and 6 way wedge. It’s plenty fast for me and it would cover almost any size logs that I might get dropped off until buying log trucks becomes a cost effective good choice.

    Really like your splitters, looks like they really get the job done. We split a bunch of really challenging wood like post oak, cherry, sycamore and wonder how you think it would work. Some of our pieces are 24-36 inches in diameter and can be a real struggle.
    We currently use a 3 point hydraulic splitter that does a decent job but requires you to pick up each piece several times to get it chopped down to size.

    Andrew. From over 27 years of 'listening' to sales people, I put the most value in the sales person that 'sells his product' and does not 'instead sell, the other guy's product'. Meaning: 1 show me, 2 tell me, and 3 explain why Easton does/has a certain feature and leave the other guys out of the conversation. Then let me go look at the other guy's to see if they have that feature. Like your explanation of the pusher. Show me the double/triple support (I saw a picture). Tell me why it is important (which you did, great). But instead of just explaining the 'bending force', demo it to me so I can 'fully' appreciate the feature. Then I can look for that feature in a other guys unit (if it is there and if I want to). Just a thought from someone listening to a salesman.

    The splitter is awesome. There are a few tiny things I would change if I ever made. I'll never make 1 so it's a moot point though.
    What I was wondering is if the pickaroon would work if you drive it into the side grain at right angles rather than into the end grain. If that works that could save you another 1/2s per block.

    Andrew, as you may know I have your 9-16. The only thing I needed was a strip of semi retread on the pusher plate that stop alot of the pulling apart of the real string woods. I would like your opinion on people who have a set number of pieces like 500 per cord of wood. After 20 some odd years in & out of the business. My cousin Jason runs the day to day an he just points at the sing on the wall, with 4'x4'x8"=128 cu. ft. We thing its all the TH-cam & IBC totes. Please excuse me for my very odd sense of humor.

    Hi Andrew!!😀😀
    That is definitely a fast splitter with the auto cycle on it. I also love the large pusher plate.
    Have you by any chance considered putting a taller push plate on the ultra?? When I watch the ultra being run the pusher is so short that the larger blocks like to flip back instead of going through the wedge. If it was as tall as the wedge is at its lowest setting it wouldn't do it. That's my thought and feedback!!😀😀
    Take care my friend!!😀😀

    • @EastonmadeWoodSplitters

    • @aldredske6197
      @aldredske6197 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EastonmadeWoodSplitters But it's not your fault if the operator pinches their hands. No matter how you build it someone is going to pinch their hand because they shouldn't be running one anyway.

      @@rogerl8488 :) I don't own one and won't buy the ultra because of just that one simple problem. If I were to buy one the very first thing I would do is make the pusher plate taller myself. I have everything needed to fab it up in my own shop.
      I'm not in the market for a splitter anyway.
      I do believe that the splitter itself is a very good quality machine!!

    Rather than a sorting "table", could ou offer something a little longer and like grizzly bars? As fast as the machine is, you really need a conveyor to get the most out of it....I'm a man operation. Having some of the junk/bark bits fall out before the splits get to the pile would be great.

    Hi Andrew, another great video, thanks.
    I'm sorry, I can't improve on your perfection, but I know you can help me, as you have in the past. Just two questions, are those Galtech valves, are they the Q95s, and do you run Q95's on the 22-28?
    Also, do you now run a wheel on your ring lifter instead of just pining the top of the ram to the tray, and if so, what's the advantage? Thanks.
