    I've been using my Fuji X-T3 as a webcam for 3 years now. I have 2 cables connected: a USB-C for power and a MicroHDMI into a Camlink 4k. It runs super hot but doesn't overheat. There is no battery drain but I suspect it's slowly killing my battery, so I bought a cheap third party one just for this purpose. I've ordered my ZV-E1 and hoping to do the same with it! (or failing that, use a dummy battery).

    Really does sound like most of your concerns are very “what if” relying on the battery which lasts over 2h and not having to use USB C charging is not really a bad “work around”
    Also, being concerned for long term reliability is kind of just being maybe a little paranoid. Been loving mine and really appreciate you putting the work in and running these tests. I find them incredibly positive.

    • @jsyntaxmedia
      @jsyntaxmedia  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      it's not a what if. let's say you forgot to charge your battery and want to film and charge at the same time. it can't last more than 30 minutes

      @@jsyntaxmedia I mean, if your going to be doing a 1h set and need to bring your equipment. An extra battery isn’t much of a hard requirement. It should allow you to charge at the same time so that does kind of suck. But if your only working with the E1, that’s a very simple work around that’s not much of a difficult mod to do.
      What the E1 can do is way more impressive than figuring out what it can’t do. Literally in your testing, it did everything and you still labeled your video as serious overheating which is misleading and more click bait. Your only concern was the body being hot???

    I have the Sony Zv1 camera back in 2021. When I started using the camera for 30-45 minutes, it turns off automatically because of overheating. I went to the settings and click on auto power off temperature which was under standard. I set it for high which works for me.

    personally i would add a small fan like i show and it will go on forever but thats not why i reply. streaming mode blocks many features from BT support, color profiles and also limits many settings. Using hdmi out returns all these uses and leaves usb-c open to be used as a control system even wired so i use a ipad on the usb-c out with monitor+ now i can control the whole camera and have way better tools while the output is on hdmi...

    It's funny to watch this being a Fuji user. I bought an X-S20 recently, and when you connect to the app it: 1) Turns off your LCD 2) Turns off video controls including focus! 3) You cannot change anything on the app or the camera body other than start record (!!) 4) The app is vertical only, giving you a TINY preview window. Us Fuji users WISH we could get something usable even for 15 minutes, let alone an hour :)
    As for the overheating, some had success with a dummy battery, maybe that's a good solution?
    Fantastic video though, I haven't seen anyone cover this in this detail and it's so important!

    The people who expect a vlogging-style camera with this level of features and quality output crammed into a tiny package to perform like a cinema-grade camera that can operate in the Sahara Desert are not in touch with reality. If they had done the proper research, they would have known that this camera was never intended to operate like an FX3; hence, it's half the price of that camera. As long as you stay within the tolerances of the camera's capabilities, you will have no issues with this camera. Also, for a lot of people who film outdoors or do nature videography, you will be perfectly fine with this cam. Even the slightest breeze will either prevent or at least prolong the cam from overheating. From my personal experience, overheating has never been an issue. I even saw a video of one TH-camr claiming it overheated after 5 minutes while going through the menus. I was like, "Bro, were you sitting in a sauna?" So much fake controversy for clicks and views!

      I own the camera and have used it multiple times outdoors in scorching heat to film activities with my family. But do I keep the camera running for 2 hours straight? Of course not! As long as you stay within the limitations of the camera, it operates fine and remains reliable. As I mentioned earlier, it has yet to overheat on me. You are making it sound as if the camera won't even start when it's hot and sunny, but that's not the case. If you want to record for longer periods in the heat, you'll need to invest in the more expensive FX3, which can handle it. Maybe people should actually do their research before complaining about said product. The camera works perfectly for the videos that I make. Also, good job on cherry-picking statements that I made and deliberately skipping over the fact that I mentioned when the camera is used the way it was intended to be used, it works fine! 🤡

    ...Sony NEVER advertised this as anything more than a 'Vlogger camera for anyone who want's the highest image quality'; on that end it is absolutely amazing... Also, I'm actually very surprised that he was able to get this much time out of it!!! Getting 30 minutes, 40 minutes, 50 continuous minutes on an A7SIII/FX3-level camera for $1300 - $1500 dollars LESS is a STEAL!! lol I'm an A1 owner, and rented the ZV-E1 for two trips to Florida in May, and I made takeoff videos of my flights. The first trip down I only got under 9 minutes, as I did not open the back or do anything to cool down the camera, and the way I held my camera pressed against the window blocked any air movement... however, on the trip back I pulled out the back screen and aimed the air vent above my seat in the general direction of my camera... The camera never shut down and I recorded for 21 minutes before I got tired of shooting... My two gripes with the camera are the no warning before it shuts down, and the back screen quality in outdoor light; it's tough/terrible to see midday... cheers!
