So it seems like many people think this is me. It's not (I wish it was). This is a quick snippet I took from a DCI headcam. Although I've never played it, this is my favorite little bit of quad writing I've ever came across. The source has always been in the description but then again... who reads the description. Thought i would write and pin this comment just to clear up any confusion.
@@TheFarSideOfNj very original, compliments the brass very well, amazing use of spock, beautiful tuning, cool visuals, tasty beats, flows very well. Paul Rennick understands quads and how to use them very well. I'd certainly love to play writing like this.
i was lucky enough to study under him at UNT for a few years, and i was actually on their drumline with the guy from this video (Josh Hirner). the way he explains things and the stuff he writes is always mind blowing to me
People underestimate just how much the horn book influences the battery book. Limitations breed creativity, and having to write parts that work with an ensemble can lead to some killer drum parts.
Even in the Blue Devils seating block at the Rose Bowl show, we could see this show was a monster....and we were in trouble. However, like most BD alums, I'm quite happy for SVC to win if we can't!
Yo thank you for introducing me to DCI its been like a year since i first saw this and it inspired me to get into band and buy tenor drums for myself, rn im front ensemble but i hope to march snare and tenors soon, ty
@@cartoonpower0 lol my freshmen year we had 3, sophomore was covid so we lost our seniors and juniors so this year we had 2 and next year were gonna have 2 then pretty much nobody left to do battery or pit unless we get alot of freshmen, were all juniors with like 3 freshmen lol, were kinda fucked rn

There has literally never been a single better use of the spock
Kind of surprising that they only have one, but it still sounds undeniably awesome

I’m getting tired of battery books just being full of notes and no musicality. Ya know?

In my high school band I was the only quad
We have two right now, but next year it's probably going to be just me
There was going to be 2 quad players at mine, but I was put on bass for the 3rd year due to a lack of members
