Hackett Boys gap the state field to set new D4 Record (2024 MHSAA LP D4 Finals 4x800-Fast Heat)
The State Runner up, Hillsdale Academy, came in 22 seconds after Hackett's anchor crossed the finish line! Unfortunately, the video cuts off before then. This is the fastest 4x8 ever run by a D4 team. It bested Hackett's previous record from regionals by about half a second.
The order of the relay was Sean Siems (~1:58), Marek Butkiewicz (~1:59), Alexander Dumont (~1:59), and Gavin Sehy (~1:57).

History was witnessed by all in the crowd who watched as the team of Siems, Butkiewics, Dumont, and Sehy of Kalamazoo Hackett set the track on fire, winning by 34 seconds, and running a time that would be good enough to smash the current state record of 8:02 by 7 seconds! The video starts about 80 meters in. This breaks the previous school record of 1:58.9 set in 1992 by Jeff Janofski. It was very close so we had to wait for official results to come in to be sure.

Sorry, it's only lap two. My Mom was recording and I guess she just forgot to press record until lap 2 or something. Also sorry it's shaky, my Mom was more focused on watching than recording lol.

Sorry the video is shaky and not always focused on the top runner. My mom was trying to record me for most of it so she didn't always catch the "interesting stuff." The coaches being allowed to hand out water and wet towels during the race was really fun. Definitely made capping off my 4th event of the day in 90-degree weather a little more bearable

The video starts about 100m into the race. Sorry, the video is shaky and not always focused on everything. My mom was low in the stands and trying to mostly record my team, but she was also trying to watch so the video isn't amazing lol.

why are the clips slightly not cut together perfectly?
After trying lots of different things, I felt like it worked better sometimes to have the next clip start off just a moment before the ending of the previous one. It gives each clip a tiny bit of "context" and it made the clip change feel less abrupt.
Everyone got hyped over the ballad trumpet solo but like- are we not gonna appreciate the flight of the bumblebee trumpet? I’m in percussion and ik that’s hard af
