Man, I had a very similar moment on Mount Wario. I was going down the ski jump, a blue shell was about to catch me, and Toadette was right on my ass. I had to boost as much as possible to at least delay the inevitable. The blue shell had finally struck me at the very moment I touched the finish line. I won that race.

If you think THAT was tense, you sjould play SRB2Kart! The "blue shell" in that game literally chases right behind you, going at YOUR top speed at all times. You slow down even a LITTLE and you're toast. It's even more stressful because you can actually avoid it, if you play perfectly.

Most of the time, the blue shell hits you right after it tells you it’s coming. It’s impossible to completely outrun them. That would ruin it’s whole purpose
