- Alabama Senator Katie Britt is speaking out about the “Saturday Night Live” parody of her State of the Union rebuttal. She was thrilled that “Saturday Night Live” chose Scarlett Johansson to play her. Britt was a guest on Texas Senator Ted Cruz's podcast. She says she was surprised at the backlash to her speech that she delivered from her kitchen moments after President Biden's address to the U.S.
She clearly is not hearing the American people on how fake, creepy, and disingenuous at best she came across.

Oh she's hearing it. The republican way is to accuse the other side of what they themselves did, lying that it didn't happen, or just flat out ignoring it. It's their playbook.

It wasn't just the trad wife theatrics and the bizarre split personality presentation. It was the unnecessarily graphic *lie* she told about sex trafficking in a foreign country that has the nation upset.
Yeah, she danced around that, that Scarlett's parody outed her lies about the sex trafficking victim.
Seriously as a sexual assault survivor, I was disgusted how she chose to narrate that story, like describing the mattress and the room like what the heck she should have given sexual violence warning before her speech.
This was the rare instance where the parody was actually toned down from the real thing. The actual Katie Britt speech was even more whackadoodle with the obvious phoniness, fake dramatics and weird voice changes than the SNL bit.
That's because Scarlett's Johanson's skills as an actress subconciously force her to switch her emotion on every level, giving us, the viewers, a consistent and convincing change in tone, whereas in Katie's speech she somehow managed to make her face and her voice act completely independently from one another and from what she was saying altogether, adding +500 to creepiness.

I mean, I have autism and I literally cannot hear how I sound. I will think I sound normal and reasonable and then I'll find out that I sounded angry or upset. So many this lady can't hear herself and since she's pretty she's never had anyone tell her she sounds insane before?
