I started playing a little less then a year ago and have played it pretty much every day if I have time. The Community pretty much collectively agrees that lightfall was an absolute flop. Witch queen was better by leaps and bounds. I started playing it one night at about 8pm didn’t get off until 5am and at that point I was hooked. For all is BS it really is a good game and there is nothing like it out there I don’t feel like a side character I feel like a hero
One of the strongest things about Destiny 2 is that there really isn't anything like it, there are other games like Warframe and such but none of them feel as good as D2.

Good game stopped at either shadowkeep or nightfall, come back a year later and now there’s hundreds of dollars in expansions to buy. It’s become a microtransactional hell and I have no interest in coming back at this point
As someone who plays D2 regularly, appreciate this POV. People know the new player experience is awful, but even you noting how small content is for expansions and how much it costs… it puts things in perspective.
I’ve been playing BG3 and Starfield and am loving it - there’s so much to do, and I feel I get so much more for my money vs what Bungie has provided.
Plus Bungie said the cash shop would pay for dungeons, but now dungeons cost additional and the cash shop remains… hmmm….
They really need more money they are a small indie company making 3 other games now

If you don’t buy literally all of the DLC the game feels like a demo version, genius business model. I also feel like it’s tough getting new players into the gameplay loop, as like you said the game doesn’t give players much guidance at all. What a time to play for a video too, people were running around with glitched guns, and once that was mostly fixed, bungie started getting DDOSd.
Great video from an outside perspective, definitely tells what makes the game so difficult to get into.
Yes exactly , I bought dlcs about 120 bucks or so and I played for 5 hours and gave up . Didn’t know what to do or didn’t have people to play with. I played since first day launch but stopped when they nerfed hawk moon and last word back then. Game felt different, is it still worth it ? I did a lot of trials of Osiris destiny 1
its a shame because in 2019 the free version was a full game with dlcs without a paywall.. which they removed along with another 150+ dollar dlc. It's honestly "You had to be there" the game. They still remove major parts of the game every year it just isn't worth it, as the stuff you owned the previous year becomes as worthless as the free game when the next big 200 dollar dlc drops
I might as well just let it sit in my library till I can buy everything from the store
There used to be Sparrow Racing as a seasonal event each year and that got sunset and ppl have wanted it to return but we never know if it will ever return.
no way i completed from red war to lightfall ive never seen sparrow racing that entire time huh it only teels more about bungie👎
the proble, is....the backstory of it all was in Destiny 1 and didnt really got told again in D2....there is a ton of lore to read and get into it but honestly......who wants to read 3h in a game xD
I’d also recommend doing the exotic quests, they can be very fun and the exotic weapons you get from them are good. Also probably one of the most popular/memorable songs from the game is “Deep Stone Lullaby” from the Deep Stone Crypt raid.

The best time to start playing was when it was released for free with the main campaign and mars/mercury included, it was a ton of free content, i was having a blast
Servers are the reason I left the game after about 1000 hours. In past the game run so well, especially the PVP. Then something happend and the netcode went sour... Especially in PVP, since they decided that the host was not the server, but a random player.. you can imagine the mess.
Another reason is that PVE and PVP don't "communicate", there is no reason to do PVE if you just want to do PVP.

Destiny 1 and the Vault of Glass Raid for the first time with a group of random one fine Summer Afternoon back when it 1st came out was one of the greatest gaming experiences I have ever had. I couldn't believe what I was experiencing. It was superb!. Just sad yet amazing how they always managed to ruin everything lol. Ah the good old days. Nostalgia, Nostalgia.

As a 10 year veteran I almost entirely agree with your opinions and you described the mechanics well considering the small time you’ve had with the game and I’ll guess you’ve figured most of it out by now.
I would amend 2 facts;
First, writing and the story isn’t just bad.
It’s atrocious, embarrassing Saturday morning cartoon nonsense and it’s written, not by passionate artists, but by a committee of corporate drones and they’ve embarrassingly contradicted their own canon before.
The lore is beautifully written though. Must be a totally seperate team.
Plus! The swords glow sometimes.
And if you like swords you’re going to like that they’re finally getting their moment this season in The Final Shape.

This needs to be seen by other Destiny Content Creators so it can shed more light and hopefully get traction so Bungie can see it!

I just play the main campaigns story missions for all the expansions and call it a day. I just look at it as a lite Borderlands.

I think to be able to craft you have to have The Witch Queen expansion. Which, btw, is probably the best expansion they’ve done storywise. Which sucks since Lightfall came after it, which is currently one of the worse expansions they’ve made.
Wait, why are you in 3rd person mode in some of your videos? Is there an option? I didn't touch this game because i am not into fps.
4 months later I reply lol. The reason is while using a sword forces you to 3rd person. Every other weapon is fps. There are some supers, which are used in 3rd person (usually meele based ones). So that's why. Imo it would feel weird to shoot in 3rd person, and meele combat would feel weird in 1st person.
i truly cannot wait to see how far you will go. this video was awesome.
for the gameplay part: the gameplay is not repetitive since there is a huge variety of builds for each class and subclass. Then there are raids and dungeons, but these are endgame activities. There are endless ways to play the game, but since you didn't even put together a single build with an armor exotic that does something you couldn't experience this. The PvP enemies probably had good weapons with useful weapon perks for pvp and a PvP focused build, that's why they killed you that fast. I am sorry to say this but you almost only scratched the surface of this game.
I used to play D1 and D2 up till Beyond Light I think it was. Over time the game began to feel more stale, but still had its moments. But coming back to it after like a year or two I was completely blindsided by how much the game had worsened. I originally played on Xbox, but was wanting to get into it on PC, and when I saw how they monetized the hell out of it I just gave up before even getting to play anything. Not to mention how they completely nuked a sh!t ton of the older content like story and weapons. I loved Forsaken, but now its like literally unplayable? I feel soo sad when I think what's happened to this game and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Great video. With limited game time I need to investigate if a game seems worth it or not. This one, not for me.
Also one major difference was overwatch you feel more interactive with other players than in destiny which is a coop game St it's core, compare that to borderlands or the torb rock gallatic game
The fact they put the Quest and Journey tabs in completely different menu's, really pissed me off. The vague descriptions of what needs to be done to advance from level 4 to 5 (Yaya Riskrunner) really had me angry. Highlight the quest, it tells me to go to the EDZ, I go to the EDZ and talk to both merchants there, expecting one of them to have the quest I'm suppose to do, and nope. After a while my boyfriend got on and said "You just gotta click on the quest on the MAP. Oh, cool. Then it takes us back to the Cosmodrome (Completely different area) and the mission was easier than the areas I've been exploring for 2 days.. Cool. That would have been lovely to know or be shown, or told, from the Quest itself. Why do we need 3 different menus? Its so convoluted, the entire game is confusing and honestly pointlessly complex.
As a destiny veteran since the launch of d1 you have no idea how bad they are about the micro transactions now
Got it for free on the epic store, but after seeing this I can't say I'm enthused. It seems to me that there are just more enjoyable games to play instead.
I am so dug into Starfield, especially the ship builder, no time for anything else. I suspect my marriage will end soon ;)

It's a shame, they had sparrow racing for a while then it went away never to return. Madness as it was a really fun mode.
Man I hated when they gave a dialog to your character from the star. D1 he didn’t have one till cades death. Like it ruined the dynamic for me

I love Destiny 1 and 2, but I've noticed a lot of people are moving to Warframe (due to the aggressive DLC and sudden paywalls that crop up) It's as bad as Fortnite.
Playing this game is like jumping in to a tv series at the end of its life and only watching recaps from previous seasons. i bought the legacy collection thinking it would let me replay all the previous campaigns in full but you don't even get to play a quarter i guess i should have read more of the description but if i had known i would have never bought it or start playing the game at all. don't waste your time and money on destiny 2 just wait for destiny 3 of just don't play.
I stopped playing once they started charging for dungeons.. You want me to buy the battlepass and expansions? Fine, but charging for dungeons was it for me.
P. S. How do Bungie make a game with one of the most characterful, distinctive, varied and gorgeous soundtracks ever with Halo…

I could listen to any 3 second clip of Halo’s soundtrack and recognise it but do the same with Destiny’s and I could get it wrong at least half the time.
And I’ve played Destiny for TEN years!
But 90% of players LOVE IT and think I’m crazy.
When they hear a well arranged orchestra made of consummate professional musicians playing a technically tight piece of music they get impressed purely by execution and by the power an orchestra has.
But a great orchestra will literally give you chills playing “Pop Goes The Weasel” live or on good headphones.
You’re in a small minority not liking the music but every one who doesn’t like it is usually musical in some way (I myself learned violin by Suzuki Method for four years and have an extremely musical family)

I loved this game from the feel aspect of it. It was amazing. I lost interest when i felt they recycled the same areas for new mission points etc. its like paying for skins...lol

I messed around with Destiny 2 a little bit last year but holy shit, the monetization is fucking horrendous. I took one look at all the shit I _wouldn't_ be getting even after paying for the expansions and just said "fuck it".
D2 players have a lot more patience than I do.

Yep good gameplay but not perfect and thats it, its a VERY bad experience for a new player or a returning one (i am the second type) i came back at start of lightfall... and uff even if you knew the prior story lightfall makes very little sense and it seems like filler content and the lack of the first parts of the game or any kind of GOOD explanation of what happend (red war, forsaken etc) make that new players experience very bad and convoluted (what you say about not knowing things of gameplay systems and what to do to certain types of enemies is that you cant play or have to pay for the story that introduce and explain what to do) , im not even gonna say something of the monetization because... uf...
Tbf, the servers are really bad right now due to an issue with weapon crafting

What you are paying for is vanguard, crucible, raids, dungeons . There is nothing interesting in open world
Please review Warframe because it is better and a fair free to play game It has everything from tons of weapons, classes/warframes, customization, spaceship coop battles, modding your equipment, pets, combos, skills, pvp/pve, story, open world gameplay, weekly and dailies missions with good rewards, good graphics not outdated but still optimized, always new content/updated, trading helpful community, different game modes, clan system, cross-save and cross-platform.

Watched the whole video, my only commentary is that servers were extra terrible unfortunately during the time you were recording because bungie was being DDOS attacked.
Also, the netcode on PVP is bad and the radar top left shows enemies where you are, they were most likely not cheating.
this game is very addictive, I'm still trying to play it, but the ddos attacks persist. I've heard it's been like that for years.
I didn't know that the radar worked in pvp lol.. that's such a weird thing to have in pvp
you have to play ore to understand, and there is actually more then just shooting. lots of exploration and if you put more time to get to 1800, everything gets simpler.

Red War isn't in the game - it should be. As all other vaulted stories should.
i mention red war because of his complaint on no content, back in the red war days it was 10x worse for content.@@fr12221

Yuu always seem to set unrealistic expectations of games, then complain when they aren't met. Literally everything from expecting ship combat, to saying it isn't open world, and saying it it not an MMO.. Every planet has an open world map. Some are bigger than others, but they are all open. There is no set size criteria to be open world, but considering the number of maps, Destiny's open world is huge. Destiny has never advertised ship gameplay. I'm not sure why you even mention it, other than more unrealistic expectations. Also yes, it is an MMO, a "First Person Shooter Action MMO". I'm sure you would reply with sentences that start with "To me", or "Well, in my opinion" as you always do lol, but non of these things are subjective. "I thought it had this. I thought it had that.". Bungie never advertised any of these things you expected.
I do not understand how someone can make a "review" video based in criticisms, solely fueled by the fact your unrealistic set expectations were not met.
Are you still playing to this day? To be honest the game is pretty boring and can get really repetitive when you don't have friends to play with. I think most people would agree that's doing a raid with you're friends is one of the best things to do in this game.
