Thank you for the great video as always 💚 Your orchid mugs are magnificent- imagine how beautiful the Phal. schilleriana would look on mug... hint hint 😉 😂. Stay safe 💚🌸
Those pots are also available from Amazon in the US also. I have 3 different sizes, and I love them! I just received my first 4 Tolumnias and they will definitely be going into these pots.
I tried to follow this method for six tolumnias and they are completely taking off! Roots are doing great, despite this being so against the typical approach favored by the majority of traditional growers.
How often do you water them in those pots? I have the same type of set up in a cabinet and I bought the pots but I’m not sure how often to water the pots.
Dani, quick question: I also use wicking pots for my Orchids with sphagnum moss and bark, 50-50 ish mix. Do you keep your reservoir with water constantly? Or do you allow the reservoir to dry out on occasion during certain seasons, possibly to encourage spike development? I appreciate your time and thank you for everything you’ve taught me!
I ended up with 8 Tolumnias bc of your videos! 6 are doing amazing, 2, not so much (they were freebies and I am still hoping!). I just love them though!
Hi Danny, how do you water in this setup? Should there always be water in the reservoir? I started to plant my phals in moss and they love it but it dries out really fast, especially now with heaters on, and I have some 12 cm Lechuza cube pots so I could put a wick and put them inside but I’m not sure how to water. And how much you can fill the reservoir without overwatering moss? And lastly how do you fertilize in self watering?
Video Suggestion: could you talk us through how you keep on top of syanobacteria & algae? I know you have an older video but would be interested to know how you manage to keep the inner white pots free from it! Do you do hydrogen peroxide flushes to keep it under control? Thanks!
I also had some tolumnias dying because of too much water and rotting, always in winter, when it's cold and evaporation is not really strong. Be careful with watering, it really depends on climate. Have tolumnias rotting is not impossible at all
Wow, Nice, I'll be buying some, I currently see 3", 4", and 5" on amazon (their stock is always changing), I'll probably try nylon rope rather than cotton, my only question is don't these need additional ventilation holes for orchids ?
I've seen u cut your flower spikes after blooms are over ..my new flower spikes grow from the top of my old flower spikes, usually aboit 3 nodes down so if I cut after bloom will I get new blooms ?
Can anyone tell me why my African violets leaves are turning light yellow and pink/white on back. The are in the same window with south exposure. I sit them on vanity if gets around 40 degrees out. They feel healthy. Thanks.

They look so cute in their new pots! And I love your Sailor Moon figure, she is keeping an eye on your Tolumnias!!
I use those same mini self watering pots for my miniature African violets. They're great!
It’s so nice to hear the birds again. I missed them.
I use those very pots for my tolumnias. They love it.

I have self watering pots for a lot of my plants and I love them. I am going to try this with my orchids. Great idea!

I got my first Tolumnia a few months ago. It didn’t like shipping, but slowly looking ok.
Good video.

I have 1 tolumnia and haven’t been able to get it to bloom yet and having trouble finding them 😢
The tolumnia's don't need to dry out?
Yes, they do, at least in my environment, 4 seasons, just windowsill. If mine were constantly wet, they wouldn't be anymore.
... forgot to mention, I use small bark.
@@annareiter952 in self watering set up?
@@dallaswiatrzyk7896 No. just small bark.

Would this set up work for jewel orchids? I am in very dry climate...
Found these on Aliexpress, do you think this will work using only bark? I assume the bark isn't really very wicking so it won't "self water".
