Thanks for featuring Popoy's Batchoy. I felt sorry it was too humid during your visit. I hope you had a wonderful time in our city. I was the one who took that pic of you and the lady in white. I hope you can visit Iloilo again someday.
A bit of trivia: Popoy's is considered by Ilonggo foodies as a bit of a left field choice for tourists wanting to try batchoy since it's not from the "traditional" La Paz district that the dish is named after (the place where you ate in this video is their original location since 1978, though they have other branches in malls here in Iloilo), while the rest of the local "Big 4" batchoy restaurants do (namely, Ted's, Deco's and Netong's). Regardless of that, Popoy's was actually awarded as the best batchoy in Iloilo back in 2020 when the first Iloilo Batchoy Festival was held. So yes, you have made an excellent choice for your first batchoy experience. Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m a local sir but I live in London now. I have tried all the batchoys in Iloilo but Popoy’s will always be my favorite, without a doubt. Watching you eat batchoy brings back a lot of good memories of my hometown. Please enjoy Iloilo City. 😊
Wherever you are in the Philippines Tater, never hesitate to ask even in English, you can always be certain someone will muster up all the English words they know to try and help you!
When I visited Popoy’s in Iloilo. I also got lost while trying to find their stall. Amazingly, I sat exactly where you sat. The broth is in on salty side. But, the puto balances it out.
That was absolutely delicious, brother👌 Nice to see you walking around greeting friendly filipinos - waving at you, smiling at you and talking to you as well. Such a very good vibe🤗 Keep enjoying bro. Take care🙏
Popoy”s batchoy is one of the known and famous, especially for college students, if you want to try pancit molo-don’t get confuse of a pancit or noodles or lo-mein chinese noodles, pancit molo is a soup just like batchoy, you should go to The town of Molo, iloilo then you can ask the locals where is the best pancit molo its should be there somewhere. Your landmark will be the gothic church near the plaza . Hope this will help, also a advise you always take and drink bottled water. Aight take care stay safe, enjoy and have fun.😅
@@tatertravels the whole Panay Island (that includes Bacolod and Gumaras) is experiencing Power Outage until tomorrow. So just prepare. Expect that malls are going to be packed because we love AC 😁😅
The hat looks good and great protection. Keep doing this type of vlog. It's wonderful to watch. I can see my beautiful country through your videos. Thank you.
I like what your doing brother. Showing the nornal surroundings, culture, food and daily life here in the Philippines. Majority of us Filipinos are living in the lower and mid-class of society.
You're such a kind man too Tater... Hope you can explore Bacolod City too just an hour travel by a fast craft... A lot of smiley and friendly Ilonggos will be welcoming you there💐
The condiments here that you see in every dine in place is usually there for you to add if you think the food is lacking in something like saltiness, spice, etc.. others are there for you to dip the food in.. usually like vinegar, etc.. but if you think that everything is already good with the food, then you don't need to add anything else. For example, I usually like my La Paz Batchoy with calamansi. So it really depends on your tastes. 😁 Love your videos, by the way. I'd love to see you have a collaboration with "Kumander Daot" (TH-camr also)
Hopefully you'll be back in January for the Dinagyang Festival. One of the country's most successful and exciting festivals. I watch this Batchoy Vlog several times (perhaps more than 10x). I enjoy your camaraderie with the locals. The locals appreciate you for being so approachable and friendly. I'm so pleased you like the local version of Iloilo ramen.
Pancit molo is perfect when you tried it in a soup. Savory and tasty. I hope you have tried it too. Thank you for exploring our country, especially Iloilo. We appreciate it a lot. ❤️
Ok. What ever you're eating SOUNDS delicious. Lol😆 It's the way you're enjoying the food. And the sound of slurping. Making me hungry. Enjoy and Stay safe. (Canada)
I would’ve given up looking for Popoy’s 😂 Tater you’re such a humble man 💙 Glad you liked batchoy. The one she gave you is puto (rice cake). You don’t need to be sorry for being sweaty. Filipinos understand that you’re not used to the humid weather. I appreciate that you’re here in the Philippines. Thank you so much. Btw everyone’s looking at you not to be rude. They don’t see white guy wondering around the market. Like you said you stick out 😂 You’re a foreigner and a white guy 😂 Take care 🙏
La Paz Batchoy is awesome anywhere in Phils and I like to get it even in Manila. If you can make it back to Luzon by mid-May, Pahiyas festival in Lucban town is arguably the most colorful festival and the food there is awesome as well! 👍
Hi Tater! I just love watching your videos, the way you're so cool with the locals here in the Philippines is heartwarming to watch. Enjoy your stay in our country. :)
Wow Tater is here in Iloilo! Welcome! Hope you prepare yourself for on and off power outage this week. You have to go Guimaras too, the Island across Iloilo. The mango festival is starting this May. Enjoy the feast of sweetest mango in the region.
I visit Iolilo almost every year (parents are originally from there) but have never eaten at Popoy's! Everyone recommends or goes to Netong's or Ted's so you're a real trailblazer to shoot a video there. :) The Iloilo Central Market is about to undergo a serious renovation/modernization soon which is why parts of it look kind of abandoned or not well-maintained at the moment.
Dude, it's okay to eat with your spoon like everyone over here does. You can tell you're a real tourist because you are eating with a fork. Hahaha. Thank you for having an open mind. Most outsiders wouldn't dare go to the market to eat local food. I have gained so much weight since I moved here. Hahaha. Thank you for sharing your adventure.
I just subscribed to your channel. I want to say I appreciate your effort and time to search for an authentic restaurant offering batchoy. Being sweaty and tired, yet satisfied with the food is all worth it, I would say. Welcome to the Philippines and enjoy.

your doing it the wrong way again nyahahaha. basically for a local (tourist) you must do the soup first! then attack the noodles and the meat.
Good call on not adding any soy sauce to the La Paz Batchoy. Your videos never fail to make me homesick, in a good way.
