I’ve been to Paris, my grandma only lives like 10 minutes away lol. There’s a mural and it’s clear the town really loves him and is proud of him. Very nice city
I disagree with your comment at 1:45 that his previous music did not have soul in it. There were plenty of hidden gems in all his previous albums that were full of soul. He did write some "phony-ass country songs" (to quote Gabe Lee), but there were so many good ones that not a lot of people really heard. Bring You Back, One Mississippi (my favourite) , Raymond (that song's made me cry more than a few times), Lose It All, The Reason (this is amazing live), Haven't Met You, Brother, Castaway. The soulful, honest, real, vulnerable side to Brett was always there - just to a lesser extent. I completely agree that he's matured. But this album didn't surprise me. He's always had this in him, I'm just glad he let it shine through the way he did in Sunday Drive.
awesome ~ I shall check those out! :) I had only been exposed to what was popular / on the radio, and I had a feeling that there were probably some good deep cuts in there :)
Love this review, Christine! I've listened to about half of this album and have been pleasantly surprised by it. Glad it sounds like it was recorded with real musicians and not a bunch of toybox production. Looking forward to more of your reviews!
