I know I'm late getting to this video, but I mirrored a lot of your thoughts on Cuttin Grass. Honestly (especially with I Don't Mind), I got some serious Willie Nelson vibes from the album. The writing, the sound, and the personality all trot the same line of "I'm not what Nashville wants right now, but I will be once they figure out how great I am" that I remember hearing Red Headed Stranger and Stardust for the first time. Obviously they don't match exactly stylistically, but I've been a sucker for quality songwriting lately, and Sturgill is one of the best in the game right now. Also, I subbed after watching this one, the quality is outstanding, and I'm looking forward to what you do next!
I got to see Tyler twice, One where people didn't really know who the heck he was, once where everyone knew who he was lol. One of the musicians I'm obsessed with as Well! Check out Nick Shoulders, Kaitlin Butts, The Velvet Saddles, and Billy Strings. I've thought about making a music channel or podcast too, mainly because I'm tired of eating. :) Keep on Keepin On!
So I did the exact same thing you did. I went back and forth between the bluegrass and original songs on Sturgill's albums as well. I said the exact same thing you did. I like the one I am currently listening to the best. But overall, it made me appreciate all of the songs even more.
As for Sturgill’s bluegrass album: Presenting the music (even the same songs) from different platforms gives you the chance to enjoy the music in different perspectives. Sturgill does it, Tyler does it. It works. Sturgill has done production for Tyler. Go figure... Im happy that intrigues and ultimately sells their work. Way better than selling out like the bubble gum country artists.
Loved the new format. I agree with the Brothers' Osbourne take. I wished there was as much substance as there was musicality but yeah, Back on the Bottle is a jam!
Hey, loving your channel! I would love to get a track to you to review and for you to experience some UK Country Music! What’s the best way for me to get in touch?
I like the brothers osborne album. They have gone for a more rock influenced sound.. A lot of these songs will be well suited to their live concerts. However i prefer the sound of port saint joe which had a bit more depth and soul.My 3 favorite songs are skeletons, high note and make it a good one
sturgill has got to be my favorite artist of all time, probably biased as i am from KY
Hell yeah, nice video. You got a future here :P
Love your videos! Keep making these please lol
Huge bluegrass and Sturgill fan and echo your sentiments 100%. It doesn't hurt that Sierra Hull plays mandolin and sings backing vocals on it!
omg yes i know right? such a gift to the world
