    this mod needs an update where falkreath has more trees so it can still have it's forest-y look and we need a mod that completely expands the swamp area of skyrim where mortal is. I loved the swamp area but it was do disappointingly tiny and ruins the gloomy atmosphere.

      +Black Petunia Basically this mod with the last update that comes witch will be the final version and The people of skyrim - ultimate with it's final version as well and the two modders make a compatibility patch for each other, you will get the completely new Skyrim that no one has played. Just imagine it with a lot of graphical mods, quest mods, animation mods, skill mods, weapons and armor mods and finally magic, immersion and mods that improve everything you like. It's just the perfect Skyrim, pretty much an entirely new game to play. Call it the Witcher Skyrim Edition. *Just a note if you want to do this you need a really good PC memory wise and an SSD for Skyrim that's a must, plus the game needs to be optimized for stability and all the other steps for proper installation of the mods and their cleaning if it's needed* :D

    • @Markgangzta
      @Markgangzta 8 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      +dean gracious I wouldn't worry about the community "dying". It'll just seem that way because we are so used to having by far the most active modding community in gaming. I can sure you that 5 or 6 years from now there will still be die hard modders tinkering around with the game. Think of it this way, the Mass Effect modding community is still going pretty strong in 2016 and that series isn't even suppose to have mod support.

    • @airraverstaz
      @airraverstaz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      +Gengi bre Vanilla Skyrim is pretty bland, i'll give you that. But to be fair, even if Bethesda had made their game like this from the beginning, modders would've found a way to make it better in some shape or form - they usually do.....Except with The Witcher. Now that I think about it, if games had that same standard of quality there wouldn't be a need for mods. Moot point.

    • @gengibre4814
      @gengibre4814 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Yes but the vanilla game was very simple, more simple than Oblivion or Morrowind, the modders fix the loss pasion of Bethesda.

    • @airraverstaz
      @airraverstaz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Gengi bre Ah, now I see what you were getting at. Good point, in a sense its kind of the same for Fallout 4 considering all of the features that were removed that 3 had. I can compare with that more because I didn't really play Oblivion or Morrowind. I'll go back and play them sometime since you've piqued my interest.

    • @cheerfulpessimist952
      @cheerfulpessimist952 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I think it gives the cities a more realistic feel. Dawnstar's new towers look very similar to medieval Eastern European castles. The mod definitely gives each city a unique feel and I think the designs are fairly good. I do see your point because they don't really fit into Skyrim all that well.

    • @worcestershirey
      @worcestershirey 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Cheerful Pessimist Yeah, I would imagine Dawnstar and Winterhold's buildings look like how a new building in 1300's Europe would look like. I just feel it would be better if they were more rugged and less boxy, so they fit Skyrim's atmosphere better.
      And the cities do all feel unique now. I don't look at Dawnstar and think Winterhold anymore.

    • @cheerfulpessimist952
      @cheerfulpessimist952 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      WorcestershireySauce I think the easiest fix is to distress the textures, make them look more weathered so they don't look so clean. That way it gives the impression of age.

    • @worcestershirey
      @worcestershirey 8 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @Fargoth_Ur
    @Fargoth_Ur 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I downloaded this a while ago and really liked what I saw. The amount of thought put into the layouts and new areas was fantastic. Even if some of the new buildings look a little boxy (especially in Winterhold), at least those cities actually feel like they have a more unique identity. Falkreath is especially fantastic, and the new Longhouses put even Dragonsreach to shame. And the new weapons and items added feel like icing on the cake.
    However, considering that the mod author stated that he wanted to release some patches to make this compatible with EtaC and JK, I'll probably wait until then to do a playthrough with this. Playing without those two and Stryker's patch for them leaves some of the other towns and settlements feeling sparse, and I don't want to spend an hour manually disabling all the conflicting objects and buildings. I'm not willing to trade in my giant, bustling Rorikstead for just two or three new buildings in it just yet.

      @Markgangzta 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Triskelion Chi $500 is a little low even when you don't take into account $200+ in peripherals and OS. For a LoL/Minecraft/CS:GO/Skyrim machine it'd definitely more than suffice, but if you're looking to play current games for the next few years on higher settings, $600-$800 is probably what you're going to need to cough up. Keep in mind a good 4gig graphics cards can set you back $300-$400 alone and games are more than likely going to start looking for 8 gigs of VRAM pretty soon.

      It straight out goes against lore and canon, so no, it doesn't come down to taste or preference, it comes down to rather you like TES or not, if you endorse these changes you don't like TES but something else and just play Skyrim for sandboxing. Probably what the Author of this mod does.
      In the end, the choice as to what mods you use or don't, well, these come down to preference, but it's a completely different thing. Entirely, really...
      One thing is liking a mod, another is debating the world setting, so basically you've talked sh*t, don't do that again, "CRIMINAL SCUM!"

      +zheodegeso Actually, not as great as I thought. I used ETaC (Expanded Towns and Cities), and it lagged me endlessly. I installed this, and I actually have an improvement on my frame rate. This is mostly because many of the areas that've been improved upon have been put in their own separate loading zones.
      I used to get huge lag spikes around Dawnstar, vanilla and modded. With this, it runs smooth as butter. I don't know how they pulled it off. It's quickly becoming one of my favorite mods of all time. :) Give it a shot!

    For 4 gigs of data, this would have to be perfect and it's far from it. Some of the buildings just look way too boxy and fake. The author wanted to make something like Better Cities for Oblivion but this doesn't even hold a candle to that mod. It doesn't add anywhere near as much as that mod did (so far) and what it does add it's either bland or not particularly eye catching at all.

    Personally, I look at this mod and it looks pretty bad. The new models look so boxy I seriously thought your game hadn't rendered any textures yet, it looks like something from more than 10 years ago. Also, some cities like Falkreath look way to cramped, I like vanilla Falkreath because how it sort of "gets along with the forest", gives it a creepy feeling in a way.

    I. Love. This. Mod.
    I've been using it since it came out, and I couldn't be happier. I used to use ETaC, but I've actually had increased performance and FPS since switching over. It has minimal mod compatibility issues, considering all the changes.
    My favorite, oddly, is Winterhold. I haven't found a single mod that made Winterhold feel like it used to be the capital. This does. The buildings in the town also match the college a bit more closely, and it feels like it all used to be part of an ancient and grand city.
    Damn. Love this mod. Thanks, Brodual, for doing a spotlight!
