I can’t believe you’re 19, I mean you don’t look old or anything, but your personality and style does make you seem more mature and older than you actually are. It’s weird to think you’re just two years older than me

yes .... yk i wouldn`t have been surprised if he had said he was 35 like his insightful approach to things and the kind of views and overall his introspective nature .... way mature than a 20 years old person is generally is... i mean just 3 years older than me . However, let us hope that we being the younger folks retain his maturity and wisdom via oculosmosis ( A word i just invented lol)!!

From my (obviously limited) INFJ-ist perspective, you often share the kinds of ideas that often resonate with me a lot, but the way you articulate them sounds more like an INTJ speaking. I could be wrong, of course, and I'm not sure if this observation makes any sense to you, bu those are just my two cents based on what I've seen of you so far.
I'm looking forward to the Beats video. I always wanted to like them, then I read some of their works...and didn't feel it, which was a disappointment. Maybe I need to come back to them again after those few years. I did read them in my "angsty extreme existentialist" phase, so maybe I'd have a different outlook now.

Alright lad, I am almost 30 years older than you and would consider myself fairly well read but I can tell from looking at a half dozen of your videos that even as a 20 year old you are probably better read than me. You are probably a talented musician. I am playing guitar for 33 years now and am a complete journeyman at best.
But hey talent and application....the first I can't will and the second I can't muster (much!!)
Anyway sir I very much enjoy your videos about books (having been a avid reader since I was about 9 years old).
Here are some of my favourite authors with one or two books I particularly enjoyed. If you read this comment you might see a few titles you'd be interested in:
Solzhenytsin: The First Circle (my absolute favorite by him)
Dan Simmons (Ilium and Olympos, possibly surpasses his Hyperion Cantos)
Glen Duncan (I, Lucifer and Weathercock, both excellent and Weathercock was a distressing and even uncomfortable read but worth it. Both book endings I thought were a little bit disappointing but still well worth reading)
Cormac McCarthy (All The Pretty Horses. I know Blood Meridian is the critics choice but All the pretty horses is just ravishing)
Irvine Welsh (Trainspotting, The Edinburgh dialect might put you off but it is an awesome awesome book)
John Steinbeck (East of Eden, sort of like inhabiting a little world of its own for its duration)
Jack London (The Call of The Wild)
Joseph Heller (Catch-22, funny harrowing, solipsistic)
Ethan Cohen (Gates of Eden, fantastic short stories)
James Elroy (LA Confidential, infinitely better than the very good film)
George Orwell (Coming Up for Air, took me by surprise)
So there ya go. I read 1Q84 (all three parts) by Murakami and very much enjoyed this. Must some more of his stuff a read.

I feel so connected like spiritually understood with this channel and the experiences. Your Book recommendations and just love for philosophy and psychology. And turns out I'M ALSO TURNING 20 IN 4 MONTHS. AQUARIUS HERE.
And I'm a science student too who is finding love for art.But since my field will be more medicine related ( hopefully in the future connecting to psychiatry and neuroscience), I think I'll be happy. It's something that connects art and science for me. It's like getting something physical from a philosophy/ psychology book. I want to prove to people that psychology exists. It's a real thing.
The first time I gave the mbti test, I got INFJ, then INFP and recently I got INTJ. I'm so done with this testing. I read about this test and cognitive functions etc for 2years through whatever source I could find. But nothing helps. So now I don't care about my type except for the fact that I'm sure I'm introverted intuitive. Rest just doesn't matter, I'll figure it out as life happens.

i know a bit about jung's cognitive functions theory which is the basis of the MBTI system and from my perspective if we look out for functions you really look like an INFJ. some people on comments wrote that even your communication style is so INTJ but as an INFJ myself i can resonate how you talk or tell your opinions. i suppose i need to watch more videos of you to see if you use Fe or Te but... please don't make typing on letters, functions would be a better choice to search about. with a lots of research i did about enneagram too, i actually think you are an 4w5 sp/so or so/sp INFJ with 451 tritype which really can look like an INTJ and type 5 (INTJs are so common for 5s). i recommend you to search about enneagram too and see the slight difference between 4w5 (common for INFJs) and 5w4 (common for INTJs). in the end this is my humble opinion and hope i could help. have a great day.

Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage was the first ever Murakami book I read, I was frustrated and disappointed, I remember I read the ending 4 times to actually understand what happened, but nothing. Murakami left me with my own perspectives on that book and I love him for that, that book shattered my ego, that insignificant, unilluminating ending forced me to slow down and think, it made me realize that i don’t have any clue about anything whatsoever. Norwegian Wood was the next and still is one of my favorite books of all time, I’m simply in love with that book and Kafka on the Shore made me realize that I want to write.

Personally, I pursue multiple interests as a means of avoiding burnout. Today I'll work on a story, tomorrow maybe some artwork or music, coding the day after that, etc. That's probably why I gravitated toward game development. My varied interests can be put to work on a single project.

What do you think of Murakami’s way of writing? I’ve read Kafka on the Shore just recently and it was kinda disturbing at some point- the whole taboo/incest thing. Does literary merit/license stretch that far? Anyhow, I like the book and the metaphors it provided.

    • @MrMickeei
      @MrMickeei 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

I believe literary licence (or any art) stretches as far as the laws permit. I don't think there should be any taboos within art, because disturbing stuff happens in real life and art should be allowed to depict that.

It's the same for me, especially for the fact that my writing is also deeply influenced by my love for Art and by the studies I've made in university about the different and manifold ways in which to "read" and fully embrace an artwork.

What you said about feeling isolated when the world is 'opening up' to people when they read more in that some become pompous was really comforting to me but not in the way you meant it. In my case I actually stunted my intellectual growth because of the loneliness of not being able to connect with anyone around as it was literally killing me. I thought trying to be interested in and learning what others liked would be more advantageous for my emotional wellbeing. Well, at almost 28 and 3 suicide attempts later that way of living hasn't done me any good. I'm terribly intimidated by others my own age with the same interests since they've went to University by this point and younger Gen Z'ers would probably look down on me for not being as well read or educated as I could be it leaves me back at a stand still in making any friends. The point is it's nice to know I didn't feel isolated just because I have these interests coming from a extremely poor background. I'm sure you count your blessings in that you have friends that have similar interests and are able to pursue a higher education.

You’re a great inspiration for people my age (even though you do not believe in inspiration). I’m gonna turn 20 in 4 months as well. I may have been one of those students doing a degree for the sake of it? But I’m also glad that I did my diploma in French alongside, even tho I was unsure, now I’m teaching it to someone and that has served me a lot I would say. I’ve been on and off with writing as well. I wish I would’ve stuck through with it, but I guess the lockdown really helped me in rekindling my passion towards writing stories. I’m currently working on the character profiles of my book, and it’s good to know that I’m already doing what you suggested-writing 500 words a day :)

Morbid Girl not true. They even change over time. A brain network is formed by genetics (obviously that bit you can‘t change) and experiences. Our brain is like a superpower and you can train your superpowers. I wrote my bachelor thesis about Mindfulness and how Meditation and Body Scans change the brain. There are studies that prove that you can even grow more grey matter in your brain. Grey matter contains most of the brains neuronal cell bodies. You can even learn to feel comfort in discomfort and become highly functioning without getting sick or unhealthy. You basically train your brain to give more and you teach yourself what you are capable of and it will become a new normal after a while.

@@liamariavoelker4162 I don't think you can understand the concept of cognitive functions. You can strengthen certain functions to a great degree but you'll never lose your "dominant" functions. Other functions can be acquired later on in life but they wouldn't be strong enough as "natural" cognitive functions. Yeah, personality still can't be changed but it can be maturer and healthier. Because of development of brain and it's capacity, cognitive functions will be developed over decades. You'll began to acquire functions you never had in your brain. Still, your "natural" cognitive functions will remain domaint and will be always stronger than "acquired " cognitive functions. That's what I meant.

To back up the other commenter, mistypes between INTJ and INFJ can happen because both the first and last cognitive functions match (leading Introverted Intuition with 4th slot Extroverted Sensing).
While we all use all functions, our preferences or the order of operations our brains like to use do not change (unless under sustained pyschological distress).

Love your channel man crazy how acceleration has blasted off this year for ya congrats! Question on “writing every day.” When I played basketball in high school it was essential to practice every day but we always had specific drills to work on...if you didn’t know these drills the best you could do is haphazardly shoot around until you get bored or tired which would be better than nothing but still wouldn’t improve you much. “Write every day” sounds similar to practicing basketball every day and I’m wondering what are the specific “drills” or structures of practice that will actually yield improvement? If I just crack open a notebook and write stream of conscious I feel like that’s just going out into the driveway and shooting hoops, I’m kinda getting better but my time could be structured more effectively if I know what drills to work on...Hope this made sense would appreciate any feedback. Cheers and keep it up buddy! 👍

It’s very cool to see a young smartie getting bitten by art! The fact that you like Jack Kerouac and Haruki Murakami is encouraging. I would suggest you check out Naropa Institute and see about studying with Anne Waldman. You can check out Naropa’s digital archive, especially classes with Alan Ginsberg. I would also suggest Shakespeare’s Sonnets, which are a textbook in how Western art works.
Short list: Jack Kerouac “Mexico City Blues”, Homer “Odyssey”, Dante “Inferno”, Ovid “Metamorphosis “.
Not to omit: Rushdie, V.S. Naipaul, maybe check out Will Self.
Rilke, “letters of a Young Poet”
Read Huang Po and Wei Wu Wei to burn away all of the above. Lol.

I originally got ENFP and I dived deeper into this MBTI subject and after introspecting, I got INFP and those were one of my darkest times in my life but after taking that test again with a lil less introspection this time and more sociable and funky lifestyle , I got ENFP back.
So my conclusion is MBTI does not matter too much, all of us possess multiple traits which can be found in almost all 16 of types. It just cherry picks those traits and forms a four letter word and I even looked into cognitive functions and personally I think I possess a little bit of everything which makes it furthermore confusing and non conclusive just like my comment lol.
