Really sorry to hear you’re still struggling with this Ray … Hope you are getting the right medical & physio care …It’s not a quick fix … But all the very best with your recovery …hope to see you riding soon 🤝👍
Thanks Paul. I seem to have an endless stream of appointments just now. But they are coming through a lot quicker than I was expecting. So hopefully they'll sort it in time for me ter get a few winter camps in... 😂😂😂😂😂
As some people are saying Ray I have had the same, it got very bad and have had physio as my shoulder froze. I decided to change from the sports bikes to the GS at 56 and that has helped a lot, I still get some tingling and numbness in the right arm and sometimes a bit of pain in the upper arm. Hope you have a speedy recovery.
Not trying to tell you what you should be doing Ray.....just letting you know my experience of a similar concern. Before getting the RT when I was 65, I had (still have) a Hayabusa which I guess is a similar riding position to your ZZR. I had noticed from my late 50's to mid 60's that I was finding it increasingly more uncomfortable to do longer trips (150 miles plus). Even though the busa had a flip up screen, if there was a bit of a headwind, it was still a struggle at around 80 mph. I was also becoming more and more susceptible to 'pins and needles' effect in my right wrist, even after a relatively short time. Getting the RT has made a significant difference. The bike has just turned 20000 miles since I bought it new in May 2020. I was down in Torquay last week for a few days exploring Devon but had to cut short the holiday to attend a funeral at St Helens crematorium on Thursday. I attended this from Torquay and then went on home to Norfolk afterwards completing 512 miles in the day through some horrendous weather until north of Gloucester. I was absolutely fine. On the very odd occasion, I may suffer a bit of the pins and needles thing but a few minutes in cruise control gets rid of it. I am sure it is all down to the riding position from my aspect. The RT is much more sit up and beg as it were. Maybe some bars which are higher and nearer to you to take the weight of your wrists may help. Whatever, hope you find the answer soon. Cheers Dave.
No worries David. I'm not sure it's the bike, cos the symptoms started when I hadn't ridden the bike for a month. Apart from a couple of rides around 30 miles. But I don't know what the cause is, till I get a diagnosis. Riding my usual distances is a proper no go just now tho. 👌👌
I had a very simler issue Ray but on the left arm was rushed into hospital as they thought i was having some sort of stroke. turned out i dish had collapsed and another buldging in my neck pressing on a nurve going down my left arm. have a talk with the doctor about is as i got given an anti inflamatory for nerves and it was like a life saver after a few weeks. i had to deal with the pain a long time befor they found the issue so sold the bike but im now finally bk on the road. hope u recover soon m8
Glad your on the mend Ray, as they say ‘youth is wasted on the young’, takes a lot longer to recover as you get older, but you’ll get there…sit on some more bikes at the Motorcycle show in Nov👍👍👍
Hopefully you have a swift recovery. Perhaps you could consider going pillion on the back of Paul’s NC. I am already smiling at the thought of the comedy value that would have.
Been reading others comments , I know u are grateful and appreciate all that love and boy how the boys and girls care and feel your pain , can I suggest u go 🛠Docs and keep going back and sorry to suggest this but exaggerate , why because they need to find this Nerve damage , I pray it's not keep shifting position as much as poss and please keep bugging doc, it's important we all can't wait for better news ; sure I speak for all
Thanks Brendan. They know where it is, and they know it requires time and exercises. If there were no improvement, they would offer physio. I am making reasonable progress tho, so probably won't need the latter. Thanks for watching. 👌
Hi ray you no me from this years new broom meet up which for me was a blood disaster what with my tent and my Arthritis and as its in both knees and left hip riding my motorbike is something i love to do but no pain killers work any more so riding my motorbike is bloody painful i love meeting you paul and all the gang to have a Laugh and the piss taken out off us all after a days ride and some off us try to be stunt riders it come down to one thing as much pain you have try to keep going because once its gone its gone i did miss it this year but will try again next year because this bastard is not beating me with new knees or not so ray thank you for being honest so to you and the lads hopefully i will see you next year (and thanks for the talk we had together) hope to see you soon thanks ray
You don't need to introduce yourself strimmer.... I know wgo you are.. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Sitting here, when it's sunny, and can't get out on the bike, is extremely frustrating. Knowing what I'm like, I'll get out again sooner than I really should.. 👌😂😂
Hi ray i am sure you will like you say we prey for days like this and i went out for a hour last week and still not right yet but wifey is droping me off at my local royal enfield meeting tonight so a few beers and a chat than hopefully may try at weekend i no the lads from the club will have a ride out tomorrow but i wish any way all the best ray hope to see you soon strimmer dave
@@davidduffy7994 An hour here, an hour there, all adds up Dave. Don't rush yourself, and I think it's good you've got a local club, and a supportive wife, every little helps, and hopefully you get yourself back to normal soon.. 👍👍👍👍
Hiya Ray, really sorry to hear you've been suffering with your arm, I feel for you, really. When I ride my Suzuki 650F (with it's busy engine) I find that my right hand tingles at times and I have to shake it out. We've even put some handlebar risers to get a more 'sit up and beg' position, which helped a little, but just to get that leaning forward weight off my hands. I wonder if it's time to get yourself another motorbike that's not as sporty? I'm thinking of changing bikes myself. Have fun camping again & hope you get your arm sorted ASAP. x
Thank you... I'm waiting for tests an assessments, then I'll know where I stand. I see tingling hands as 'par for the course', it's just a price I have ter pay for a long tour. It usually clears after the 3rd or 4th day leaving just a slightly numb thumb. . 😂😂😂😂😂
Isn't it Adventure Bike time Ray. I loved my Sprint GT but in that semi sport riding position neck ache was killing me so I moved over to Tiger 800,s and now a 900 (well, 888) and now I am sat almost bolt upright and can ride all day (well, I still get bumache after a while. 😊
Sorry to hear your aches n pains are catching up with you mate, happens to us all, apart from the pain killers my only suggestion would be "Magnesium Oil"in the spray bottle,my right shoulder gives me some "jip" and that helps a hell of a lot,as an ex painter that's how mines ducked, not through any other means lol,,,,honest ;-) although i've been called it a few times lol ;-) PS Has the Big tour fallen through ???? Ride Safe Mr B \m/
Both Paul and myself had big issues this year, mine came two weeks before departure... Then me arm went stupid. I couldn't have done the first day never mind the rest. Already saving for next year... 👍
I don’t know how old you are, I’m guessing late 60’s? It’s total crap getting old. I stopped buying bikes with leant forward position in my 50’s for exact same reason you describe, neck, shoulder & arm pain. Took nearly a year to mend. Only go for upright position with wide bars. Now in my 60’s get lower back pain, but won’t give up.😊 I’m looking for used bike to keep long term, considering either a Kawasaki Versys 1000, BMW 1250GS or 1250RT. BMW have best overall package, but can become expensive without warranty. They have more issues than others, proven by Paul’s RT (although not having much luck with his NT1100). Wishing you a quick recovery and take it easy.
Hi ray been watching you now for years really enjoy watching you. But I think it is about time you gave up on the sports bike the riding position is no good for the older man. Ps I am older than you.
Hi, thanks for watching. I asked the doc, what was I not allowed to do? He said anything I think I can do, when I think I can do it, but the bike riding position doesn't sound like a good idea right now.. 😂😂😂😂
