I scored a 147 once, when I was 13 years old. Took about 5 hours 22 minutes. It was my first 18 hole round of golf. I've gotten better over the years but not by much.
Your 21 playing in front of TV cameras in the world championship knowing you could win £147,000 almost £250,000 in today’s money and you rattle in the fastest ever maximum break without hesitating this has to be one of the most flawless examples of sporting perfection ever. A world record which is already 23 years old and I suspect will never be broken
I have always said this is far harder to acheive than any other sports' "perfection", hattrick in football, see it all the time...Hole in 1on the golf course...1 shot, anyone can hit a hole in 1 on the day. Snooker, 36 perfect shots...yes thats 36!! Darts is next with 9 perfect shots needed.

When you’ve played snooker at any level you know there are a thousand ways of messing up every shot. This is perfection made to look ridiculously simple. Speed of thought, perfect cueing, incredible accuracy......astonishing.
I'm on my third day of playing/learning snooker, I can't even imagine making any of these shots. I've made a handful of decent shots by luck, but the simple ones I mess up on. This, and professionals in general, even anyone who can play the game at a decent level are very skilful!

Which would have been fine, if the people paying his wages weren't people who were hoping to be entertained rather than bored to tears. It was pure selfishness. Say all you want about Ebdon, but the fact is that he became world champion in 2002. That was a very tough tournament to win. He could play very positive snooker if he wanted to. Shame that he is known for playing so slowly after that win.
Just want to mention the referee Len Ganley, who had a little part in setting this record. One of the best and most respected referees ever. He always adapted his speed of refereeing to the speed of the game and the players. The perfect referee to set this record. I can think of other referees (without mentioning them ;) , with which this break would have taken minutes longer
I know a referee who gave a Ronnie a foul for being too fast. Else he'd have one century more to his credit. He was perfectly sweet about it. Personally I had thought even before the incident that this referee is too small to be efficient.
Great point. +he even had a look to see if Ronnie got the angle 2:03 Interest in the game as far as refs are concerned..probably makes a big difference.
@@SENZBIRMZ there is no way you can play best of 19 on coke. You would go climbing the walls and chatting to the cue ball. You sir are talking out of your arse hole.
It's hard to truly emphasize how hard this is to do, you can spend your whole life practicing this game and never make it past the 3rd or 4th red, the precision and coordination needed can only really be properly appreciated once you have realised how hard this sport actually is. It's a cliche but he really did make this look ridiculously easy, almost to the point of the routine. There are many contenders but for me this will always be the greatest break of all time. Given the speed, precision and the life changing prize money on the line I can't see how this will ever be topped.
It's not just the precision and coordination that make something like this or any 147 so amazing, it is the ability to see three four or five or more shots ahead and be able to execute. No matter how good one's precision and coordination are if they can't see the table at least three, four or five or more shots ahead their chances of making a 147 are almost impossible. It's similar to a great chess player. To be a Grand Master in chess you have to envision the board with all you opponents possible options a half a dozen or so moves ahead.
Agreed. Snooker tables look much smaller on TV. When you play at an actual table you appreciate how difficult it is even to pot sometimes, let alone get position for future shots. The way Ronnie breezed through this was just unreal.
Imagine being Mick Price, and knowing that your biggest claim to fame in snooker will now always be the fact that you sat there and watched Ronnie do this.
Yes, it's pretty fitting as Ronnie is on the pink, making something so incredibly hard look like a walk in the park. But imagine Murray Walker's commentary on it, since it was his dream to commentate on snooker? "My word, and.... yes!! I have never SEEN that BEFORE, in the WHOLE of.. my.. life!! Woooaaaw!"
Don't forget .. Ronnie is still somewhat of an underachiever when he was in his 20s. 19 majors is incredible, but could've been so many more. which is why he is the G.O.A.T
I'm guessing he wanted to prove to the world that he was the snooker champion, after his piss poor performance at the 1996 Mosconi Cup against Earl Strickland, even though he still won. He got a lot of heat for shooting the wrong ball against Earl, and i think he took that anger and transformed it into his snooker talent.
Yes I know. I trie 1 time and I Dont know the table of snooker is huge!? I missed 9 balls of 10. Was friendly game with friend who have a table in home. He dont play serius with me, but still is very long every shoot and I give up. Respect all players who do one 147 in his life. My maximum is 36 🇸🇮😆👍
I have trained snoooker for about one year (trainers said i was pretty well, i trained 3 times per week for couple of hours). After one year i was happy to pot 2 balls in a row (in a game, not in training). People do not understand how hard snooker really is.
I was 13 when Ronnie performed this miracle, and let's face it it really was a sporting miracle. I remember my dear departed grandad picking me up from school and telling me I was in for a real treat when the highlights came on later that evening, and by god he couldn't have been more right. Fast forward 27 years and I've just shown this to my 12 year old lad who started to show an interest in snooker during covid. I wanted him to spend a while playing and really understanding how difficult this game is before showing it to him, because only then can you appreciate what a transcendental few minutes this really is. As others have said, there isnt a chance in hell this record will ever be beaten. Respect to JV and especially Dennis for their pitch perfect commentary too - despite being a world champ himself Dennis was truly one of us that day, just a fan watching in awe as his own sport was perfected in front of his very eyes. I've downloaded a copy of the vid in case it should ever disappear from TH-cam - I want to be able to tell my grandson one day that he's in for a real treat when I collect him from school one Monday evening in the future.
No-one will ever dismantle the game of snooker so thoroughly, so comprehensively, and with such ease and speed ever again. Strangely, his talent was so huge that it nearly sent him round the bend. Thankfully, he has been able to get a grip on his thoughts and feelings and find ways to cope that work for him.
@@roninsjourney7560 His diligence, dedication, and perfectionist approach to the sport may well have contributed to bouts of depression, mood swings, and drug/alcohol abuse. I believe he is doing well now as a presenter and ambassador for the sport.
@@Aldairionmany won't get this one😅😂😂😂although I despised Hendry when I was younger I would absolutely love to see him succeed in a comeback! He was talking to Mark Williams about it and said he was happy to knock a 50 in these days....Mark was telling him how a personal coach revived his career and that's why he's still on the circuit and still competing at the top level. Maybe if Hendry would humble himself and try it he could get back to some decent form. I honestly reckon he thinks that nobody could teach him anything about the game he mastered and thats to his own detriment!? Who knows I could be wrong! He may just be over the hill and not able to do what it takes to get to and stay at that level anymore! These guys practice up to 8hrs a day to stay on top form at all times. The amount of inner mental strength and focus, dedication that takes is immense to say the least. Some people can carry on and some simply can't. We are just blessed to be still able to watch the Rocket Ronnie still playing at his age and after so many successful years in the game. You really have to still love the sport to stay on top....and even then the love for the sport is not enough sadly!
Okay so technically if you watch it non-stop for 6 years ago, a day you can watch it 240 times. 240 × 365 = 87600 a year. 87600 × 6 = 525600 times. Pardon me sir, you've been lying this whole time..
Yes I am esame. I have 45 years and I remember ronny when I was in high school that time 1995 and for 1 time I see the snooker en eurosport. Later when I know who is the best I watch all bigest championships. That time was ronny just boy and Hendry was the best that time. I watch snooker almost 30 years and ronny the rocket IS the legend. Williams, Higgins, Wilson, Trump, Shelby, Robertson.. Is very good players But still a lot away from Ronny. 👍🇸🇮💪
Every TH-cam video, no matter what the content is has dislikes. The people who press the dislike do it on purpose because they have personal issues and dislike themselves. They are angry worthless people who take it out on youtube vids.
This is the one record in the history of sports that quite probably will not ever be broken. I think I’ve watched it over a dozen times, never gets old.
I've watched this so many times. I'm an expat American living in Scotland for more than 20 years. Gained not only an appreciation of the game while living here, but also for the understated British humour. Like when the announcer says, 'I'm beginning to get a bit excited,' he was so calm. If it was being held in the US with an American commentator, they would have heard him in China shouting about how insane what they were seeing was ;-)
It's the way you are brought up. I'm a chess player/fan, and I am struggling to cope with the newly arrived US style commentary on chess games. It might well be appropriate for wrestling, baseball and football, but for snooker - and chess - understatement is the way to go.
Expat lol. When Americans and Brits emigrate to other countries, they refer to themselves as 'expats'. When people from any other country go to UK or USA, they are referred to as foreigners/immigrants. Illogical!
The most expensive 5 minutes ever.... 147,000 pounds for the 147 22,000 pounds for the maximum break 169,000 pounds for the world record speed for a grand total of 338,000 pounds
The most beautiful aspect of this game is that he not only did this effortlessly, he just went for it because why not? At his level back then, what's the point of just winning when you can deliver one of the most impressive feat in sports with just as much ease and enjoyment. No other 147 break will ever compare to this, this is not only mastery, it's total genius and confidence for the public to appreciate. Even If you know nothing about snooker it's hard to believe what is going on when watching this. Impossible to not admire this game and Ronnie as a person and his anticlimactic mic drop like it is nothing.
Been watching snooker for 50 years - and none could live with ronnie at his best Davis and hendry might have wore him down occasionally But ronnie is the best i have ever seen
To be honest, people who have never played Snooker (even though Pool), cant even imagine what that means. The very very most amateur players wont play any 147 in their whole lifetime. And then in this speed. This is absolutely nuts, this is like...if someone says a marathon in 2 hours is unbelievably fast, and then someone comes over and runs it in 1:30 hours. Absolutely mindblowing.
@@kevinwheeler6838 It's true though, snooker players may win a pool tournament or at least rank high, yet pool players can't even hold a snooker cue. You being mad is childish and weird.
What you are seeing, is truly something special. Ronnie O'Sullivan, the greatest Snooker player who ever lived, playing one of the greatest matches, with the best referee for the job, and during one of the greatest eras for Snooker. It is remarkable. And I still can't stop coming back and rewatching.
The thing I love about the break is, you only see mick price once on the camera while ronnie is doing what he does....mick is simply smiling at someone in the crowd happy for ronnie at what he was about to achieve.
And the commentary is perfect for it. Silences, followed by "I don't believe this!" Even the audience is mainly quiet. Thank heaven nobody has thought of adding music, or repeating a shot. He's married to the table, and we secretly watch ! J.
Ignore the incredible performance...this is the speed snooker referees should perform today. The man is keeping the momentum going. What happened to that?
Yeah that’s why even Ronnie won’t be able to make this break even quicker, the refs are not fast enough round the table ,probably only Yan ver hass would be up there but he’s pretty much retired now .
I can never watch this enough, absolute perfection. Ronnie O'Sullivan has so much more natural talent than any other Snooker player in history, and now at the age of 45 his stats speak for themselves, holds almost all the records and with some has done for many years, will this fast a 147 ever happen again? I don't think so. What a man, what a legend.
I remember so vividly sitting down to watch this match as a 14 year old back in '97 Wonderful to see it all over again, the genius that is Ronnie O'Sullivan. Love hearing Virgo and Taylor as well!
It was unbelievably fast. Even great players would struggle to do a century break in that time but Ronnie is beyond great. There will never be another player like him for sheer natural talent.
A big reason as to why this was achievable was the role played by the referee. On 14 of the 15 reds, he had the black back on its spot by the time (or before) the white stopped rolling. The only time he placed the black a bit late was after 3rd red, where he placed it some 1/2 a second after the white had stopped. Big credit goes to this official, who was part of history that will most likely never be repeated, but I've never seen him being given any credit. I could be mistaken, but I do not recall reading anything anywhere about this official's role.
Never thought about it. But yes, definitely len ganley played a huge part in it. I watched it live and laughed ,thinking the ref can't keep up. But without him there, it wouldn't have happened, or it would have taken slightly longer.
Dont act like you didnt watch ronnies reaction on this video a couple days ago before you made this comment . Lol trying so hard for validation my guy as ronnie already pointed out the refrees role that you copy pasted it here
@@mann3176 Why you so mad that he's sharing that though? I hadn't seen that reaction from Ronnie nor would I have noticed what role the ref played. Maybe he's just sharing something he thought was insightful and interesting to know, he's not exactly claiming to be the most knowledgeable person on snooker is he? Chill out and just appreciate the video lmao
The glasses are for the practical purposes of being a snooker player. Many people that play pool or snooker that wear glasses when they lean over to play the shot their eyes look over the frame of their glasses so can't see their shot, so a few snooker players have worn specially designed glasses that cover the top of their eyes so they can see when they lean over.
@@samkidd5433 It wasn't r/whoosh, the OP was making a joke, but the joke was about the fashion trends at the time the OP likely didn't know that many snooker players wear larger glasses for practical purposes around the table.
@@24magiccarrot I'm sure he is aware of that, it is the origin of the joke. It was you chiming in with the explanation that warrants the whoosh because it goes without saying. That's why the joke is funny, no need to explain it, we got it.
@@samkidd5433 I'm almost certain he isn't aware of that, Dennis Taylor for one only mentioned it relatively recently that his glasses choice was due to practicality and not fashion and only people that play pool/snooker seriously and wear glasses would be aware of the issue of looking over the rim of their glasses, it's not something I have heard openly discussed as an issue on a regular basis and certainly never heard it discussed among anyone who isn't an enthusiastic cueist. Probably less than 10% of the people watching this video will play pool or snooker regularly outside of a casual game down their pub, and only a small percentage of those will wear glasses whilst playing. You obviously lack awareness of what information those around you likely know.
The things this guy has achieved....will never be surpassed,he's probably the old guard by todays standards, but he's still out there kicking ass.like him or loathe him,he's number 1 for many reasons.
I’m 41 now. I was doing my homework at the time. I’m from Dublin. I wasn’t a huge snooker fan before 97 but was from Thst year on (for obvious reasons). Ken was amazing that year but I still think it was the Londoner who ignited my love of the game. I was doing math homework and my dad called me down the stairs. He sat in his chair and said “watch this, you’re about to witness some sorts history”. When Ronnie pot the black , I looked at my dad who was silent through it all. He was a silent man. He just said one word. “Brilliant” And he was so right
He is already the greatest of all time with 21 Triple Crown titles. Seven world championships, seven UK championships, seven Masters championships. No one else comes close.
My highest brake was 96....missed a pink not far off the middle bag. This was 20years ago, I can still recall how sick I felt as I had been chasing the tonne break for about 5yrs by that point. All I wanted was to just make one 100+ break so my name and break could be engraved onto the clubs notorious 100+ brake placard! I had made countless 50's 60's 70's and 80's over those years but could never quite get that tonne!🙃😒 I stopped playing league snooker because of back problems and issues with my knees for around 15yrs. Got covid back in October 2021 and almost lost my life. Had clots on both lungs, then contracted double pneumonia months later, just recently was diagnosed with myocarditis from the covid complications. Felt hopeless and like I was giving up on life. I felt like my whole essence and spirit was giving up on life. I was spending more time in bed than I was out of it! I decided that I had to do "something at least" that would get me moving again, something I enjoyed and something I knew I was good at so I choose to dust off my old cue and start playing again, simply to get me out of the house, on my feet and walking again. To my surprise I am still struggling and having very difficult days but I am playing the best snooker of my life. My eyes have gotten worse over the years but I found a pair of glasses that allow me to play whilst still being able to see clearly through the lense whilst down on a shot! This has helped me no end, my enthusiasm for the game has returned even though I get tired very quickly because my heart is not functioning ad it should and by the end of a match night I am properly exhausted😴 I am back knocking in 70's 80's 90's and even did a 122 clearance in line up "practice". I've made many 30's 40's and a few 50's in practice matches and did a 33 break in a league match a few weeks ago after only 10wks back in the league after 15yrs out. My goal is still to get my name engraved on that placard in the snooker club along side all the great players that have come and gone before me, one of them was my uncle Gary Morgan who was a great semi pro player and a regular tonne breaker. The myocarditis has shortened my lifespan considerable but if I can achieve my goal of that tonne on the board before I depart this earth it would really make my day! I honestly believe I can do it. Its just going to be one of those days when everything feels right and bobs your uncle there it will be after all these years of trying! It's uncanny how your life can be turned upside-down in an instant and even more uncanny that something like a game of snooker could literally be helping save your life. I know this story has nothing to do with this video of Ronnie's masterful 147 but after catching the bug again I am watching more snooker clips...that is something I havnt been interested in doing in years! Well...here is to my first ever tonne break. Let's get it done🎱 If anybody read this that's struggling mentally or physically with your health and feels like giving up, there is always something out there worth fighting for! Even something as silly and irrelevant as having your name scribed on a placard so that the ones that come after me can see that i was one of the few that actually did it! What I'm trying to say is find something you once loved and put your attention into that instead of worrying about tomorrow! Tomorrow may never come, literally! Make the most of the people that love you guys. Get rid of the ones that don't. When you find yourself in a position of hardship you will very quickly find out who is worth keeping around and who is not! Sad but very very true. Family first ALWAYS! ❤🎱❤🎱❤🎱❤ P.s took me 4mins to write this message, took the ultra genius Rocket Ron just 1min 7seconds longer to make a flawless 147 break, the fastest by any player in history....absolutely unbelievable....as the motorcycle racer Guy Martin once said "the word unbelievable is so overused" when a man eats his own head that will truly be unbelievable😂😂😂yes he really said that😁I think this is the closest thing your going to get to unbelievable as a man eating his own head!🤪Guy Martin...another one of our eccentric genius Brits! Still in shock about this today. A 147 maximum break in 5 minutes, I sometimes just stare at a snooker table in dis-belief. One of the greatest things you will see in any sport in your life. Will never happen again, well played Ronnie, the Messi of snooker.😀
There will never again be a genius of this game like ronnie. His talent is basically supernatural. We are lucky to have lived in an era were we witnessed such a master of their profession. I doubt there will ever be a player who comes even close to this man when he's on his game.
In my opinion, this equates to Tiger Woods getting 3 hole in ones on an 18 hole course, or Messi scoring 100 goals in a football season. It SHOULD be impossible. It's ridiculous. The greatest sporting achievement ever, in my humble opinion. It's truly a work of art. Anyone who says this isn't remarkable, has never seen a snooker table up close, let alone played a frame on one.
It's better. I play gold and it's pure luck. Ya haven't a clue. His the the greatest sportsman of all time and no one knows it. Tragic. He's said he doesn't want it. Should have been nominated in the 90's for winning the UK at 17 and the master's 19 still holding the record for both as the youngest winner, unfortunately his family history put the blocker's on that for many years,"fuck em Ronnie" !
@@matabas_1209 Well, you say "Ronnie making a 147 before the light from the sun hits earth". I can conclude that this match was aired when it's yet to be dawn in the USA...
I think hes talking about how it takes light roughly 8 minutes to reach the earth from the sun. So even traveling at the speed of light Ronnie O'Sullivan can perform a 147 break faster than it takes light to reach the earth.
Most people, including players, can't even begin to imagine the skill it takes to move the cue ball around the table like that, let alone at that speed. Especially center stage, under immense pressure.

@@jongalt1776 Nowadays I would say its closer to a dozen actually. However, engine prep plays a major part in chess. Here its just head.
He sure had enough alcohol in his veins to keep him from trembling
Agreed. Snooker tables look much smaller on TV. When you play at an actual table you appreciate how difficult it is even to pot sometimes, let alone get position for future shots. The way Ronnie breezed through this was just unreal.

Dennis Taylor’s little murmured “I don’t believe this” is probably my favourite piece of commentary from any sport ever, just brilliant
Came back to watch this just to hear that (this time). Lol The astonishment in his voice is crystal clear. He knows he’s watching history being made.
Was watching this live and when he said that I said back to the television, "You and me both Mr. Taylor."
@ml.2770 What a ridiculous, pompous, self aggrandizing comment.
It would have been more fitting for Mar Selby's 6 minute shot, waiting for him to make his mind up.
Yes, it's pretty fitting as Ronnie is on the pink, making something so incredibly hard look like a walk in the park. But imagine Murray Walker's commentary on it, since it was his dream to commentate on snooker? "My word, and.... yes!! I have never SEEN that BEFORE, in the WHOLE of.. my.. life!! Woooaaaw!"
Most triple crown titles
Most career century breaks
Most 147 breaks
The greatest of all time.
Don't forget .. Ronnie is still somewhat of an underachiever when he was in his 20s. 19 majors is incredible, but could've been so many more. which is why he is the G.O.A.T
And now with a sixth world championship
Most ranking titles won
I'm guessing he wanted to prove to the world that he was the snooker champion, after his piss poor performance at the 1996 Mosconi Cup against Earl Strickland, even though he still won. He got a lot of heat for shooting the wrong ball against Earl, and i think he took that anger and transformed it into his snooker talent.
Yes, Ronnie’s career is amazing; but I’m happy to see, if Trump will tackle some of these numbers - and how soon.
If I'm feeling a bit down I come back to watch Ronnie's incredible 147. It always cheers me up.
For any non snooker players who have just happened to watch this, please believe me when I say that snooker is an incredibly hard game to play.
Well...This is a world record and he made it look so easy. Only a real pro can do that.
Yeah I wouldn’t worry about this disappearing from you tube … as long as there are humans in the universe this will be remembered
The fact that the guy who posted this 5 years ago is still liking comments now is so wholesome❤️
What happened?

He was talking to Mark Williams about it and said he was happy to knock a 50 in these days....Mark was telling him how a personal coach revived his career and that's why he's still on the circuit and still competing at the top level. Maybe if Hendry would humble himself and try it he could get back to some decent form. I honestly reckon he thinks that nobody could teach him anything about the game he mastered and thats to his own detriment!? Who knows I could be wrong! He may just be over the hill and not able to do what it takes to get to and stay at that level anymore! These guys practice up to 8hrs a day to stay on top form at all times. without question....THE GREATEST achievement in the history of the game
I've watched this so many times. I'm an expat American living in Scotland for more than 20 years. Gained not only an appreciation of the game while living here, but also for the understated British humour. Like when the announcer says, 'I'm beginning to get a bit excited,' he was so calm. If it was being held in the US with an American commentator, they would have heard him in China shouting about how insane what they were seeing was ;-)
Same here bro. I am an expat too and been watching snooker for about two years. Way more exciting and difficult.
Illogical!
Went to put the kettle on...

22,000 pounds for the maximum break
169,000 pounds for the world record speed
for a grand total of 338,000 pounds
All of that in 320 seconds, which makes for an hourly rate of 3.802.500 pounds per hour. Not bad.
And to think, all it took was 15 years of complete devotion to his craft!

No other 147 break will ever compare to this, this is not only mastery, it's total genius and confidence for the public to appreciate.
Even If you know nothing about snooker it's hard to believe what is going on when watching this.

The referees today do like to take their time.
True but no one (including Ronnie) plays snooker at this pace in todays game.

It was unbelievably fast. Even great players would struggle to do a century break in that time but Ronnie is beyond great. There will never be another player like him for sheer natural talent.
This record will never be broken again. Not even Ronnie himself can better this amazing feat.
Cliff Thorburn was only on the 6th red of his 147 by the time Ronnie potted the last black of his.

The nerves and determination shown here is unprecedented - I just can't believe Mick Price showed up in public with those glasses.

“Brilliant”
And he was so right
Brilliant
I’m glad it’s finally been corrected to 5 minutes 8 seconds. I’ve been saying for years it was wrong
I did my first 147 at the pub yesterday but it took me 8 minutes. This guy’s my inspiration.
Yeah, but that was darts
He is now 7th time World Champion. Now he needs it just one more time to be the greatest of all time.
hes been the goat for pretty much a decade now no one compares
He already is the GOAT, he's way ahead of Hendry in every other significant statistic.
He was GOAT even with 3 world titles!
He is already the greatest of all time with 21 Triple Crown titles. Seven world championships, seven UK championships, seven Masters championships. No one else comes close.
Hendrys admitted many a time Ronnies in his own league. It’s rare in sport to have someone who is the certified goat but Ronnie is that.
I had made countless 50's 60's 70's and 80's over those years but could never quite get that tonne!🙃😒
I stopped playing league snooker because of back problems and issues with my knees for around 15yrs.
This has helped me no end, my enthusiasm for the game has returned even though I get tired very quickly because my heart is not functioning ad it should and by the end of a match night I am properly exhausted😴
I am back knocking in 70's 80's 90's and even did a 122 clearance in line up "practice".
Let's get it done🎱
If anybody read this that's struggling mentally or physically with your health and feels like giving up, there is always something out there worth fighting for!

Not quite like 3 holes in one over 18 holes. That’s a little over the top.
It's better. I play gold and it's pure luck. Ya haven't a clue. His the the greatest sportsman of all time and no one knows it. Tragic. I've played and followed many sports but my God no one comes close to his genius, Messi, Woods, Fed, Brady, etc. His the pound for pound GOAT. FACT And the world doesn't know SAD
@@drvs2262Agreed. I don’t care who you are, there’s a large element of luck in order to get a 🕳️ in one. No luck compiling this maximum. Just pure skill, pure genius. Definitely one of the most astonishing feats in all sport. There have been ever more maximums made since 1997 but no one has come close to 5m 20 secs.
My highest break is 15
@@drvs2262 Takes luck to get 3 holes in one. There was no luck involved here.
Speedrun snooker glitchless.
Only one guy can do this...
Never even been nominated for sports personality of the year.....absolutely criminal.
It is. And to achieve all this against the background that your dad is in pokey for murder shows the sort of strength of character this country needs and needs to recognise. Sod the BBC and their Sports Personality, sod the Establishment. The amount of kudos this guy brings the UK in the rest of the world is massive. Lords Botham, Hamilton and O'Sullivan. Come on Boris.
He's said he doesn't want it. Should have been nominated in the 90's for winning the UK at 17 and the master's 19 still holding the record for both as the youngest winner, unfortunately his family history put the blocker's on that for many years,"fuck em Ronnie" !
This could be on the television right now in 2019 I couldn’t tell.
Back here again I can never see this being beaten & I doubt we will ever see anyone. Better than the rocket
I still get goosebumps when I watch this. Still the greatest televised 147. And in all likelihood never going to be beaten.
Ronnie making a 147 before the light from the sun hits earth is the most amazing comparison I can think of today.
Are you typing this comment in the USA?
@@madkhaliqfarhan No. Why do you ask?
@@matabas_1209 Well, you say "Ronnie making a 147 before the light from the sun hits earth". I can conclude that this match was aired when it's yet to be dawn in the USA...
I think hes talking about how it takes light roughly 8 minutes to reach the earth from the sun.
So even traveling at the speed of light Ronnie O'Sullivan can perform a 147 break faster than it takes light to reach the earth.
When this genius took up a cue and started to play was the best thing that ever happened to the game of snooker. Absolutely brilliant.
This was 21 years ago...
Most people, including players, can't even begin to imagine the skill it takes to move the cue ball around the table like that, let alone at that speed. Especially center stage, under immense pressure.
Incredible. Liked Dennis Taylor's comment "This would be the first 147 I've commentated on", then is basically silent for the whole thing!
This is amazing also the person who posted this is still liking after 10 years respect man
Hard to believe that this was 27 years ago
Feels like only yesterday
I hate ads on TH-cam. Recently this video was striked and now they are running ads on it to monetize. Sorry about that. Can't do anything about it. I hope most of you are using ad blockers or are using "TH-cam Vanced" on rooted Android phones.
People use TH-cam without ad blockers? lol
Nate Davis Unfortunately many people still do. Specially those on mobile.
is there a decent ad blocker for mobile devices?
@@theultimatesoundcravingcha293 AdAway and Unified Hosts Block for rooted phones. There are some browsers with adblocker for non rooted phones.
Download the ' Brave' browser. No ads at all!!
I randomly stumbled across this video a few years ago. Never played or watched snooker before, but as a long-time barroom pool player I could appreciate the technique and precision at work here. I come back from time to time to just sit and grin my ass off at how easy Ronnie makes this look.
The stars alligned for Ronnie on this day. A spiritual experience.
Greatest sportsman the world as ever seen 5 mins 20 seconds for a 147 thats like gettin 3 hole in ones right after one another in golf
This is the most unappreciated achievement in any sport. So difficult to do anyway but to do it in that time is just unthinkable. That was a master at work
I've seen this video 3 times and I still get goose bumps watching it. Rocket, thank you for all you've done to bring joy to people's lives.
