Not if your going for the million. The ask the audience lifeline is almost always useless in those upper tier questions. The 4 choices would just spread the percentages out more. You could end up with 25% across the board there. I think he did the right thing by using the 50/50 lifeline first.

The clicking was possibly the sound of a corded phone making noise. I just think his phone-a-friend was with a group of people and somebody knew the answer.
