Sorry for the double upload, I had an audio sync issue with the previous version, so i re-edited it and reposted it. Now it looks like it's got a different audio sync issue. Sometimes a video editing project just fights you every step of the way. This is one of those times.

I have it on my fat bike and love the plushness of it but dont like when it strech out and ear a klong sound. Also the true axel that de need 2 ex key is better for stiffness as they say. Very easy To service but put thick grease on the sping to keep it quiet. Love this fork

if the rebound is , even all closed , like a pogostick the adjustmentroot is not closing enough. this is because of the wrong set hole ninths adjustment spacer witch is underneath the red cap of the damper rebound adjustment cap. this needs to be a little longer to the down side then it works out fine . and i putt in different oil . 10 w40 motoroil. that is an experiment. but work s good for me

Wren did one of the best things they could sending this your way. Not that other reviews are bad, but its all been mostly bikepackers that don't actually dig into fork performance or all the features. You're the first I've seen even talking about the AC variability alongside travel. Let alone actually taking it apart on screen and doing it. Really looking forward to your ride review in the future. Wonder if you'll get brake flex. I think I read somewhere they're also making a version, or maybe it was a modified bashguard, that has intrinsic m5 bosses for bolting down your things.

I've always liked the look of inverted forks, eg: the Shiver SC, Maverick, etc. The biggest downside to them has always been torsional rigidity issues. The audience that Wren is playing to (bike packers, endurance racers, etc.) this may probably not be as much of a concern. However, in gnarly terrain beneath an aggressive rider it's attributes might not be ideal, ie an aggressive 200 lb rider doing something chunky like Hiline or similar. FWIW, my favorite fork at the moment is the Zeb due to it's incredible rigidity and bottomless feel. I almost want to put a 150mm one on the hardtail I'm building.

  • @Lenswide

It seems that it doesn’t cope with a lot of stress. My wren probably got bent 1-2 degrees. I have to check. Also doesn’t seem to have negative air chamber. Top out noise is annoying. Poor axle design, poor wiper design, no specific bath oil and more to blame.
    I don’t recommend it.

I am always suspicious of inverted forks- reviews I have read of every inverted fork except one comes out saying they're torsionally flexy. This is true even though fork makers have invented all kinds of techniques to solve this problem:
Maverick DUC32- dual crowns, baseball bat-sized upper legs, proprietary 24mm axle
DVO- use of the slider guards as a brace, collets (sleeves) between the crown and upper legs (second feature didn't make it to market)
Rock Shox RS1- 27mm axle (OK, a fake 27mm axle- only the center section is this thick)
Manitou Dorado- IIRC, the reason Manitou invented Hexlock, its six-sided thru-axle, was to bring some stiffness to their previous USD fork offering, the Millenium
X-Fusion- channels between inner and outer legs (this fork didn't make it to production)
Cannondale- dual crowns, square (now triangular) interlocking legs, one-piece leg-axle
The only one of these forks that didn't get complaints in reviews about torsional flex was the Cannondale, and it went all out. Will the Wren solve this problem? I doubt it, but I'll keep an open mind; maybe it has other benefits for some riders that will outweigh this issue.

I like this idea. I HAVE seen another brand of fork doing this. Not sure who it was but a few folks on PinkBike have them and they're in other countries mostly--not very common either.
I swear when I was younger I was wondering WHY forks weren't made like this. I thought for weight and balance it should actually be this "inverted" way. To be fair, many motorcycles also have the inner stanchions at the top (but I get what you're referring to--just wanted to 2-cents).
I'd like to see if they make a dual crown version. Now without the typical reinforcement arch, are these forks less "stiff", or with this inverted design do they achieve that stiffness because the typical "lowers" are now at the top?
The brilliant thing they did was eliminating the inner stanchions that were exposed from being vulnerable by damage effecting the seal. Kind of makes one wonder why FOX or Rockshox hadn't thought of this sooner?
SO! WheeeeeRE'S the "review" ride? Can't wait to see how you liked them.. and I'll bet they were excellent.

So if I needed a 130mm 29 fork for this build and a 140 mm 29er fork for a future project I wouldn’t need to buy a new fork. Plus you can play around on any build to see if you like a travel height that you original thought might be a no go.

So I’m curious about how the airspring is supposed to work, they say that adding pressure to the bottom moves the piston, reducing the volume of the positive spring. But if the piston can move freely when you change the pressure, would the piston not just move when the fork compresses? The instructions specifically say that the pressure will always read the same on both chambers, so the piston would just move proportionally to the compression of the fork?

    • @hardtailparty

The lesser unsprung weight, the easier it is to achieve both effective and comfortable suspension. That's just physiscs, and that's why high end motorcycle and cars tend to use lighter materials there.
Is it something Wern is looking for when designing this fork? Considering they're accepting to add more weight to include all those unusual features, it's probably not.
Now will it make a difference in an already light ride like a bicicle? You let us know :-)

    It's like a 2 sided lefty. 😁
Neat concept but I wonder how the torsional stiffness will be with two completely independent sides using a traditional round bushing setup. The Lefty has a triangular piston in a triangular hole with needle bearings and as such has better torsional stiffness than a regular dual station. This seems like it would make torsional stiffness even lower than a regular fork with no arch connecting them. I like the idea they're going for though, looking forward to seeing how it feels.

All high end forks only have the spring in one leg. The arch provides the job of keeping the fork stiff and keeping the legs parallel. Since this is upside down, the crown acts as the arch to keep it all stiff.

Nope. I've just been having reliability issues with the fork, and I was hoping to get them replaced before I review. Unfortunately, I don't know if there's a fix for the issues. I cannot recommend them right now.

@@hardtailpartymissed the reply. I have had good luck since early 2021. I am not too hard on it other than being overweight and sucking at drops/jumps 😂

I first learned of this fork on Ryan Van Duzer's channel. It's good to hear your take on it. Glad to see this tech and design entering the market! I definitely prefer the stanchion guards in place. Since "legs" sound weird when the fork is inverted we called them "top tubes" in the past. Not sure if that's still the lingo.
