- On August 15, 2012 Cardinal Timothy Dolan made a visit to the Woodcrest Bruderhof in Rifton NY. In the spirit of solidarity and Christian fellowship, the discussion touched on how to keep an open dialogue with and heart to all humankind. Conversations included the importance of nurturing children and young people and how the deep joy of a faith-filled life is an invitation to others to discover Jesus. The late Pope John Paul II spoke along these lines as well: "Even in struggle solidarity remains open to dialogue," and "Solidarity, of its very nature, provokes action (including, at times, confrontation) but it does so always on the basis of a vision of community and of calling to full membership of that community."
I love that, that each baby is a sign that God wants life to go on.

Funny I should watch this video today, I'm in the middle of reading "Homage to a Broken Man", and I just got to the bit in November 1940, at the end of the English Bruderhof community at Aston Fields, when Heiner and Annemarie Arnold gave birth to Johan Christoph Arnold, whilst bombs were regularly falling nearby, and I've just realised the brother speaking in the video must be the same man, 72 years later!

Stephen was sought out by Bro. Rudolf some 20 yrs. ago learning of Stephen's work after being shot. He was unaware the Stephen was a policeman at that time. . They became fast friends and collaborated, once travelling to No. ireland with their message. Godincidence; The Bruderhof bought what was formerly the NYPD Recreation Centre, Elka Park, NY. . When they learned of this (retired cops 7/or kids stopping by for old time sake), they have now a Police Memorial site on the property for their viewing.The Bruderhof originated in Germany, fleein Hitler went first to So. America, They have another location near New Paltz, each entity has a particular craft, I believe, Elka Park's is carpentry. They mourned Stephen's passing.

The teachings of the Roman Catholic Church he belongs to are a million miles away from what the community believe. Looks to me like he would be happier away from the RC church and living in the community.
What is a saint? What is a priest? Look to scripture for the answers. Love this man but let us not be conned into believing that we can be one with an organisation that has killed thousands of Christians by papal decree, and had people put to death for translating the bible into English. This man seems to love the Lord so I pray that he would find freedom from the religious institution.
