At 70 I have lost both parents when I was a young adult, then I lost a brother then a son and now my wife has died of breast cancer. As I look back if it had not been for my Faith I don’t know how I would have handled it all. I have 7 children, 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild. I pray for each one individually every day now. I was raised Baptist, but now live amongst 4 families of mennonites. I am Blessed.
Having faith is a wonderful thing, I too have had lots of challenges and without faith I really do not know where I would be right now. May God bless you, your parents, your brother, your wife and your son.
Aww my heart goes out to you. I'm sure the Lord has comforted you immensely. I love my hubby and if he should die, God Forbid it, but if he did I hope I can be as strong as you.
Your story means to me a testimony for holding on in faith to our creator, who gives and takes. Thank you for sharing. May you experience His peace in your heart.
WOW! When I saw the intro picture, I honestly thought that was your sister. I'm glad the your mom's word of advice was God first! Bless you and your family.
So sad to lose a child. I loved my children from conception, i can only imagine the pain your parents felt in the loss of your brother. My love to them both
My deepest sympathy to your parents. I lost my daughter when she was three days old and I have never forgotten her. How could I? I look forward to seeing her in Heaven. Big hugs to you all❤️❤️❤️
My sister died at 21 days but we didn't have photos taken in those days so I just have her birth and death certificates and burial record. My mother's diary about our childhoods is one of my most precious memories and includes a description of the birth , brief life, hospitalisation and death. Even now over 50 years on we remember our sister. I do wish we had had a photograph however.
The sisters of the Bruderhof have such a wholesome beauty because they glow from within. They are without artifice or guile. What you see is what you get. I’m not saying they’re perfect, but they are authentic.
Laura, you mom seems like such a special, wonderful woman. She’s def the woman who everyone turns to during chaos or uncertain times to keep everyone grounded and guided.
Beautiful hey ? Im almost 60 and i still love Anne ( lets not forget Ann with an E ! Haha. ) Im a christian mum and nanna ( grandma) ..this is so light hearted watching this lovely family 🙏✝️❤️🎻🎶😁
Your mother is a very wise woman and a good mom. A very touching story about your premature brother. Made me cry and what a healthy way your mother and father handle his death. Such a sweet video. Thanks!
Your mom reminds me a lot of my own mom, she sounds like such a sweet loving mom to have grown up with and a wonderful Godly influence for your family. I’m sorry for the loss of your oldest brother, I know the hardest loss a family can experience is the loss of a child. We lost my younger brother almost 10yrs ago, but sharing his story and remembering him has brought us closer together as a family and has only increased my faith knowing that God was with him even when we could not be. I just found your channel this evening and I’m enjoying all your videos, your faith and love for Christ shines through each of your posts 💜🦋
Such a beautiful mother and daughter relationship. How I would have love that. Yes, to everything Laura's mother says with regard to losing one's child which I can relate to.
what a beautiful treasure and blessing you have in your mom!! Your smiles are truly contagious...enjoying all those wonderful memories to cherish! Thank you so much for sharing....her teachings shine thru in you!
When her son would have been 28-29.. she was maybe 20 at his birth? Or do they marry very young and have kids? I would have guessed 20. So she might be in her late 40s, early 50s. She definitely doesn't look like it tho.. You guys should drop a skin care routine!
I love seeing all the different communities of Christ and their expression towards Jesus from around the world. The Bruderhof is one of my favorite. They are so precious! I feel so much love from them just from a video. Keep doing Gods work in your little niche of the world. Your small community has a big heart! I am sure the holy ghost loves joining you from day to day.
This was so beautiful!! Dorli spoke so much to my heart and the season I am in with my toddler. And then she talked about Steven and my heart sunk. We lost our youngest son in 2019 and I wish I could ask her, “how do you live with half of your heart on earth (with your living children) while the other half aches to be in Heaven?” Thank you ladies for this video 💕
I am so sorry for your loss! God bless you and your family. Book suggestion that I find very helpful dealing with loss: through the eyes of a lion. Maybe it helps you too!
Hi Heather, this is a message from my mom to you!: Thank you for your words. My heart goes out to you as you grieve. Stephen was my first, so I just wanted to go be with him in heaven! But I understand how your heart is torn. I took comfort from a friend who repeated this little prayer to me: “Lord, since I can’t take my son on my lap and tell him about you, can you take him on your lap and tell him about me?”
I’m so sorry for the loss of Stephen from your family. We lost our first (miscarriage). I love 2 Samuel 12:23b “I will go to him...” I know we can’t know for certain, but I know God is merciful and just and it gives me peace and hope to think we see our lost babies and children again. 💕
So glad to hear the word sacrifice enter your conversation. You rarely if ever hear couples or couples with children talk about sacrifice. I became very aware of what my mother sacrificed to raise my brother and I and I love her for it.
I think it is such a blessing to see your children grown up and continue in their Christian faith. Due to my girls father falling from faith, he abandoned his family and the years after were not how I would have chosen them. Now, neither of my girls follow Christ and resent the Christian part of their childhood. This all goes to the father who they felt was a hypocrite and the faith he did not follow. So you are right, a 2 parent family, serving the Lord is the best way to leave in this fallen world.
For me, Lauar, this is a "happy vid". I happen to have known your mom when she was a school girl. I was placed into her family while doing work on the new dining/meeting hall in Woodcrest. You two look strikingly similar, and I thoroughly enjoy your spunky, impish nature, Laura. Keep in up! I enjoyed watching this vid.
I enjoy all of your videos when I was younger I tried to find such a situation for me and my children but was unable to find a perfect fit but I am happy for you and yours.
Wow, hearing that her older brother would've been 28 made me realize how young she is. Can't believe I'm close to her age, I'm nowhere near being married or having children.
Dear Laura, i came across your videos through the TH-cam algorithm after seeing a documentary about The Bruderhof. After that your videos came up. I love your positivity. How do you and the Bruderhof deal with Covid-19? I send you and your family "stay happy and healthy greetings" from Germany 🌞

That was a great piece of insight into life wisdom! She wished them to have the stamina for keep to their path! That is a oft overlooked piece of life! Finding peace, happiness, health, and wisdom is great but without the mental and physical stamina to keep it, what good is it all! Excellent video!

I'm genuinely trying to gain a better understanding of Bruderhof, so I'd like to ask what you might consider very basic questions. For example, the first one which came up in this video, was why did your Mom change her birth name, and does that signify something in particular within Bruderhof? I appreciate that I could find websites which provide certain information, but I'd much rather ask someone who is _'personally living'_ within a Bruderhof community. This leads to my second straightforward question... What do *you* think of Bruderhof as? For example, a religion, a community, a sect, a collective way of living and so on? This video clarifies that your maternal grandmother was _'Bruderhof'_ (if that's they way to contextualize it?) But was your Mom's grandmother also _'Bruderhof',_ and what was the situation on your paternal family history? I suppose what I'm asking, is how many generations of your family are/were _'Bruderhof'?_ And do you know any history regarding what caused them to become _'Bruderhof'?_ Sorry to fire so many questions at you like this, but as I say, I'd like to hear first hand, and _'direct from the horses mouth'_ so to speak. Many thanks in anticipation of your understanding. Stay healthy.

How do you stop from being egoistic and self-centered? How do you stop from being ambitious in your careers? How do you remain humble but not insecure?
What about vanity? Not relying on any external trimmings to make you feel pretty? Do you feel pretty? What about depression and anxiety?
Hi Robin - I'm going to be answering your questions in a video soon. Keep an eye out for it! Thanks for asking - Laura
Hey Robin,
I have a history with depression. Since I've been depressed for almost half my life. At my deepest point I was desperate to get out of it and searched for a way out. That's when I came across Jesus and His power to drive the depression out. I commanded the depression to leave in Jesus name and I haven't been depressed since. Shortly after this I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour.
I think depression can't have a grip on you if you are a born again believer. This is my take on it.
God bless you in your search for answers!
