Because this is so 'new', there hasnt been treatment care of any kind, therapists are the BIGGEST HELP. You should know WHY this helps more than most because you can help the most! Thank you for digging into the facts. I found that massage every 9 days( for me ) followed by infra sauna helped TONS! Early care is imperative in preventing permanent damage to nerves, heart, vessels. (Including addressing the immune system after a week of viral activity) I chose to float in mineral water hot springs for pain relief, nerve soothing, nerve gliding, mobility. With continued care cardiac rehab can incorporated. The mineral water is a must as you will eventually find that minerals are deficient. Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) is essential, the cells need mag to make everything work and the mag needs a ride to the cell from sulfate. I was an LMT, I luckily knew about lymphatic drainage, infra red and HBOT, when I was hit. Mitochondria are on strike and not taking the garbage out of the cells. Backing up the lymphatics. Glymphatic back up is BRAIN PAIN! I have been bedridden home bound for 5 years this year. I have improved more than most and I have recovered 2 times prior. I do lymphatic work daily. Somewhere. I lost use of my arms and self survival maintenance has been my PT, along with walking any chance I can. I lay with legs up most of the day. If I do lymph drainage on one leg only, the next time I do the other. The face, the head, the neck. I sit in front of an infra red to heal nerves and to warm my bones and if Im lucky; sweat! Sweat is lymphatic drainage also. Massage. Watertherapy all wonderful help for the lymphatics. If your insurance does not cover a monthly massage, or your Dr hasnt recommended it ASK FOR IT! If you still cant get massage do lymphatic drainage! ❤️ I encourage everyone to use lymphatic work for your health ; currently external influence is more than our natural working systems can handle. 🌏 Self care self care self care I will be LOBBYING CONGRESS on April 20, 2023 for funding of the CARE for Covid Act. In the meantime please care for yourselves and Be GRATEFUL for this womans perfect information for the long haul. 🤜🏼🤛💐
I used your videos for chronic swollen lymph nodes in my neck months after covid, and the drainage routines completely cleared it up. Since then I have suggested these routines for those with allergies and they’ve also found very fast relief! Thank you 🙏🏼
This hypothesis is very similar to British neuroscientist and osteopath Dr Raymond Perrin who has been treating people with M.E/CFS & fibromyalgia (mystery chronic illnesses with similar symptoms to long covid) for over 30 years using the Perrin technique. His theory is based on a biochemical cause - inflammatory toxins from infections, allergies, pollutants, stress etc build up in the brain and spine due to poor lymphatic drainage which compromises the nervous system. Perrin practitioners use osteopathic techniques to manually stimulate the lymphatic system and correct poor posture so the body can start to detoxify properly. This will never make the mainstream as there is no profit in the cure.
Great summary! I’m a PT in Canada, have CFS and have been off work and pursuing recovery with Perrin technique, which is based on this hypothesis. I’ve had some improvement but it’s slow going, but I’m thankful for the knowledge base and considering all the areas where lymphatic drainage can be impaired. Would love to connect with you and discuss more - the discovery of the glymphatic system is exciting, and the hypothesis makes the most sense to me out of anything I’ve read for pathophysiology of CFS/Long Covid.
Doctors also ought to start dealing with the nervous system with Long Covid and to recommend modalities such as Feldenkrais Method or other Somatic practices.
I can't wait to try this. My smell and taste have been off since September 2020 because of covid. I fell asleep while dinner was in the oven. I burnt it and didn't even wake up from the smell of burnt food. Scary.
Thanks, Kelly, this is so exciting! I teach chair yoga and fitness classes for older adults- planning to incorporate some mild inversions, spinal movements, and maybe some simplified lymphatic drainage massage techniques into my classes to help them take good care of their brains!
OF PRECIOUS VALUE ~ thank you ! Your (in one of your comments mentioned) association between COVID and ME CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) gives me great reason to hope for help with this devastating, debilitating and so misunderstood and neglected illness.
Question...I didn't have a loss of taste or smell..but the other side of the spectrum...hyperosmia...which I'm still dealing with which is NO FUN. I'm assuming any distortion of smell should be included in symptoms.
When i feel my migraine coming usually thru my sinus I do her facial lymphatic massage. It's made a big difference...much less pain & the migraine is much shorter than i usually had. Check out her other videos on sinus & facial massage
@@CancerRehabPT OMG I'm so sorry! I was listening to this in bed last night and I thought I looked through the description already! I've been studying this viral:longhaul link for several years (as a 10+yr sufferer) and it's SO GREAT that FINALLY we are being taken seriously, as awful as it is that covid is the catalyst. Thank you again!
I’ve never heard a doctor recommend this. As a person living with Long COVID, Physiotherapist and chair of Long COVID Physio, I see no evidence providing any indications this would be an intervention to manage Long COVID symptoms and disability.
Respectfully, this is what the whole video is about. I discuss this *hypothesis* and share the only published papers (up to the point of recording) being used to explain it. See the description for the references. I even explain around minute 7, that ideally there are randomized control trials or higher levels studies, but as we all know, that takes time and things are still progressing. I am a certified lymphedema therapist and also a physical therapist/physio, so I just happen to work in a specialty area that does get referrals for this kind of treatment from providers. and, yes, I was confused and wanted to dig further to figure out why. So I am simply sharing what I found to help explain their reasoning and continued referring due to anecdotal support of their patients. On a side note, I think the glymphatic system findings and relational possibility with chronic fatigue syndrome and/or COVID are pretty interesting and something I am hopeful to see more research done on to benefit the population. Happy to chat more offline 🙂 Love to hear what you're doing in the long covid world as a physio!
Hi Darren, did you find anything useful for long covid, I have disturbed sleep/non refreshing sleep issue ? Would love to know if anything has helped you yet

Interesting!!! I had Covid earlier this year but lymphatic massage helped me so much with the long haulers I had.
Thank you so much for great information, and for including sources! Looking forward to next week, part 2.
Great information! I love the visuals while you’re explaining
Thank you so much for these resources!!

Very helpful information. Looking forward to second part
Hi..how often we need to do this ..I m suffering from long covid headache, neck pain ,jaw pain ,muscle weakness all body... kindly reply😊
thank yu so much! this is really helpful. & part two as well.
On male clients with a lot of body hair is using coconut oil ok and still effective? I have had mostly all women clients.

Can you do facial lymphatic massage during mild case of Covid?
Great video! You think this might also be the cause for phantom smells for long haulers?
Would relieving pressure from the glymphatic system reduce migraines?

Im curious if you have links to any of these article? Especially those that mention the damage to olafactory nerve and back up of CSF🙏🏼
Hello! The articles I spoke about in the video are in the description 🙂
