I have been learning Russian for nearly 3 years now and I know how you feel. Some people don’t correct my mistakes but they can hear I have some mistakes but some others get pissed off. I wouldn’t worry tho, personally as long as I’m understood I’m fine with it

Some people are having trouble distinguishing "один и тот же" from "тот же", and "одинаковый" from "такой же". Let's see if I can help:
    Look at these sentences:
У нас есть один и тот же начальник (we have 'one and' the same boss)
У нас есть тот же начальник (we have the same boss)
Here, the difference is essentially only in intonation, that is, it would be equivalent to:
We have the SAME boss.; and
    We have the same boss.
Which one will I need to use? The idea is: if there is a comparison, use "тот же", if there is not, it would be best to use "один и тот же", though you can use both.
    For example:
У НАС есть один и тот же начальник. (WE have the SAME boss)
У НЕГО есть тот же начальник, как и у меня. (HE has the SAME boss AS ME)
    Or even:
МЫ поступили в один и тот же университет. (WE got in the SAME university)
ОНА поступила в тот же университет, что и я. (SHE got in the SAME university AS ME)
    A more difficult one:
Он спросил её номер и позвонил ей в тот же вечер. Эти события произошли в один и тот же вечер.
(He asked for her number and called her in the SAME EVENING 'as the one she gave her number'. THESE TWO events happened in the SAME evening.)
-Here, we have an implied comparison in the first one (same night as the one in which she gave her number), so we use "тот же", while in the second sentence, there were just two things happening in the same evening, no comparison, so we use "один и тот же"
    One last thing about these:
"Один и тот же" can be used to refer to something that happened over and over again, for example:
Он задавал один и тот же вопрос снова и снова. (he asked the same question again and again)
Он всегда выбирает один и тот же обед. (he always chooses the same lunch)
Он постоянно ходит в один и тот же клуб. (he constantly goes to the same club)
About "одинаковый" and "такой же", I would say that there is no difference, except the first one is almost always plural:
У нас есть одинаковые футболки. (we have equal T-shirts; Fedor used this example, but in my opinion this should be in plural form)
У тебя есть такая же футболка, как и у меня. (you have the same T-shirt as me)
    That finishes up everything.

There is a problem with the first example. "У нас одинаковая футболка" is not correct. Yes, we (I'm a native) understand you. But it is better to say "У нас одинаковые футболки" or "У меня такая же футболка (как у тебя)".

Нет. Одинаковые это разные вещи, а один и тот же это одна вещь. У нас одинаковые футболки. У тебя своя футболка, у меня своя футболка. У нас одна и таже футболка. Мы носим её по очереди.

Yes, almost synonyms. The same/similar.If такой же is used in singular/plural while одинаковый is used in plural.
У меня такая же машина./У нас такие же машины.
      У нас одинаковые машины.
With имеем (have) it's possible to use singular form.
Мы имеем одинаковую машину.... . It's usually used(with "иметь to have" verb) for more certain sentences.(why/because,when,which and so on).

i think it wasn't super clear but his last point seemed to be that the response should match for the appropriate pronoun in the statement one is responding to, so if меня would be appropriate then it's what should be used. At least that's my understanding.

I’m confused by what you said about the same, but not exact copy. That’s the only way I would use that construction. “Oh wow, I have the same shirt at home.” Exactly the same. Print, design, color, whatever. Everything about it is the same except maybe the size. If I had something that was almost exactly like it, but it was a different color, I’d say that I have a similar shirt, not the same.

    • @Aeduo
      @Aeduo หลายเดือนก่อน

I think to differentiate from the exact same physical object. Like, the person didn't take your shirt from your home and now wearing it, it's just a shirt like that shirt that you have.

    • @sevenssymbols
      @sevenssymbols 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@Aeduoexactly, if it was the same exact shirt then you'd both be wearing one shirt. what he means by "not the same copy" is that both shirts are identical, but not a single shirt; ie, the difference between two people having two identical shirts and two people both having a single shirt at the same time.
