    It's common for airplanes to keep adjusting engine speed during landing.They do it to adjust to their assigned approach speeds. Also to keep from stalling during difficult wind conditions. Enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing.

    You made a comment in the video "Close to TOGA!" That is actually very normal for go-around. They increased the thrust when first instructed to go around, then as they raised the flaps they also increased the thrust so that they could do a good strong and quick climb. They won't go to full TOGA thrust right off the bat because they have the good possibility of accelerating thru the max flap speed (highest rated speed you can travel with the flaps in that specific position) But the sound from those engines are nice, huh

    First of all, please do not delete this video. I have watched many and you have done a great job with extras like return to gate and go around in NYC after such a long flight. One of the nicest weather days in NYC, it gets no better there.
    I am impressed that the plane even landed OK after so much time on ground and go around in New York.I do not think that Aeroflot made any money after this haul from extra fuel consumption. I guess just tough luck for them )-:
    Your final stop SAN, I hope you had a good time in San Diego. I have lived there for over forty years. By coincidence I use to fly from Allentown called ABE back when I was going to school in Pennsylvania (Allegheny Airlines) long ago. It took over Eight hours and four stops on one snowy flight from there to Dayton,Ohio. Could have just about driven it there at that rate. One thing for sure with Allegheny, no matter where you were going it was via Pittsburgh.
    Thanks for your great post.

My plan is to take the Trans Siberian Railroad from Vladivisotk flying from San Francisco via Seoul then end up in Moscow and take a river cruise to St.Petersberg and fly to Kiev and Odessa , Vilnus, and then to Tel Aviv and home to San Francisco.

    I also love the sound of the engine starting up. I wish I've been on that plane to hear the engine staring, I kind of laughed at the sound, but at the same time liked it because it sounds nice and funny at the same time. I was the 5th person to like this video! I like planes, for two reasons, been on planes so many times I kind of don't get that bored any more and I always look at the wing and the engine. Now the second reason I like planes is because of this channel! I love your plane videos and Sparta remixes! Thanks for being a good channel! man, but this is normal, when this wind comes out of the engine it’s when the engine pallets turn very fast, it only happens when the plane has a very powerful and big engine, and this plane is a 777-300 biggest boing twin-engine, so when that happens it's normal there's nothing editing.

    I really hope you do some more flight reviews, because I just subscribed, and I'm totally blind. I love flying, and I miss it, because I can't work right now. (Medical condition). I'm also using text-to-speech software, so as I'm typing this, I hear what I'm typing and can correct my mistakes as I go along.
    I take it you removed the description? From what I read, some people just are harder to please than others. When I first heard this, I heard those GE90s starting up, and I knew this wasn't a SU Superjet. I don't know why or what happened, but I do know this was a very interesting flight. I'm also so glad that you pay attention to the audio quality, because that's what I'm after.
    Anyway, thanks for uploading this one. I'm looking forward to hearing more. Thank you.

I certainly don't like giving negative feedback, but I always try to do that with tact in the hope that someone might stop and think about what I said. It doesn't always work, but I try, because I'd rather here from someone who's educated give me wise feedback. I report and ignore the rest.

    How did you find out that the missed approach was due to the late clearance of the runway by the preceding aircraft? Not mentioned in the Captain's announcement. I was wondering if on short finals the flight crew woke up to the fact that they had yet to be informed that the cabin was secured for landing!

    • @VoraciousAvgeek
      @VoraciousAvgeek  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kevin D as far as I know, at 25:40, the captain said that we went around due to the runway being occupied.

    • @Reqnaw10
      @Reqnaw10 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      FlyingSpartan Thanks. Try as I might I cannot make out any reference to the reason for the go-around. At least not in the announcement in English. My Russian is not up to it!
      If the first cabin announcement to prepare for landing was that late, there could well have been people walking in the aisles (returning to their seats), in the toilets, etc, when the aircraft. landed! I would have thought that a before-landing checklist would feature an item on cabin preparedness.
      Whatever, I enjoyed your video. It got a thumbs up from me. Keep up the good work.

    20:03 - Engines are throttled up, then just 18 seconds later, speed brakes are deployed. That's odd. And then, at 21:40, after retracting & redeploying speedbrakes, engines are again throttled up - with speedbrakes still deployed. Odder still.

    • @VoraciousAvgeek
      @VoraciousAvgeek  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know, there were so many things going on in my head, i was thinking why did he have speed brakes on for so long. I think it was to let the plane in front of us to takeoff.

    • @JONESSTI01
      @JONESSTI01 8 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Hi buddy. as a first officer on a b757 i can answer your question. basically the speed brakes will cause aerodynamic drag and slow you down but if we set the autopilot to autothrottle and approach hold (automatically following ILS down to the runway) the spoilers are usually set up to arm themselves. usually i set the aircraft to land between 140knt / 155knt depending on runway size and headwind. that means if the auto trottle is doing the power the spoilers tend to stay armed & deployed (braking position) as the speed as adjusted by the FMC. then they will retract again once idle power is reached. its hard to explain but thats the best way i can put it to you.

    • @FreddieTiffy
      @FreddieTiffy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You've just sort of described Direct Lift Controls - a feature that isn't fitted to the 757 and certainly not on the 777 either. On the 777, speedbrakes are manually controlled by the pilot in-flight and they don't automatically adjust based on power setting. They are armed prior to landing but this does not change their position on the wing, it's only so they will automatically deploy when the aircraft senses it's on the ground. Also, FMC calculated landing speeds are determined by aircraft weight, they don't take into account airport wind and runway length.
      Regarding the video, my only explanation for it could be that they descended through their cleared level, and they either realised or New York ATC give them a 'polite' reminder' to climb back to their glide slope intercept altitude. In-doing-so they climbed too quickly, gained too much speed and overshot the glide slope. To rectify the situation they may have used flight level change (a type of autopilot mode) with full speedbrake to reduce speed and lose altitude as soon as possible to get back on the glide slope and configure for landing. Once established on the glide slope they may have forgotten to retract the speedbrakes in the heat of the moment (hence my explanation of them not automatically adjusting) and the aircraft added more power to compensate. They probably got the Speedbrake Extended message at that point and retracted the speedbrakes.
      There are a number of other possibilities here but, at the end of the day, you landed safely! :-)

    The landing wasn’t unstable. And due to the altitude pilots initiated Go Around procedure I am sure that they had an instruction from controller to do that. Also Capitan commented what was going on. He said that due to runway’s traffic they had to go around. (You can hear it on 25:55)

    What's wrong with the video? I think it's perfectly fine. Criticism is good sometimes.

    Planes are more dangerous than cars, no matter what they say. How many times do you think about falling down braking into pieces while getting in the car? Also, plane close calls are much more often than car close calls.

      Ilham H very wrong sir..
      Idk how often you to have maintenance schedule for you car..
      but plane have this in every single trip..
      and license to be a pilot is not easy to have...
      dont forget to mention the eye of the ATC..
      and for the last, the statistics...
