Oh the memories. I’ve had 3 of them over the years. 1 10v and 2 20v. The last one I had was an 89 in red but the engine was modified to rs2 spec producing over 400hp. I cry every time time I think that I sold any of them looking at the values they sell for nowadays
The dentist next door to my parents had a gorgeous grey one I think an F Reg back in the day. I remember hearing it shoot up the road with the lovely 5 cylinder burble!
Look up Ken block on the tube he's passed there recently but restored one of these for his daughters first car at 16. Purple they painted iy think they might of put a turbo on there too
I had a 86/C WR in Zermatt Silver with black leather. Bought for 3000 quid, sold for 4800. Wish I'd kept the thing. The ABS switch is to turn the ABS off. When driving in snow, you are better off without ABS as a wedge of snow builds up in front of each locked wheel which help to slow it down.
Scrap the towbar!!! Had 2 of these and they were both analogue dash 'upto 1984 build's which is way way better. Gear knob should be leather not plastic, think the radio cassette might not be it's original blaupunkt. Quoted 200bhp not 197, but you have to keep it on boost to understand it's power range and driveability. Great Great car, if it weren't for the wife insisting 25 years ago that "you have to sell it as we having our 1st child" , I swear my Quattro would still be with me today 'NO HESITATION'... Damn I mis that car!
Hated mine! Well maybe that’s a bit strong but I found it very nose heavy, very bland interior, and not that fast. It did make a good noise and was well built but the car that followed it, a Rover SD1 Vitesse, was a riot by comparison
I had 5 of these between 1987 and 2016. My first was a 1986 car, my second was a 1980 LHD car (one of the first) then a 1985, then another 1986, then finally a late 1990 20v (one of the last). At one stage I had 3 at once. I sold the 20v for a paultry £9k in 2003 after it had been standing outside for two years. (cringe) I sold my 1980 LHD in 2016 for €32k to a German buyer and despite having mph on the clock, it went back to Germany. That 1980 car would now be worth double what I sold it for. Hey ho. I have thought of buying one for my retirement, but finding a decent one for sensible money is very hard. Very few are as they should be. many have wrong lights or wrong something. So I probably won't bother. I had my fun in the period. It had amazing handling.
parts availability was the reason I sold my last one. If Audi couldnt supply the parts that were needed to keep these cars on the road then what's the point. Porsche will sell you ALL the parts you need for any 911 they've ever made. Thats the difference

Brilliant TH-cam, this was my dream car ,and still is , sadly I could never afford one lol .
That 5 cylinder engine gives a wonderful exhaust note.

Really nice review…drove my bosses Quattro back in 1986 still remember everything about the journey that says it all…lovely car.
What a car! I doubt I could afford one but I wouldn't mind the 80 / 4000 model from the same era. I imagine those would be more affordable. :)
Love digital dash boards Chris - had a B reg senator with one that looked fantastic !!
Love retro interiors
Mate of mine stuck one in a tree back in the day. RIP Shane.
Regret not keeping one of these I got in 93 off a girl she bought a jeep pajero and said take it with you.
Would be worth coin now
Awesome car.

Did you have the option to switch off the ABS? possibly in heavy snow?
possible, would make sense
Huge error not pulling off that towbar prior to auction likely cost himself £1500-5k somewhere...
Roof trim is correct same interior as mine
Always wanted one but wanted an Integrale more!
The lancia may not of looked as good.. But what a chasis and 4wd wagon they were too.
Agree
What does “UR” mean? Is it slang for greatgrandaddy?

Cousin had a rover 216 vitesse aswell what a well finished car interior trim and seats. Suede cream with red piping.
Walnut dash
Sure it wasnt an audi coupe gt?

@@chancha1916ksAmong the reasons I bought a classic Porsche was that you can fix anything as easily as a modern (though it may well eat my wallet).
