Dude goes on and on about the minimalist reductive styling but doesn't notice the flush bumpers. Beautiful design, something never seen on production cars because they need those 5mph bumpers. Very cool how they integrated them into the body.
If I’m not mistaken, the new Range Rover and Sport will both offer a new V8 which is borrowed from BMW. So hopefully this time Land Rover’s reputation for reliability will get boost. Maybe. 🤞🤞
The previous V8 option for the L494 was deemed reliable in its last few irritations, but this should be more reliable, Land Rover already took steps with the last of the L494’s to improve reliability by removing certain engine options, being the horribly unreliable turbo 4 cyl PHEV, and replacing it with inline 6 turbo PHEV options which have already proven themselves, the new L460 and L461 are essentially the old L405 and L494 but improved in nearly everywhere, I can’t see why these cars would be as unreliable as the old cars considering the route Land Rover took with the new cars.
My experience with my L494 (with the BMW 8cyl) has been excellent. Shockingly good reliability relative to my expectations. My experience is comparable to any of my German cars.
I agree. Those 23" wheels looked like they are shoehorned into the wheel wells. The pictures he showed of the lower trim levels had better proportioned wheels.
How is it that Range Rover absolutely nailed this design, the tech, and innovation better than literally every other manufacturer? This design is fantastic, but I’m even more amazed at the packaging and the innovative integration of technology and features.
The full size spare wheel is actually for markets like India where there are certain use cases and customers that make it better to have a full size spare wheel
I absolutely love Range Rovers, and this new Sport looks fantastic. I’ve had two of them, and only hate how much maintenance they require. Doug should review the Jaguar loaner the dealership gives you when you have to bring your RR in for service. It happens so much, people will start to think you bought a Jag. 😂
My RRS has been shockingly reliable. In a different universe from the mythology of poor quality. On the same level as my previous German cars. *much* better than my experience with my previous jaguars. Note that my engine is from BMW.
@@mikeystepback8639 and I am as surprised as anyone that i have had zero problems with it over seven years. Not with the electronics and not with the engine.

Range rover has the best reliability on the planet if u buy 2 Range rovers once one doesn't move get into the other and it moves now that's reliability
I'm pretty sure a fully electric Evoque will sell relatively well for RR Also: Am I the only one who finds the flair of the fenders to be a bit too wide for the wheels. It looks like the air suspension has failed or its been dropped. Or is that its natural stance?
Thought so too particularly for the front wheels arch, fender flare looks bigger than usual covering the front wheel at the upper side. Looks dropped, maybe so they can say it's for easier entry.
do you use a laser pointer to direct your camera somehow? I see the camera seeming to center on a laser but i can't figure out how you do that, if in fact that's what you're doing
Not really. I don’t know how old you are but long live the L320 and the L322. Nothing looked Range Rover after that, this looks like an Oversized Evoque and no ass in the back. The best looking Range Rover is the 2012 L322 AUTOBIOGRAPHY/Ultimate edition. There’s too much electronics these days, you have no freedom with the gas pedal and everything is measured. Pre 2013 you didn’t notice any delay or hesitation when it comes to the power because of how heavy it was and it had the Perfect balance if you kept up with brakes and tires. And the icing on the cake is how beautiful the L322 really is inside and outside. Now it looks like just another iPhone. Too sleek IMO
Those wheels totally kill the look. They look like they are stuffed into the sides and barely fit. It almost looks like the air suspension has failed and the car is sitting on the tires
Exactly! Who in their right mind would take that off roading? The closest that will get to fording any water is crossing a flooded road after a heavy rain.
Not like it really matters mate. It has cool off-road tech and that's a good thing. It doesn't matter if people use it or not. It's there if you need it. Just be grateful that this car has these abilities unlike most SUVs

Dude goes on and on about the minimalist reductive styling but doesn't notice the flush bumpers. Beautiful design, something never seen on production cars because they need those 5mph bumpers. Very cool how they integrated them into the body.
The trunk lid will get damaged easily though
Will the SVR be made for the new RR or is it gone ??
It will probs come later
Looks Fantastic in the red. As my dad use to say "keep your eye on it cause your never get your arse in it"!
@@ericdaimler2 the L494 didn’t get a bmw V8 it only had the Jaguar supercharged 5.0 v8 and Ford turbocharged 4.4 v8
@@Offensivebeast ....and I have now learned something from youtube comments. Thank you. You are right!
I don't know if that's exactly a good thing...
Great looking suv but the wheels are ridiculously big, would probably look better with 20"'s on it.
I agree. Those 23" wheels looked like they are shoehorned into the wheel wells. The pictures he showed of the lower trim levels had better proportioned wheels.
@@FlintIronstag23 I find them perfect tbh. All preference. However the side wall is a little big with 285/40. Should have done either 295/35 or 275/40
Wait until you see it normal ride height
U can swap wheels stick snow tires on factory wheels and put em in storage somewhere
I think it's because its lowered for access
How is it that Range Rover absolutely nailed this design, the tech, and innovation better than literally every other manufacturer? This design is fantastic, but I’m even more amazed at the packaging and the innovative integration of technology and features.
Hey 👋, are you on Instagram? If yes you could drop your handle here,I’ve some business talk And thoughts I’ll like to share with you
The full size spare wheel is actually for markets like India where there are certain use cases and customers that make it better to have a full size spare wheel
So their target market is a minimalist with 120k to spend on an SUV? Got it
I absolutely love Range Rovers, and this new Sport looks fantastic. I’ve had two of them, and only hate how much maintenance they require. Doug should review the Jaguar loaner the dealership gives you when you have to bring your RR in for service. It happens so much, people will start to think you bought a Jag. 😂
I’ll take it!
@@justink3184please no
My RRS has been shockingly reliable. In a different universe from the mythology of poor quality. On the same level as my previous German cars. *much* better than my experience with my previous jaguars. Note that my engine is from BMW.
@@ericdaimler2 engines were not a problem with land rover 5.0l supercharged great engine it was the electronics
@@mikeystepback8639 and I am as surprised as anyone that i have had zero problems with it over seven years. Not with the electronics and not with the engine.
Love the channel Doug, but looks damn weird dropped so low in access mode!!
It's in access mode, calm down.....
It looks bagged.
Looking forward to seeing you drive this thing whenever that's possible. Also looking forward to seeing your review of the '23 Telluride at some point too.
Is the 23 revised?
@@AustinMcAndrew Yep. New running lights, a couple new trims, and digital Guage screens.
Off road review is a must homeless Doug must have car looking like it's been through rough times
Even being a pre-production model, still has check engine warning light on.
Lol funniest comment on here
@@philipf2705 thank you 😊
Doug’s signature occasional throaty voice is interesting. He makes it seem like he’s talking about something important. He’s the only in the car review business to do that. 😆
I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve shattered my wine bottles when I put them in the cargo area with my bowling balls. It’s like Range Rover is in my head.
😂😂😂
Arm Rests are the best feature by far. You feel like a boss leaning on them
A Land Rover with 4 wheel steering and adaptive offroad cruise control is nightmare fuel for mechanics.
@@jalopy2472 the new V8 for this Range Rover Sport is made by BMW.
Range rover has the best reliability on the planet if u buy 2 Range rovers once one doesn't move get into the other and it moves now that's reliability
I am considering buying one of these, but i have one curiosity, i live in a cold country, does this car come with remote car starter and heater ?
Not everyone is into that ultra low look. Why does it look like it's on cut coil springs?
Doug is a type of a guy to show up in a press event in cargo shorts and t-short
I'm pretty sure a fully electric Evoque will sell relatively well for RR
Also: Am I the only one who finds the flair of the fenders to be a bit too wide for the wheels. It looks like the air suspension has failed or its been dropped. Or is that its natural stance?
From my experience of my current RRS, this stance is the ‘lower suspension” stance. It ain’t for driving any distance. It is for loading/unloading.
I thought it has air Suspension lol, it Looks like it has ground clearance of average sedan
Thought so too particularly for the front wheels arch, fender flare looks bigger than usual covering the front wheel at the upper side.
Looks dropped, maybe so they can say it's for easier entry.
@@cyjanek7818 you can obviously set the ride height. This is the lowest setting, the coolest one
"like a bowling ball and wine bottles".... Doug really know how to party....
Has anyone ever placed a bowling ball in their vehicle? I haven’t…
do you use a laser pointer to direct your camera somehow? I see the camera seeming to center on a laser but i can't figure out how you do that, if in fact that's what you're doing
isnt the adaptive cruise control the same as the Toyota Crawl Control?
That looks absolutely badass! You instantly know it’s a Range Rover, but looks super, super modern. Love it! 👍
@@y2kazan868 if the company would have followed your path
Land rover would have been bankrupt till now
Those wheels totally kill the look. They look like they are stuffed into the sides and barely fit. It almost looks like the air suspension has failed and the car is sitting on the tires
I never liked Range Rover but I will say that is extremely beautiful to the Eyes. I love how simple it looks.
Nice vehicle. Just wait till it breaks down from electrical issues.
Funny how the Ford Explorer looks massively like that vehicle.
I love how Doug says that it’s “minimalist,” as the camera pans and it’s slammed straight out of Miami. 😂
Minimal ride height!
The replacement price of those 23" tires will be anything but minimalist
I agree. It looks str8 up bagged for sure
Even on a demo Range Rover there's a check engine light....
Cool
“Water fording”? Oh please, 99.9 % of these will never even get muddy.
These new Range Rovers are beautiful in my opinion they are amazing
Imagine paying 33k for a 1997 land cruiser... oh boy the bubble is about to pop
Range rovers are electrical/mechanical nightmares but they sure to package it pretty and stuff it with yummy tech
Not sure where the comment comes from except from mythology of the early LRs.
My own LR has a BMW engine and has proven to be as reliable as any German car that I have had and in some cases reliability has been better (e.g., with an AMG v8-which was horrible)
@@ericdaimler2 i used to work on land rovers, and speaking from experience. starting back when ford owned them. its a hodge podge of parts from different companies that do not work well together. If that has changed in recent years, i take back my statement. i would personally never own one new or used.
@@IsaacKim Fair point from your experience. I have one data point from LR, but a solid one: a 7 y/o RRS that has been at least as reliable as some other cars that I have had with better reputations for quality.
I have heard different stories more consistent with your experience that occur among current LRs such as the new defender and the 1st Gen PHEV on the RRS.
Doug looks extra redish today , he reminds me of me when i used to put the TV on max saturation settings
Thank goodness they kept the arm rests, it seems silly but as a Land Rover owner I would hate to give them up
Yes because they remind you of the service chairs you’ll be sitting while this thing is in the shop frequently being fixed
RR stands for (Routine Repairs)
Oh look! The air suspension is already broken!
I wonder what mechanics have to say about the lack of weather stipping, the rear axle steering and the airride.
Probably love it. They’ll always be in the shop making mechanics $$$
