    Best thing about My Bloody Valentine as a Supernatural fan was watching the trailer, seeing the killer standing silhouetted in the aisle of a convenience store or something, and instantly being like "I know those bowed legs and machete grip, Tom's the killer, no need to watch now."

    What the audience was not able to understand about High tension is that the movie started with Marie already inside an institution just about to be interviewed, what we saw after was her understanding of what happened. She was telling the story from her point of view all along.

      There's 2 scenes shot from the detective's point of view, the second of which shows two vehicles, and she couldn't have driven both. The twist was obviously tacked on, with the rest of the film not made with it in mind, just hand waving the plot holes away with a half baked unreliable narrator trope. Also, the cover shot scene with the electric saw thing would have been a much better scene with her chasing down and killing the murderer. No, I don't care that that would have been obvious, I'm not interested in watching a director stroke his own ego over how clever he thinks he is. It's a shame, 'cause it's a great film with great acting until the stupid twist ruins it. The film isn't watchable the second time through due to the fact that the film just outright lies to the audience several times. Reminds me of Shutter Island. Better twist there, but, doesn't work on a rewatch, because there are moments and entire scenes that don't actually exist/never happened/couldn't have actually happened, that are just there to keep the audience from seeing the twist coming. I hate it.

      What many don’t understand is the crappy twist is to hide he stole the movie almost scene for scene from Dean Koontz’s book intensity.

      No you’re wrong the twist is there to prevent it being a total rip off. Hey let’s take on this twist so we don’t get so much flack. This story gets so much praise and it pisses me off. Even people like you have it all wrong. The director and writer aren’t clever in the least! Ha the whole movie until the twist is shot for shot dean koontzs intensity.

    • @NinjaMatt2201
      @NinjaMatt2201 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@LeolaGlamour The positive reviews pissed me off because they didn't see how bad the twist is. I agree they aren't clever, I meant someone who isn't clever, but thinks they are. Empty ego. (sorry if it is me that misunderstood you, just let me know.) I don't know if he tried to get the license for the book and failed, or if he meant to steal it from the off. I'm not a writer, but I'm a musician, and there are similar stories in music. Seems to me it's not really that hard to make enough changes to make something inspired by, not plagiarized. But like you said, they aren't clever. I'd ask if they ever got sued, but I guess the film didn't do well enough to warrant it. Just let it die on it's own and be forgotten over time, suing them would give it more attention and risk making it successful. Thanks for letting me know, getting the book next paycheck. I'm glad I only rented the movie and didn't buy it, Blockbuster was a thing then.

    Damn, I thought from the quick clips in the beginning, that Identity would be on this list. A terrific movie about a guy who has multiple personalities, all killing each other off inside the man's head. I thought this movie had one of the best twists in horror movies, to see that the entire movie was taking place inside the head of a man with multiple personalities.
    I also enjoyed My Bloody Valentine, and Hide and Seek.
    Another really good movie with a good twist ending is Frailty. It doesn't fit this list, because the killer knows he's killing, but the twist of the ending is really well done and surprising.

    In regard to My Bloody Valentine, it's Tom HANNIGER, not Hannigan. Also, what's ambiguous about the ending of the original My Bloody Valentine? It's pretty clear cut that Axel Palmer is the killer, driven mad by seeing Harry Warden kill his father when he was a child. There's nothing somewhat ambiguous about that, lol.

    I remember watching this like, 30 minute short about a woman who commits suicide via sleeping pills, but then ends up waking up to a zombie apocalypse. She stumbles out of her apartment dazed and confused trying to find her friends. In the end, she walks in and they attack her but then her nerdy friend comes to her rescue. She then looks in the mirror and realizes she's been a zombie since she woke up

    Great list, and you've definitely given me some new films to check out. But I just don't think this list can be complete without Angel Heart or The Others. As with all of these films, you kind of see the ending coming from a ways off... but it's still heart-pounding when you get there.

    I remember the first time I watched high tension, it was terrifying & amazingly scary, but the second time it kinda made no sense she's be able to be in both places at once so the huge gaps & holes had me more mad I liked it so much I told everyone about it!!!
    It was mostly scary tho, half cause it vaguely reminded me of dean Koontz's intensity, one of my all time top 10 fave books... That book terrified me cause I'd genuinely scared of being in a messed up scary killer type situation only to be saved thinking it's over then boom I'm wishing from the last situation I just got out of cause these people are way worse, like Alice in 'after midnight' Richard laymon is like that too. Great books so check em out!

    It has been many many years since I watched the Blair Witch 2, but I always thought it was the witch that was the killer and she somehow altered all the camera footage to set the trio up for the murder. It must have just been my youthful mindset that couldn't keep up.

      No it’s a rip off of a much better work called intensity by dean koontzs (the asshole didn’t even try to change the name), this jerk just changed the ending and you know why it doesn’t make sense and you hate it? Cause that not the original ending. That’s what happens when you rip off someone’s work.
