I think you have it better to be honest. Sure, he's literally a modern-day guitar hero now, but you've influenced so many young guitarists through your platforms. Hell, I've *listened* to Megadeth for years, but I wasn't sold on learning how to play until I started watching you.

Since 95 he was playing on Angra, and, he was also a teacher for a long long time.
Always stamping magazine covers with his lessons and his guitars.

It's interesting because Marty's style is very unorthodox relative to Kiko's, and he looked like a tyrannosaurus rex when playing the parts which he mastered when crafting this song.

Economy of movement is very much the ideal. He's very well rooted in musical theory and classical guitar. It's extremely challenging, even for guitar greats. But Kiko's attitude and discipline..well, he's in a league of his own.

Kind of deep but- if Dave Mustaine somehow stayed with Metallica he could’ve died while touring for Master of Puppets. Of course there are other factors, for instance, would there even be a Master of Puppets or would they have even toured on that day? Anyway it’s just fun to think about a Metallica lineup with Cliff and Dave
A lifetime of listening to both bands, Megadeth is still my favorite, darker, faster, dare I say heavier? Metallica has it's moments, I still play and own all their albums but some are owned clearly for the collector in me. Anyway, Metallica has come through town a couple times in recent years and I've found better ways to spend my money than to listen to the guys fumble through their classics with a detuned bass heavy production sound and at slower tempos. Megadeth Won the battle in my mind.

Best Megadeth guitarist since Marty, never an easy feat to follow a bunch of crazy good technicians - saw him on a flight from London to Helsinki with his guitar case somewhere around October, didn't say anything - you gotta let the man rest.

He's good but he's so unfit, unmatching to Megadeth as humanly possible - to me. Yeah, fussion jazz - he probably rocks in that genre as f_ck but he's not technical enough when it comes to play the old, good stuff. I'm a classical piano player and they taught us one thing: you play something, do it correctly, note for note, period.
@Axl Perhaps my classical music education comes here but they taught us one thing: play note for note when you play someone's pieces especially if you're playing really good, almost cult stuff. I was playing Bach, Kiko should play Marty Friedman's pieces and he's not doing that correctly. Chris Broderick was the best, the most technical player, but Kiko simply isn't and I don't like it. As I said somewhere else, he's a great showman, which is good and Dave obviously tolerates this but showmanship doesn't make you technically good.
The efficiency of his left hand blows my mind. Fingers are barely moving but magic is happening. Its a beautiful thing.

Jolly Templar Oh he does make it look easy but let me tell you it is anything but ! It took me all of a year every night locked away in my bedroom after school to finally be able to nail it, and that was just Marty's minute long solo !
It's easy with practice
Just decipher it piece by piece. It's honestly not that hard as people make it out to be. They just all want to go fast and then they don't get the picking, rhythm, and notes right. Just go slow and work your way up. Same goes for the solo. Go piece by piece. Look at live videos (like this one) of ACTUAL band members playing the songs. Look at their finger placements. Listen to the notes if you can't tell what he's playing. Sing/Hum the song/melody and you'll get it eventually.

I remember when I heard Dave say that the best Megadeth guitarist was Kiko, then Marty. Seemed crazy at the time, and like he was just giving his "current" bandmate some props...but now, it really doesn't seem weird at all. Both are absolutely fantastic.

@@brucebanner52 what? Dystopia has the best material Megadeth has released since Youthanasia, thanks in no small part to Kiko himself. Just because Megadeth isn't as popular as it was in the 90s doesn't mean the band isn't writing good songs, just means that a 40-year old band doesn't draw as much as newer ones do. Kiko is a genius, just listen to his albums with Angra (Temple of Shadows is a good place to start).

You can see Kiko is one of the best guitarists ever when everyone else, including Marty, makes a lot of movements to play that solo and Kiko just easily and slowly move his hands making it looks 10x easier than it really is.

Technically, Chris Poland wrote the solo, and then Dave had Marty watch the VHS tape, learn the solo, and then Marty played it, but with flare and panache.
Kiko is my favourite guitar player since 2004 when I discovered Angra, and Megadeth is one of my favourite bands since more or less the same year, but somehow I still find it weird that Kiko is in Megadeth after 5 or 6 years. It's like the Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover.

Henrix98 yup but that's the hardest part, gotta alternate between 16-17, which is harder on the hand than 15-17, since the pinky is stretched for a longer time. At least in my hand, going back to 15 feels like a relaxing break compared to going back to 16 (since my index is always on the 10) until the 18.

Megadeath is the best around. To me Dave Mustaine is as good as Malmsteen and even better he's up there one of the best songwriters and guitar players ever that's what I think
Malmsteen is good technically, but tbh he has no songwriting capabilities and no particular song that's memorable or stands out. He just shreds everything, and he's very good at it, but Dave has wayyyy better songs
@@NooDLES411911 if you think stuff like icarus dream suite or little savage, or the whole trilogy album is not good songwriting idk what to say to you man. His later stuff sure is repetitive but the early stuff is as good as it gets

I gotta say Kiko has a nice emotional feel to his playing which is a little different from the robotic precision of Brockerick...

What's the funny part? Yes, he is practicing. Are you confused about something? Do you know what practice means? The title doesn't say "learning", it says PRACTICING.
When Michael Jordan shoots hoops outside of a game setting it was called practice. When Barry Bonds hits balls over the fence outside of a game, it's called practice. A master will always practice his trade.
It's good to practice your stage personality as well as your technique ;)

QuiXilver okay, it's megadeth they practice to be at the exact same time with guitar, they are looking for perfection, and in the solo he is pretty close (closer than most humans would) but still not perfectly together on few notes and megadeth are looking for that kind of perfection.
