The Guard danced major of that show. I feel that was missed opportunity to do some really cool visuals with them. Then had swing flags for the other half. The GE and overall Visual was amazing, especially with that many kids on the field.
I heard from a quick vid that their show was about continuously chasing higher standards of performance, that they’d be chasing perfection and improvement infinitely. Hence “chasing infinity” The dance company’s dance skills are really good imo, they move well both as individuals and as a uniform ensemble. I think because they’re technically a “dance company” and not a “color guard” they use less equipment They were 2nd at UIL state, and 5th at BOA San Antonio.
Ohh! Hmm..Interesting. Now I feel like I need to rewatch bc thats definitely a deeper perspective. And ah! Dance company -- curious about how that impacted scores. Thank you for the overall scoring clarification as well! :)
I sat and thought about this show. It came to me that the skill level for spinning must to either be on different levels, or (hate to say) not that strong.
⭐ One of your elite viewers here!!!! I may not comment as much as I used to, but I very much still watch a lot of your videos and still look forward to them when I get the notifications! 😁 So, couple things, it is Vandegrift (I noticed NFHS Network had it as Vandergrift), and they don't have a traditional colorguard. They have the Vision Dance Company which I believe is their dance team. They typically only dance and do swing flags for the ballads & closers of most of their shows. As far as scoring goes, it hasn't affected them as long as they don't go to a competition with a guard judge. ALSO, I always interpreted the show, Chasing Infinity, as if they are trying to strive for excellence but on a bigger scale. Vandegrift is a national powerhouse (in my opinion) so with their show this year, they are just trying to maintain that tradition of them being at the level they are year after year. Part of me also wanted to think that they wanted to be on a level surpassing "national powerhouse". Because Chasing Infinity also means endless pursuit. Who knows lol
I guess I didn't notice the heavy dance and minimal equipment used in past year's shows so it caught me by surprise! And chasing endlessly huh...sounds exhausting lol nevertheless, this concept helps me appreciate their show more :)
⭐️!!!
Excellent show. Vandegrift had one of the top five shows in Texas and the top eight in the US.
