I bought a whole coffee/ tea set in Teal/ white in a charity shop with jugs, coffee and tea cups, plates and bowls. It was in fantastic condition and I just liked the simple but stylish design . I didn't know the brand, just liked the design. After that I became a fan of Poole Pottery, and I managed to save a rare 1930s Poole candlestick from the bin and sell it online.

There’s nothing more satisfying than saving something a finding someone to keep loving it. I shudder when I think of all the beautiful items that are sitting somewhere in landfill!

Andrea this series of different makes is really great… Like you I really love Poole pottery, and other MCM British pottery and design..think it is definitely under valued and also people really don’t know much about it… The younger generation would really appreciate the lines and colours and simplicity of the items you showed… they are simply stunning 👍👌… Your prices are too reasonable… but understand the need to move them on (sadly)….missed the midwinter one.. must look it up!!…are you going to do J&G Meakin in the series.. some good design there too…In fact British pottery of all kinds are groundbreaking and fabulous ❤️❤️ thank you for highlighting Poole Pottey 👏👏👏 Sue (Bham)… big fan of your videos.. as you know !!

Thanks so much Sue. I knew you’d appreciate the Poole Pottery designs ☺️ I’m not sure what I’ll do next. I try to base it on what I have in stock, but I could just delve in to the history of a maker with some screenshots instead? That might work.

Hi Andrea, love the videos. I used to work for Poole Pottery back in the late 1970s painting Delphis (I wish I had kept more of that when I had the chance!) and the stoneware you showed at the end. Re the blue coffee pot with the pink lid …. I think the style of the lid might date it back to the 1930s. The lid was updated to the round one (the one in the photo you showed) in the 1950s. Don’t know if this makes any difference to the value but it might be worth looking at further.

@@moonkooks2385 That is really something. Was it a pleasant place to work? I always imagine that working for Clarice Cliff in the 1930s must have been sheer hell.

@@rosemarymee I loved it , and it was a great place to work. Good pay and good conditions and a good camaraderie amoungst the women (it was all women in the painting section!) But that was back in the seventies , things are totally different now, I’m pretty sure what it was like back then doesn’t exist now. Interesting what you say about Clarence Clift back then in the 1930s ….. I wonder what is was like because workers rights would not have been so developed and since the 1980s has been eroded……. It’s all stress and targets now.

Oh wow that’s amazing 😃 You must have some incredible memories and stories to tell. I found a sold listing of the same coffee pot on Etsy dated 1950s. It did make a difference to the price. Thank you for your advice on that. I looked in to it further because of that. Otherwise I may have listed for only £10 ☺️

I do love the sleek two tone designs that Poole did. I used to visit the pottery regularly as a kid because my mum loved collecting bits of pottery, especially the dolphins. BTW you pronounced Choisya correctly assuming it was named after the plant with the same name. Thanks for the interesting video

You must have great memories 😊 It’s good to know that I pronounced it correctly. Thank you.

Loved the video, I didn’t know anything about this maker. I don’t even think I ever saw these pieces, or maybe I was just blind to them. I particularly liked the blue coffee pot and the olive green one ☺️
