    I’ve imagined the US blimp crew throwing everything at the German submarine, chairs, radio, kitchen sink 😂
    All jokes aside, great video and good work

      Yes, seriously took some guts to take a blimp and do a low pass over an Uboat with an automatic 20mm. At that point you might aswell throw even the breakfast cups at the submarine if you happened to have them at hand...
      Thanks a lot, glad you liked it :).

    Very interesting. Perhaps you could do a video on the Spanish Civil War?

      It's a topic I'm very cautious about. Believe it or not in Spain things that happened 75 years ago are still very present due to the current political climate. Talking about the SCW inherently involves talking about the politics of the time, as most of what happened (even most of the military side of things) was driven by politics, and I'm really, really, cautious about entering that turf.
      that said, it obviously is a very interesting topic, one that I know quite a bit about, being spanish.
      Bottom point is... It's not out of the question but... I'm hesitant.

      @@ramjb That was my impression as well, that this topic still raises emotions. Just reading the comment section below videos is a good indication.
      It is a very fascinating chapter of history though and I'm sure you have a lot of interesting things to say about it.
      I'm currently watching an old BBC documentary series on SCW and I'm playing a board wargame "Crusade and Revolution". I have to say, it is a vastly more interesting subject than I assumed.

      @@hankczinaski915 You can't be more right it raises emotions... llike you can't even imagine... those comments you're reading in videos about the SCW?. Nothing compared with how ugly it can get in a real conversation about the topic if any of the parts has any emotional attachment to the topic (and a large % of people in Spain sadly still do).
      My position on the whole matter can be summed up as: There wasn't a "good" and a "bad" side. They usually aren't in any wars, but in the SCW instance, both sides were truly awful, and when you're trying to argue which side was *less* awful in a conflict that means that both sides were full of shit.
      it's a pity because it's a truly interesting conflict to analyze from the military standpoint. Spain, after all, was the testing ground for many things (equipment, doctrine, strategy, logistics, you name it) that were used mass scale later on during WW2 and had a huge influence as a result. But, again, I'm hesitant to touch that conflict with a 10 foot pole... not saying I won't, just that I don't want to step on a hornets' nest (particularily so because YT has proven to be so touchy about certain topics in the "cancellation era")...

      @@ramjb Indeed. The more I read about it the more I feel like there was no "good" and "bad" side. Superficially one might think like that, and when I first approached the subject that was my initial impression. But I changed my mind.

    Hello there, thanks for your work. Are you using any periscope view mod for uboat?

    • @ramjb
      @ramjb  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The footage I used here is from one of my U-31 career videos. that was 2022.1 (the current stable version of the game) with a number of mods. The only one scope-related is HardScope.

    But why are they called U boats with they aren’t shaped anything like a U 😂

    • @ramjb
      @ramjb  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In german submarines are called unterseeboote. Literal translation would be "Undersea boats". Being a handful of a denomination (at least to non german speakers) it eventually was shortened into U-boat
