Agree. It's easier to make a logo out of an angry animal, so that's why I also enjoy the Minnesota logo. How do you make something great out of such a "general" word as "Wild"? All the subtle details in it, that makes it the smartest logo in major sports.

I have been working on (for fun) creating my own made up league, trying to come up with creative and unique logos. I like seeing “Oilerman” come bag with the Edmonton redesign. He was a shoulder patch in the mid ‘00’s during the Edmonton Owners Group years. He was also a pseudo-mascot, used in jumbotron animation, interactive jumbotron games (follow the ball under the cup type things). So great to see that. I really like the Knights, I do see the train in a different aspect, for sure, but as a knight, it’s really well done. The Bruins, also really well done!

It's the same style as NJ devil's but the Cardiff Junior Devils combined D for devil's and J for junior so I'd expect if people could make a similar logo. Some of the logos in that list though I absolutely loved so great job!
I think the Redwings should've been number 1, the change in perspective just adds a whole new dimension in the logo and it would be great to be seen in a jersey
The Hurricanes one is pure genius. The left side of the triangle forms a "C", for Carolina, and the two flags coming from the stick form a "H", for Hurricanes.
Minnesota is magnificent, just like the current one. I also loved St Louis and Anaheim. They’re all fantastic but I think my least favorite is the Blue Jackets.
About your shark comments: the top of sharks are dark because they blend in when you're looking down, and light on the bottom so when you're looking up at them they're also camouflaged. Basically the colors are opposite of correct.
Every one of these is awesome. I'd actually love to see merch with these logos. My top 5 are Sabres, Hawks, Leafs, Islanders, and Habs. Every original six logo is actually a really cool modern take.
The two dashes on the Pittsburgh Penguins logo from the 90s were to represent the two Stanley cups won at that time. I like that logo, but if you want it to be like the old one, it should only have five next to it. “Only“...that’s not really the word for it I guess, I feel lucky to have seen that many! Ha ha

I'm a relatively new fan to the NHL- hockey fans are pretty damn rare in Australia. I've been watching for about a year and a half, and I remember one of the first things that stuck out to me was "wow, the logos are 'really' bad", especially the ones like the Habs, Sabres and Rangers. The more I've come to love hockey, the more I respect the history and the stories behind them though. Either way, seeing these redesigns was interesting. I loved most of them, the ones that stuck out that I wasn't a huge fan of were the Jets (the 80's style font doesn't do it for me), the Hurricanes and the Flyers. I feel like more could be done with the Flames and the Red Wings in the redesigns. The standouts for me personally were the Habs, Maple Leaves, Capitals (looks so much better than the current), Blues and the Sabres.
Hey Neil, big fan, been a subscriber for years. Just a thought, sharks actually have lighter belly's than their backs because it would be harder to be seen when back dropped against either the surface of the water (lighter) or the bottom of their environment (darker). We see the same paint schemes in airplanes, specifically I'm thinking of WWII where naval planes had white undersides and blue or darker colored topsides. Anyhow love your videos, especially the ranking videos, keep them coming.
As a newer viewer to your channel let me just say i love it. Ok , being a Detroiter it's hard to accept change but i like this version of a new look. As a Maple Leafs and Flyers fan i haven't seen anything that would fit better as a shoulder patch. He is very creative and i just think that maybe half would be nice as a shoulder patch. Darkest part of the shark is always the top. Because if you’re above a shark in the water the top camouflages with darkness of the deep ocean. Bottom is lightest because if you’re below a shark and looking at surface it blends in with the light coming down. Look at a great white shark or an orca whale.

I have some sent off to Cool Hockey right now, but there are complications in shipping due to Covid-19 so they may be returned to me unfinished, unfortunately. Not sure specifically on the differences in Reebok jerseys. I entered the jersey game kind of late in Reebok's relationship with the NHL.
Your guy definitely has a good eye for design. Some hit or miss more than others. But just a little lesson in shark morphology. Sharks are actually dark on top and light on the bottom. This is for camouflage. Prey above don't see the dark shark below. Prey or predator below don't see the shark near the surface, blending better in the sunlight above.
My problem with a lot of these logo redesign things is that they always look a bit cartoony and lower league-ish. You never see a classic, serious Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers or Montreal Canadiens style logo. They've always got this goofy, children's book vibe to them which I instantly don't like.

The Colorado Avalanche logo is very clever, incorporating the abbreviation ‘Avs’ in the shape of the woodland, extremely articulate approach.
Personally, I like Eric's logos for the Sabres, Red Wings, and Islanders logos more than any the actual NHL teams have ever used.
Really like the Capitals one! They are all amazing, but I don't really imagine those logos on a hockey jersey haha but some yes

Calgary Flames logo reminds me a little of the Calgary Stampeders.
All very creative. Reminds me too much of all the crazy logos and jerseys that came out, in the 90s. That was a bad time for NHL uniforms.
