- Hunter Steinitz was never supposed to make it to her first birthday after being born with a thick skin plaque all over her body that restricted her movement and breathing. Today, she is 19-years-old and thriving.

Alot of these comments are saying that she is beautiful, but I wanna home in on how smart she is. Her vocabulary is pretty advanced for a 19 year old, it really impresses me. I hope she has a scholarship, if she is going to college. Of course this is just a first impression, but going off on how well she handled this interview I bet she is a pretty smart gal.

I really admire her because if I was living with this syndrome (I'm not gonna lie), I would pretty much be down and probably be depressed and thinking of committing suicide all my life for the rest of my life but she handles it so well and she proves to be so inspirational, super confident and really intelligent! she's so inspirational!!!
thaa champ I don't think you would, actually. The thing is with these sorts of things, it's literally the only thing they've ever known. They don't know it is to live without it, and that's probably a good thing because then they probably would get depressed. Same reason why it's much much better to just be born blind then to have vision for your whole life then suddenly lose it.

I think the doctor was so rude. It may of been unintentional but to me she sounded incredible blunt and the fact she said disease even though she had been listening to how Hunter preferred the term disorder. I don't know if it's just me but it bothered me slightly.

It should be a real crime for someone to be denied medicine so its that expensive. If it helps someone look or feel better its a shame to be able to say that they cannot have it! That makes me sick!
It makes me sick and disgusted as well.. this world is so money hungry to the point that if you don't have the money you can suffer or, even worse, die.. the amount of people out there who can't afford treatment for psychological and physical problems is astounding and it's extremely sad that something so stupid as money has to ruin so many lives.

I was a NICU respiratory therapist at the hospital Hunter was born in. I am so thrilled to see Hunter not just thriving, but living a wonderful life. You are an amazing woman Hunter !

She is one of the best people I have ever seen. Most girls worry about how pretty they are, while she doesn't care about what she looks like, and she cares more about her condition she is in. She is really smart and amazing for an almost 20 year old, and if I met her in real life, I would want to be her best friend. If she is bullied, than that's not even right, because she struggles to keep her condition under control. In conclusion, you are a beautiful girl who has so many opportunities ahead of you, and you shouldn't listen to bullies, because they are jealous of how amazing and bright you are. 🤗
Man she was bullied as a kid. I was friends with her growing up. We werent best friends but we were pretty good friends. We played softball together too. We eventually lost contact because I moved and she went to high school while I was still in middle school and eventually college abroad. She was a really sweet girl

I live in a small town in Mexico and there is a little girl here about 2 years old her mom is a street vender, and it is very sad to see that a lot of ignorant people discriminate her, I would really want to find out what I can do to help trying to get her some of the cream she needs to moisture her skin...

she's so well spoken and beautiful, I feel sorry for her that she has to deal with this abuse from 'human monsters.' I have eczema that flares up very badly not like this but people look at me funny, they won't hold my hand. they look disgusted and wince when they look at it.. they're not dealing with the pain of it, or having to put a dozen creams on everyday and not scratch it till it bleeds and flakes. I can barely cope with blisters on my hands and face from eczema so her having this condition what a brave girl.
