For me and my wife, the core game mechanics are still fun, but we are just bored with same places to explore. Regardless of season length its become more of a checklist to do everything than playing a game.
That actually seems like a double-edge sword, for new players it is guiding them, for repeated players it really felt like a lot of checklist, though they try to improve this by making simplified mode 😛
The developers obviously listen and are ready to change the game day to day. Especially when there is either "server maintenance." Or they change the "Phase." So the buildings are no longer destroyed, because people said they didn't like it. And so, very soon no more are the buildings getting destroyed! People didn't like the way the "Wish Machine" worked so they are changing that on 12/19/24 just four more days. Pretty cool and there is all the other completely different "scenarios" both PVP and PVE. They have changed quite a bit since I also started the game on July 9. It just keeps getting better because the devs listen and actually act on what they hear, IMO. - Around 4:50 you say why can't the "Water Pump" pump oil. Well the reason is literally in the name of the thing....
I absolutely love the lore of Once Human, but you are exactly right when you say that the lore is not being cared for and projected properly. I have found so many inconsistencies in the dates and times of major events in the story. It's very clear to me that they need to hire a lore keeper and give that person free reign to build upon the lore. The characters are wonderful, but you are right again, nobody can tell you who they are or their relationships to each other. I think it just boils down to low attention spans and lack of effort on the player's part to actually read. Great video! I'm gonna share this.
TLDR: I personally prefer good gameplay/ mechanics over lore. Honestly, I just started playing the game and it seems pretty fun. However we don't stay on games for a super long time. Maybe a month/ few months but we mainly play FPS games. Personally I don't much attention to the background/ lore of people etc. I just want fun gameplay, looting, pve and pvp, building stuff, fishing and hunting, survival stuff etc mostly. The story is OK and is somewhat necessary but I won't remember or really care that one random character I ran into that's the brother of the girl that lost a crystal 5 years ago and we're going to take it back so she can trade it to reclaim the ear ring of sparkles. I just want to be like, Oh ok she lost an ear ring, where do I go to grab it, is there loot I can get? bring it back, get reward. I'll read the text etc and sometimes the story is OK but it's more so just to see what they're talking about and get an idea of how that world works but I really won't remember it. I reckon it's just because I've played so many games with stories that I'm just burnt out on trying to figure out who's who and just want to get down to brass tax lol. It's also kind of like reading the book or watching the movies, I'd rather watch the movie of a book instead of reading the book. You can do both, I just prefer to watch the movie. I know a lot of people focus on the lore and that's totally fine, I just want really good and fun gameplay/ mechanics over lore. I hope this game doesn't reset etc, I'd like to see more stuff with hunting/ fishing/ crafting too. I feel like the people that focus on lore, they play that game almost exclusively or that's their semi regular game they play.
💯, The story doesn't have to be incorporated into the game, like you said, can be a movie or short film. The game mechanics still have a lot of polishing work required, I hope they give enough time and priority for themselves to fix them.
I'm going back to Manibus server for now. I will only come back to winter scenario once the developer makes it more enjoyable. My teammates already left the game and there's no chance for them to return again. I'm still playing because this game has the potential to do more and I'm waiting for that. Anyway, thanks for the video and sharing your thoughts....
About lengthening season time, I just don't know if that's a good idea. I also get bored of rebuilding a new base everytime, but I also just get bored of my base! I wish I had more time in the season to change things when *I want to*, not because the season wipe forces me to. The problem really is a lack of "distraction content". They would need to add so many side quests and achievements (that actually reward you) to keep people busy. Content like that comes from the urge to explore and find hidden things. But, right now, all the hidden things are just big empty spaces... like the castle fortress in the WoW mountains. That was really awesome, and I could have gotten lost up there for days, but it's just empty. Sad.
Agree to it very much, as I'm at phase 4 or 5, the only things left for me to do is just hunting silo, CW and mods, and also some public events. Maybe some of us just play too fast, there are also those who felt stress & rush playing this game too when they have other commitments like family, job, etc. I feel lengthening the season time, maybe also with "Alert, you play for more than 3hrs, have some rest" to substitute the boredom, they can have more time to develop more content like that 🤣
@TheNextReboot oh yes, that's also true. It's definitely our fault for burning through the content that is there. It is likely a symptom of feeling like we have limited time. Good points!
Now I'm eager to get to Wow and explore the castle. Having only been in Manibus map I'm already impressed with some of the map. I've climbed many peaks, rode my motorcycle along mountain ridges like it's a trails game, and became entranced at some of the amazing architecture designs. But eventually the routine just becomes teleporting to events, teleport back home, teleport to silos, teleport to home, maybe work on my home building... until I hit the structure limit and abandon the rest of the plans... but never having the motivation to explore again, because the world is just empty. How I wished there is some racing mini-game while I was running the trails, or chance upon a hidden side quest or monster while I was climbing the peaks. The foundation is there, they are just missing that little touch.
@@Ash-vv8zg They did have a quasi-racing event once on Manibus. It was really just a kilometer tracker. Still, it was somewhat engaging. Like you said, a good foundation.
The whole CW and temperature mechanic (and how brutal that could be, I mean teleporting into a place and insta-dying from heatstroke or hypothermia) really were things that just kind of made people quit, and never want to return. Even if they have fixed things. It was a game that myself and a group of other people from the game/virtual world Second Life would play together, and how Hive was based on that--only like 3 people including myself play now, which makes instances where you need a 4-person team awkward. I think maybe the dev/studio now feels pigeon-holed into the whole philosophy they had at the beginning, maybe there's no way out or something. But the consensus amongst the community, my Hive, is for them to just make the seasons longer so they can polish things before release--would make the game less stressful to play, and I only imagine it would make things less stressful for the devs. I also feel maybe 12 weeks instead. Other than that, I still find the game fun, and push through things--I did one season of Manibus, WoW, and going back to Manibus...there's still a lot for me to learn.
Yes, Once Human is definitely a good game, no doubt, it is just all these accumulation of minor bugs and bad designs that frustrated the players to quitting the game. I also died in my base while waiting for login loading page, which they could have added immunity to temperature after every loading page when players haven't start to move yet. I feel they just really need sufficient time to fix and polish all these things before they push more newer content.
@@kitzuni0 - If we're honest, it's held together by duct tape and hopes. But it's still around, lots of people still creating content within in it, still a photography and blogger/pseudo-influencer community. They're constantly trying to add or do new things; the latest was the introduction of physics based rendering (PBR) and HDR for lighting. But the main and third-party viewers can actually use more than 4GB VRAM too. Let me tell you, the people with dino-PCs are complaining. Right now in an open beta state, there's a mobile app too for Android and iOS.
idk but me and my friends actually like the slow progress with each phases as we dont really have much time to play. Wish they can merge wow and manibus and make the server last longer.
I have to agree110% I am actually watching this right after I "bought" 4 s-class bears from my space time back pack to breed in the new server. I took them out ,and the items are bound for 6 days to your inventory , and .....you suffer the encumbrance penalty! Meaning I am stuck at 179 pounds for 6 days.... till the bears release. I can barley move so there will be no grinding , no character advance ,and the lost of 1/6th of the total server time to complete objectives. Not to mention I had to pay... for the items "you will never lose" to get them from my spacetime back pack...This is why people are quitting. Games are buggy when newly released I get that but, this game was rushed ,and the farming/animal addition to the game was a great idea but, as you said not thought through very well. It is hard to play a game where when they add content they do not even consider their own mechanics to make sure the content launches smoothly.
There is not enough content to increase the scenario length, Phase one in the Manibus scenario me and a friend played for a few hours the first day and was waiting for 5 days for phase 2 so making people wait for 2 weeks for content everyone would quit, there would need to be at least 3 times more content in the game to raise the length of the scenario's to double
They need to open all maps on the server. Eliminate time gates....some player progress quickly and should be allowed to go on instead of sitting for days waiting for the next phase
Yea, actually on another perspective, the gates might be unnecessary aside from keeping everyone in the same progression. But this might also make the game unbalanced between those who have time, and those who don't have much time to play.
Idk, but i feel this game is the "answer" from the devs about certain issues another zombie survival game, also released by Netease, Lifeafter had. Like almost literally everything bad from that game is "solved" here. Which results to a brand-new issue as well... I'm surprised not many people mention it in yt so far Also unrelated, for newer players, is double reloading still a thing in this game? I know it used to be the case in early days, especially with high ping.
woah, I didn't knew about this, in this perspective I guess they really improved a lot. But even as a first-timer like me, I really do think the game is good, the 3rd person shooting, movements, skill tree, mining, farming and many more, it is definitely a lot of good work in there, though just the smaller portion of "but" which is often louder in social media.
im in primsverse scenario i dont know how 100 PRISM DEVIATIONS all gone in less than a half minute, its happening everyday... i cant even got 1 and the server only have One World
This Winter map is not bad BUT the weather cold and hot system is the worst I had to deal with in a game in years. They clearly doesn't know how to balance that. My character where feeling hot or cold at 20 degrees Celius and that's just stupid. I played the winter map once and 100% never will again.
Way of Winter, as noted by many, was just not fun with the dying with no real warning. After rebuilding my base twice from the Chaosweaver destroying it with no warning when I was not able to play, and losing all the materials, just sucked. Give a timer and a chance for my team to "call in" the CW. For now, we've all gone back to Manibus (third time here) and we'll see how much longer the attraction of OH lasts.
I believe they will continue to improve things given time. IMO it is the season duration that make everything seems stress and rush for both devs and players
I have not played the game, due it has issues on Linux. Its prolly the only game, that I know that has a problem on Linux as well on my steam list of over 600 games. So il be back in the game, if the manage to fix it
@@glenni83 bro, i think they are more busy with the mobile platform rather than porting the game to linux, you have better chance of getting the game on your mobile phone and windows
New player here in 4th phase of season. Story is really told bad. And I feel very demotivated building and rebuild my stuff and farming everything anew. This is why I will Not come back
I don't think I'll keep playing. I battle passed for this to see what a season is. It wasn't bad. I had fun and bought some whatever money to support the devs. The thought that I have to do it again. And Again and Again. and pay for skins. Why? I'm gonna be honest it's way better than The Last Descendant. It is.
im a pvp player 2 evo 3 clash and half of wow but almost all pvp in na have quit. prism clash is broke so the prisms run out in 9 minutes so no one wants that and quit. iv done a rough count of most pvp players in na and there is roughly 450 maybe. its sad cause i had 60 just in our group 2nd evos call
I feel they shouldn't isolate any weapons, like example CW cannot be hurt by elemental or status damages, why? Probably they do not have enough time to add in the features, else it should be like Fire CW get more damages from Frost Vortex
i lost interest after the reset just cant do it i got other games i want to play not just this one. The game is great but the only thing that killed it for me was the reset othe then that i would play it more.
Agree, the reset was a major point where a lot of people quit, not many people can accept their progress being lost, though the idea of the reset is for fairness, I think they could had made the season length longer, some games has 1 year reset time, haha
Doesn't have to emphasize on the story, watching lot of twitch streamer, they just skip all the dialogues and proceed to complete the main and side quest, seem like not many ppl care. Lengthening the season time is good if there is more endgame content. WoW season get bored after phase 2 onward because nothing to do other than killing chaosweaver. The Devs should take more time to think about endgame content for each scenario i.e grinding new currency for free cosmetic, new boss spawn on the map with great reward etc.
I feel they skip because the story isn't congruent or important enough, lack of voice dialogues, and players are not immerse into it. Merging WoW and Manibus would be good, but I think that won't be a small task for the studio, quite a popular idea, let's see if they do it 😁 Ahh, I feel there isn't much nice things to buy with cosmetic tokens when compared with paid loot crates 🤣though the items bought with Mitsuko mark are quite okay
You're not wrong, I'd rather have fun playing the game instead of focusing on the lore etc. I want to build, craft, hunt, fish, loot, have fun, adventure, do the story missions and get the loot. I play too many games honestly to read, study, learn, research, focus on every single games lore I play. I feel like people that focus on lore, they play that game almost exclusively or that's their semi regular game. As someone that hops around games, I don't want to spend that time on learning that stuff when I'm probably going to switch games within a month/ 3, depending on what's going on that is.
@@TTV_Lion_Chaser Yea, I can see that, I also skipped a lot of dialogues to save time and explore more on the game mechanics, though I feel this is another part of the market they can tap on to, doesn't have to be incorporated to the game, but a short movie would do 😁
honestly i just find it boring now, and a long checklist.. my 4th season and nothing changed really, everything being time gated for me is killing my interest to return when its basically a mobile game at this point with "parts" unlocking each week. i just want to play the game, not do like 20 missions and then have to not log in again until the following week when i finally have something i can do again, we warned them in the CBT's that this wouldnt be good for longevity and they never listened and are paying the price for it now.
@ yeah exactly, I hope they realize that but with the mobile launch around the corner… we’ll see if that matters anymore once that cash cow starts coming in
i think its bad advertising.. mary? lol... the lea labs / dark rift was the final fight.. way of winter seems.. like a prequal, and .. if you listen to the radio stations.. they tell you alot of lore... distracted by some descent music .. as far as CHAOS WEAVER... if iot was an endless server.. it would have to exist.. and travel ..
I mean I never even started. I don't like "seasons". Good job live service games. I like permanence. Not this thing. Same reason i'll quit Path of Exile 2.
@TheNextReboot oh really? That would be cool! Like...idk rotating events or something but not one offs and gone...like come on. Thats just destiny or any live service game.
@TheNextReboot that's actually the point mate.. no more spamming specific build.. cause every build counts.. every player needs a team or needs the skills..
bro u saying ending is bad haha , this story is sooo bad that i never completed both of the story and i will never even gonna bother playing the store with all of a dead ass character with no expression just robot with lines to say plus a shit story too ngl.
They dont listen to players... Do something about LAGS and nothing, do something about bugs, bad made map, fix that crap, and nothing... i dropped the game.
for me the frequent lag already gone like 2 months ago.. dev already told player to send a feedback when what where if u having lags so they can investigate.

@@glenni83 bro, i think they are more busy with the mobile platform rather than porting the game to linux, you have better chance of getting the game on your mobile phone and windows
@@TheNextReboot Are you drunk or something? im living and breathing Arch linux. I hate phone like veggies
@@glenni83 well, have fun then 😁
New player here in 4th phase of season. Story is really told bad. And I feel very demotivated building and rebuild my stuff and farming everything anew. This is why I will Not come back
I guess some kind of freshness is required 😁 But sometimes it is also good to take a break from the game too
I don't think I'll keep playing. I battle passed for this to see what a season is.
It wasn't bad. I had fun and bought some whatever money to support the devs.
The thought that I have to do it again.
And Again
and Again. and pay for skins.
I see, personally I have not tried the pvp yet, but is the lag no more there?
Like ads can be killed by certain weapons but those weapons cant dmg the boss like that lol
I feel they shouldn't isolate any weapons, like example CW cannot be hurt by elemental or status damages, why?
Probably they do not have enough time to add in the features, else it should be like Fire CW get more damages from Frost Vortex
@TheNextReboot yea I agree to the idea of elemental affinities and compatibilities..
i lost interest after the reset just cant do it i got other games i want to play not just this one.
Ignis runs because cruel people are always cowards 😊
I realize my comment got eaten away, but yes! That could be one of the reasons 🙈
I think to min max profit they decided to only have 1 team of 2 dev to handle the whole game....
A lot of companies are like this, and they get destroyed fast
Merging WoW and Manibus would be good, but I think that won't be a small task for the studio, quite a popular idea, let's see if they do it 😁
Ahh, I feel there isn't much nice things to buy with cosmetic tokens when compared with paid loot crates 🤣though the items bought with Mitsuko mark are quite okay
I understand that, it's a game we put time to, but won't put in forever, unless some things change 😁
@ yeah exactly, I hope they realize that but with the mobile launch around the corner… we’ll see if that matters anymore once that cash cow starts coming in
quit ater 2 season, tired to play again and again
Awww, hope one day it will bring you back again when they improve things 😁
i think its bad advertising.. mary? lol... the lea labs / dark rift was the final fight.. way of winter seems.. like a prequal, and .. if you listen to the radio stations.. they tell you alot of lore... distracted by some descent music .. as far as CHAOS WEAVER... if iot was an endless server.. it would have to exist.. and travel ..
I think those are quite some work, but incomplete, had they completed it, it would have been memorable 😁
My biggest gripe is the cosmetics being such a huge $$$$$ investment, it just makes me not even look at the store ever.
Yea, I think that's another set of issues, but despite that, there are still people who will buy them 🤣 though probably not for me, yet
I mean I never even started. I don't like "seasons". Good job live service games. I like permanence. Not this thing. Same reason i'll quit Path of Exile 2.
I see, I heard they are gonna have permanent server, so let's see if that can help 😄
@TheNextReboot oh really? That would be cool! Like...idk rotating events or something but not one offs and gone...like come on. Thats just destiny or any live service game.
My whole warban and discord group of 70+ ppl all quit. Games just not getting the real fixes it needs and is just boring now.
😦 that is a lot of people
they're prioritizing the good stuffs which are the lootcrates. they gotta treat people's gambling addiction.
I think it would be cool if all boss will have immune to weapon types.. this way, everyone will be force to create different builds and specialties..
That's actually quite tiring 🙃 I rather explore builds at my own time than bring forced to do so, haha
@TheNextReboot that's actually the point mate.. no more spamming specific build.. cause every build counts.. every player needs a team or needs the skills..
just faster release the mobile crossplay.
Did you managed to try it on mobile during the beta testing? I wonder how's the experience
still hope. to lose 10k players in next month :DDDD
I hope they really improve though, let's see
Game is unrevivable dead. Was great fun tho
Nah, I wouldn't say unrevivable, they just need time to polish things up 😁
bro u saying ending is bad haha , this story is sooo bad that i never completed both of the story and i will never even gonna bother playing the store with all of a dead ass character with no expression just robot with lines to say plus a shit story too ngl.
ahahaa, nah it wasn't just the ending, but I do feel you on the robot side 😆 maybe they are on some tight budget too, afterall it is free to play
They dont listen to players... Do something about LAGS and nothing, do something about bugs, bad made map, fix that crap, and nothing... i dropped the game.
for me the frequent lag already gone like 2 months ago.. dev already told player to send a feedback when what where if u having lags so they can investigate.
I think they do listen, just that they don't have enough bandwidth to attend to everyone, they really need more time
No more lag lol. They will even optimize the Hardware by the end of this year.
i already stop play this game about 2 weeks. w.o.w too harsh, bug everwhere and i hope they find solution getting player back at game again
Understandable, I hope so too, I believe they can if they have the time resources
