I have to do this soon, my Liberty’s just went out and my tank is little over half a tank! Hope it’s as easy as it looks! Thanks for the informational video!
OFF AXIS BUILDS all done! Install went smooth, the fill tube clamp was a bit seized but it came off. Followed your exact technique. Fired up on the 1st crank! Super Easy!! Thanks to you and your video!
Thanks off axis builds, the weird thing is that my Liberty is a 2004 yet it does not have the access port like the 2007. I really appreciate the rly with the good info. I will drop the fuel tank in the next couple of day and I will make a comment if anything is different from what I have been told. Gracias my friend.
Thank you so much I have a 2005 but this video is the best I have found so far , my fuel gauge won't go below 1/4 of a tank and won't pass 3/4 of a tank, so I believe is the fuel pump not sending the right info.
Thank you for showing how it can be done in the driveway. Maybe it's obvious, but I think you forgot to show how and when to reattach the fuel line. Also, how do you know whether you should drain the tank first or not; e.g. full tank = drain, 1/2 tank = maybe, 1/4 tank =don't bother. I've subscribed and will be looking forward to seeing your other videos.
Thanks for that video. Do you happen to know where the fuel filter is located? I have a similar Liberty (without the access panel under the carpet) and I purchased the fuel filter because i will be changing the fuel rail and injectors. Please anyone reading this, let me know of any videos or documents related to my question. Thanks a bunch.
pirocus66 so what I have been told is the 2007 Jeep Liberty fuel filter is located with the fuel pump. I know I saw an external fuel filter being sold but I don’t believe that goes to the 2007 model. It may go to a 2006 or older.I even traced the lone all the way to the engine bay and didn’t see one on mine.
Jesus M yes there are a few things that will tell you if it’s bad 1. Check engine light with a code p0087 This is for low fuel pressure In The fuel rail 2. the car might buck a little on take off 3. The car might back fire
I would've cut that notch with 3 cuts using a cut-off wheel, bent the metal back and made my own hatch. After installing new assembly, bend the metal back in place and use JB weld around the 3 cuts, let cure and then add the sound proof barrier like you did before dropping the tank.
Will Hesselton I actually thought about that to. But I looked at what it would take to drop the tank, and it wasn’t all that bad. If I wasn’t filming I could of gotten it done in 2 hrs. However when I did it on my Jeep Wrangler YJ I did actually cut a hole and I made a cover for the hole.
I actually took the carpet out and scraped the tar off and couldn’t find one. Like I Said in the video some had it and some didn’t on my year. I think the 2008 model definitely had one. But mine was a 2007. Thanks for watching
Steve Blankenship I thought of that however you would then need to make a plate to cover the hole. Not to mention I wasn’t sure how close they mounted the tank to the bottom. I did cut a hole in my Yj but I felt dropping the tank on this wasn’t that bad.
@@OFFAxisBuilds i have jeep tjs now, and yes ohio salted roads has taken a toll on them, wifes 2001 tj now has a frame from south Carolina, under it, the body is real good on the other hand my 2001 tj is getting the frame fixed as we speak, as i didnt want to go thru another body off
Steve Blankenship Yea if I was you I would cut the hole. I have a video on how I did that for my YJ. But be careful if you don’t have a body lift the tank is only 1 1/2 below the bed on a YJ. I would assume that it’s very similar on the TJ. Good luck and thanks for checking out my video.
Rockin' the old school tighty whities 👍
Mine went out today. This weekend's project. Thank you for this detailed video. Best I've seen yet.
Thank you. Good luck with the replacement.
Thanks man you saved my day.... I was getting wtong fuel level because of the orientation of the frame....
Glad I could help
Awesome walk through! Thanks a ton! I'll be doing this this weekend in the cold :*(

Good luck on your replacement. It really looks like a lot of work but it’s pretty strait forward.
Hahaha I did the exact same thing, I took the carpet up and started scraping material only to find no bolts! Then I found your video thanks
Yea some years had it and dome don’t. It would make sense to put a hatch there.
@@OFFAxisBuilds I got so excited when you said they started putting the hatch in in 2006. I got severely disappointed seeing that there was no hatch.
I know I thought the same thing when I did my research. The great news is it wasn’t too hard to drop the tank.

No hatch in mine either but still easy enough to cut it out with a dremmel tool
Thanks for the walkthrough. My son was able to change his fuel pump out in about an hour. Maybe a little longer if you count the cleanup.
Great I’m glad I could help.

In mine it was a fuel pump and sending unit is one part so yes you are correct. This should fix your problem

Honestly you can do this with a full tank but it’s easier to see the bottom of the filter canister if the tank is 1/2 to 1/4 full.
If you had to ask that question, maybe you shouldn’t be doing it.
You happen to run into any issues tightening the ring back up? No matter what I do I can't get the notches to go all the way over properly
Yes I did. It took a few tries.

Hi, as far as I know the only liberty's with fuel filter are 2002/2003
The fuel filter is located in the tank so I’m told. I did user one when I replaced it.
Hi, thanks for the video! It will be a big help! Did you have any problems in the following months/years with that fuel pump?
That pump has been running strong since I installed it. I still have it in my Jeep now.
Your my herooo! DUUUUDEEE YES thank you
I’m glade I could help. Thanks for checking out my video.
Is there anyway that you could tell that it’s bad?

2. the car might buck a little on take off

p0452
p0420 also but do your intake gaskets befor getting into fuel

There is one .Have to uncover it under the rear carpet.Pays to read a book.

WHERE IS THE FUEL FILTER ??? IN THE TANK???
Yes the fuel filter is part of that fuel pump assembly that went into the tank.
couldn't you go ahead and cut hole?? alot easyer then dropping tank
