    The suggestion to pull the oil tube and alternator cable was super helpful! I had the same idea to come in from the front but was really struggling eith the bottom bolt

    It's much easier to loosen the generator. Then you have direct access to
    the thermostat housing.

      Just on question, if i want to see the température of my engine i must press 2 buttons on the same time ? Could send me a tuto for this processus ? Regards

      @@rvmemo no problem. Just hold the recirculation button and the up arrow button on the heater control unit. That will open up the menu. From there use the heater switch dial turn left or right to scroll to code 49. 👍

    • @Witty924
      @Witty924  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      And then press the recirculation button again and the tempreture of the engine will show up. 👍

      Hi Ian, thanks for the comment and support. So it's a good time to change the thermostat housing, and also if the oil dip stick holder is in bad condition change that too. Hope that helps and good luck on doing the job 👍🚙💨

    HI well done, I have an issue to start the engine when it gets hot won't start, it needs to cool down to start, have idea what can be ?

    • @Witty924
      @Witty924  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Steve, thanks for the comment and support. So it might be a dodgy connection with your starter motor. there have been instances with others where the starter could be on its way out and not starting when things get hot. might be worth having a chat on the Audi forums. I don't think this would be a cooling system issue. 🤞

    I have had my TT for 21 years - never had many problems and I always did my own work - but I never knew about the secret menu until today. How is that possible? I have had the Haynes manual for several years but never used it much. I tried the secret menu trick and even though my TT is USA spec the engine temperature showed up as Centigrade. My temperature guage only has tick marks and the temperature guage has not worked well for a couple of years. When I entered menu code 49, the engine temperature stayed the same for awhile and as the temperature rose, the temp guage began to raise also which it had not been doing for some time. The menu temp got up to 82,83 and then dropped suddenly to below 50 degrees as I imagine the thermostat opened. The menu temp raised and lowered a couple of times cycling between 43 and 88 and then one time it got to 95. So, I have some things to look at including my fans that I do not remember running for some years. Where do I find the codes for the secret menu? My plastic pieces have those little plastic push in pieces and I like your metal ones with what looked like inserts. Where do I get those metal pices to easily remove and replace the plastic engins covers.

      Hi There, this link will give you the full list of codes available through the climate control unit. Hope that helps :) audi-tt-enthusiast-site.blogspot.com/2011/02/audi-tt-climate-control-codes.html

    It’s a lot easier changing the thermostat on the 924! Well done, nice video. You always seem to work outside, and not in a garage?

    • @Witty924
      @Witty924  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hear hear Chris, definitely prefer working on the 924 haha. Yeap, most work done on the drive way, that said I have managed to get a garage this winter for the 924 and the work I need to get done, still damn cold though 🥶👍

    How have you checked and removed any possible air bubbles in the system? Isn't that important?

    • @Witty924
      @Witty924  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment Ian and foe watching. So the system is a self bleeding system so it will do this itself. To help, give the hoses a squeeze and this will bring air out via the fill reservoir. Start the engine and repeat the process. It's a nice a easy process on these. Hope that helps 👍🤞

    Mines 100% failed, it gets to 90, then drops to about 75 and almost a full tank has only lasted me just over a weak and my exhaust is very black.

      Hi Kin, it's best to go to TPS if you are in the UK if not then try a audi parts provider, important to get a good themostat and not a cheap one as you want it to last 👍

    No... we didnt see it happen to you. What happened to the removal and instal? Was that a an edit clitch?

    • @Witty924
      @Witty924  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Leon thanks for the comment and support. Good spot on the video, so as I advised on the video, you need to be quick in changing the thermostat to save loosing to much coolant, as soon as you remove the old one, coolant will start leaving the system, so be quick 🤞. Hope your thermostat change goes well 👍
