    Thanks, Mikko, this is very helpful! I can see the over-under pattern developing logically, as I could not with another method I've tried. (I also greatly appreciate your wrapping the leads on two fingers, much closer to ultimate size than when using the entire hand). Having tried to follow along several times, I can see that controlling the leads and their positions with finger pressure is key...hopefully I can develop this with practice!

    I have learned and forgotten how to tie this particular Turk’s Head dozens of times over the years. Thanks, because your video got me over the mental hump of what I was forgetting about how it gets started.

    Thank you Mikko for your videos. Thank you Martin for your music.

    This may be the best video on tying this that I've seen. Most others rush the start; yet without a good base, this cannot be completed.

    Thank you! I have been watching videos about tying this knot and this is the first one that really made sense! Can't wait to try it! I didn't see anywhere that showed how long your rope was though.

      Here is how you determin the length of your rope: th-cam.com/video/hNtAiRti1mY/w-d-xo.html

    I love this instructional video Mikko. Every once in a while (a lot!) if or get the start for the 4L X 5B Turk's Head. I now have it handy on my iPhone as a quick refresher. Many thanks, Vernon in Vancouver
    PS is that a picture of you on the back page of the June issue of "Knotting Matters" looking happy and content??

      They are quite similar in logic, so keep on going!

    Great explanation, thank you! I tried Des Pawson's instructions several times without success, with @KnottingKnots instructions I saw some light, bu the version I saw cannot be tied around something.
    With your version I see there's system to the madness. 😉

    Mikko- another excellent video, thanks again for sharing. As usual, your instructional videos are easy to follow. One question: why would I use this knot over a 5 lead-4 bight? Is the 1 lead reduction that critical when covering smaller/shorter objects? Donald

    • @mikkosnellman
      @mikkosnellman  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is of course a little smaller than 5 lead but for me it is the symmetry in 4 lead that pleases my eye.

      I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m assuming this can be raised in a manner similar to that of a 5L-4B knot?
