@@nitroseven I'm sorry to say this but 8GB of ram would be useless under XP due to 32bit, we would have been stuck with 4GB/3GB of ram if vista never happened. you also forgot that vista was the first push of 64bit on consumers, cause XP 64bit was not all that great at the time, it was mostly use for severs or workstations that needed more memory and a lot of software and drivers didn't play well with it thought the same could be said with vista for a short time but then the industry finely got a clue. it took forever for 64bit to get a foot hold, way too long in my opinion.

I got a gateway laptop last year with a amd turion and Nvidia graphics the irony is that windows xp will not cooperate with sound driver whatsoever but I installed Vista and it worked right away and has been very pleasant to use

I did notice some major differences going say from XP to XP SP2, which added support for WPA wifi networks. But other than that the experience is largely the same between service packs. They are for the most part accumulated security patches. Can you point to some major difference between W7 and W7 Sp 1 if it's much better?
Its so beautifull! I just don't remember those images, because since 98 I am a full time Linux user and I saw Vista as an entertainment, but shurely has his merits.
Perfect video. My parents used Windows Vista until the end of its support on a PC with plenty of Ram and power and never had a problem. I had it on a PC with 4GB of Ram and that was fine too.
I can remember when Vista came out MS was trying to make the PC gaming experience similar to the Xbox experience, with the "Games for Windows" thing. I remember how much I absolutely hated Dx11, but I kinda had fun with Shadowrun, one of the 1st cross-platform games where Xbox360 noobs could play with PC players.
If this Motherboard has USB2, you can use a Creative X-FI USB sound device. It's called an Xmod. Istill have mine. Great sound - just like the PC soundcard. If you want very high quality sound, there are a myriad of professional USB2 sound devices to choose from. I also still have a WD Raptor drive of thus design. It came in a large heatsink from new.
Still have most of the gear that I had during this era but I fucked up and sold the z77 sabertooth and 2550k a few years ago.. Miss that board. If I had upgraded to a 3770k, I would've been okay until just a couple years ago when I upgraded monitor. For the gaming I do anyway. The ram and hd6950 are in my mom's computer lol. Level 10 gt is still in the box :) amen for 200mm side intakes making a comeback!
"Everybody loves Windows Vista" 😬 it had a lot of overhead but the visuals it introduced was quite captivating. It was a pleasure changing to Windows 7 I must say. It ended up being more usable for me. I had the exact same motherboard with a GTX750 and my FX8350 back in the day! :) Actually the system is still in use over at my father in law where it is one of the lower-end gaming rigs for our nephews and niece.

Scaling down resolution and settings even has some of the more modern titles running quite playable still.
Microsoft messed up underselling the system requirements. They simply should have a stated that it was designed for new hardware. When I looked at upgrading, my computer was just under the stated requirements, read some reviews and didn't bite. When I did a new build in 2009, it was on a 2.6 GHz dual core AMD CPU with 3 GB of memory and on a HD4350 ATI graphics card. I really enjoyed Vista and didn't feel the need to upgrade to 7. I moved. That computer fell in storage and broke.😒 And I purchased a laptop that had windows 8. I didn't like 8 and 8.1 was tolerable.
I wish I could get my Windows Vista installation to work on an old computer I have, but for some reason a lot of things other than Minecraft work, and I get a lot of error messages when trying to install it like missing DLL errors or Java errors. :(

I had the same motherbord an CPU back in the days - pretty nostalgic. Man, I really hope I stil have it in the attic to play around with Vista myself again. I had an Noctua cooler, which also wouldn't fit in your case.
I always wanted to have Windows Vista Home Premium to run Trainz Simulator 12 because It kept on crashing on my HP from 2019 and my PowerSpec in March of 2023.
This setup still has enough power to play famous games. New games doesn't mean better. I still play Stalker and its mods Anomaly using more less like this
the red color of the case is stupid oven, the glass on the side of the case is stupid, the fan on the front of the case draws dust and increases the heat through the panel on the front of the case but the large iron case the fan on the side of the case are two cool things
I think it would be better if you used the highest level processor and video card when windows vista came out. But thank you for your work, this system is also very great, I still think.
I'm thinking of getting one that's only 80 bucks. It has really good reviews but most of them state that It has no cables. Should I use a windows 10 anytime upgrade for it or not? I like the operating system, BUT I want to play steam and valve games and they arn't able to run on windows vista.

Agreed. Vista took too long to be released, that's probably why we had so many machines with not enough ram when it was finally launched.
vista did everything and 7 took all the credit. and i agree. if vista never happened 8gb ram would still be the recommended amount for gamers!

That era of hardware reminds me of my first PC build in 2012 - i5 3570K, Radeon HD 7950, Intel Z77 mobo
Was far better than FX. Haha. Good old Ivy Bridge. I have a 2550K @ 4600 @ 1,34v. with a 1080nova liquid cooling. +980ti FC WC.

I have a 2007 gaming pc and I can run a suprising amount of games on it, don't underestimate old equipment.
Windows Vista was ok from the visual stand point, but really windows 7 was the peak of MS operating systems
