  • Princess Olga Romanoff's grandmother was the sister of the last Tsar of Russia. Today, 100 years after the Russian Revolution, Princess Olga comes to tell her story, how parts of the family managed to flee - while others were executed. She also talks about how her mother once was eager for her to marry Britain's prince Charles (7:54).
Also present in the studio are artist Måns Zelmerlöw and violinist and model Charlie Siem.

Leaving all wealth and possessions behind and board a ship to Canada much like the Romanovs. The memory of my grandmother stays with me still, she loved her French heritage and spoke only French, raised French poodles, and loved French food. @@sonaves5640 I’m 6 months late but I was confused and did some searching up. So the Grand Duchess Olga is the direct daughter of Tsar Alexander lll of Russia. The Lady here is the great-granddaughter of him. So technically grandniece of Grand duchess Olga. Grand duchess Olga has the title of grand duchess rather than princess. Princess Olga is the daughter of Prince Andrei, grandson of Tsar Alexander via his mother Grand Duchess Xenia( sister of tsar Nicolas ll, Grand Duchess Olga). I’m guessing her sister was overseas during the revolution like many of her other relatives. Unlike like what most of us believe, there are living direct lineage of Romanovs due to them being overseas or in a safe place from the revolutions. I know that most of the times siblings of kings or queens would have the title of Duke or Duchess rather than Prince ir Princess unless given I think? Please do correct me if I’m wrong thanks.Hope this clears it up?

My grandfather and great grandmother fled Russia through Yugoslavia, first, they lived in Florence, Italy for a while and later settled in France. My grandfather eventually became a French citizen and joined the French army during the 2WW. Hence the "de" prefix which was added by the French as well as other slight spelling variations. She mentioned quite a few relatives in the States. It's surprising how many do actually live here. I remember in the 1990s a lady passed away, no children, never married, lived in a modest apartment, worked as a bank teller for decades. When her bank security box was opened there was discovered a parure set of royal jewels set with enormous peridot stones, and was discovered she grande Duchess of the Holy Roman Empire. That's the way to leave behind the royalty and live a quiet private life, for anyone who TRULY wishes to do so.

By this time she had Two Sons.
This current Princess Olga is the Grand-daughter of Olga Alexandrovna., who passed in the 1970s???

I loved it when she said she was raised in "Just a normal sort of English aristocratic home".
She sounds like a "good old sort".

They should do more research of Princess Olga b4 this interview. Also, do give some basic respect to her, after all she is still a Princess. Love her sense of humour.

She's a woman FFS. She deserves no more respect than a bag lady. Princess shouldnt entitle her to anything more than anyone else.

Her grandmother, Olga, was an amazing mother who lost everything but kept the family together through thick and thin, narrowly escaping Stalin's efforts to have her seized in 1948.

Wow. Being American we are so distant from these type of Royal dynasties. To think that these people ruled for over 300 years is so interesting. that is one thing I am going to have to take time to read up upon so I can better understand what all matters were really about. Currently I am reading about the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln. But my next list for reading is definitely the Romanov family. There is knowledge and Power in Reading.
