We were surprised as well, it’s good to know companies like savage still have the people depending on their rifles in mind. I’m glad you liked the video 😎
My buddy and I took my new .223 Savage Axis to the range today and outta the box was damn pretty accurate and liked the trigger bought from Cabela's with a Bushnell scope already mounted and bore sighted...bolt was a little rough at first but nothing that bad and was lubed but first time using it and needs time and more oil....all in all a great day....hitting targets well and clays all afternoon
Love my 223 ,,it’s the do it all , available, cheap , ammo , easy to reload , easy to get good groups , weights from 40 to 69 grains shoot great, my favorite load is 28.1 grains of blc2 or 28 grains of w748 under a 50 grain nosier ballistic tip, or the Sierra 50 is just as good,,this load will turn a groundhog inside out ,shove em back in the hole , and cover em up if you shoot from the right angle. Ha ha ha
I hear Poo Pooing of savages all the time. Funny thing, none have ever owned and most have never shot one. It’s like the “ cool kids” like to hate on savage because, I guess , they don’t cost enough. I don’t own an Axis, but I do own 3 savage 110s. 30-06, 243 and 223. ALL are consistent sub MOA with most all ammo, and sub 1/2moa with ammo they particularly like. Nothing there to talk $hit about, so what’s the rub against Savage? I’m nowhere near young and remember Savages were everywhere when I was a kid. You couldn’t find a camp that didn’t have at least one. Yeah some hated the barrel nut, but the game never saw it. And super shiny guns, to me, are a deers best friend in the field. And probably the most used actions for bench shooting a “ roll your own” bench gun. I just don’t get it. Recently a friend wanted to get his son a new rifle, kid said “ anything but a savage”. It’s a whole generation thing.
I agree 100% The Savage is outstanding, I own a couple of 110s as well and they all shoot stellar! The 110 Hog Hunter is a favorite of ours, and it out shoots some $1900 rifles in my safe. Thanks for taking the time to comment 👍
There was a period that savage was putting out sub par stuff when I was growing up and I think most of the bad talk about them is referring to when they weren't making good guns anymore. The past 10-12 years they have been putting out some of the best rifles on the market. I just ordered my axis on Saturday and already planning on building my sub $1000 budget precision build.
@@DonnyTheSkitsDealer I don’t recall that period. The only thing,as I said, that I’ve ever heard since I was a kid is that they’re ugly because of the barrel nut and the plain wood and finishes. Now Remington I know had a bad spell, but no one is bashing on them for some reason, and they were putting out pure junk under several brand names. Not saying it didn’t happen, to Savage, I just don’t remember it. Savage has always had a reputation for out of the box accuracy, and still does. People turn up their noses but never give a real reason.
In the mid nineties (when I was in middle school) I remember hearing people say the Savage quality was bad, I had no experience with them myself, but sadly never purchased one due to hearsay… As an adult I have purchased four of their rifles and love every one of them. It’s like I told my nephew, “they may call it the poor man’s rifle, but the poor man’s going to eat” They are excellent rifles and I have no regrets owning them 😎
If'fen any kid told me "..anything but a Savage...", well, rest assured he'd definitely have a choice between a Savage, or nothing. Once you've used a Savage, you don't want anything else. Making a kid wiser, one example at a time. The Benchmark to Accuracy . . . ☆
They are worth every penny 👍 Not to say an extra $250 can’t buy you a more refined rifle, but the accuracy is right there with some more expensive models out there. Happy hunting and let me know how it works out for ya 👍
The scope is a Bushnell trophy 4x12-44BDC And Mr. Obvious has reloaded just about any round you can imagine… 25-06 is one he used to do in the past, he says it is a very accurate round.
If a barrel is not stamped 5.56 nato, I wouldn’t recommend shooting a 5.56 NATO round out of it. These are hunting rifles, and I would imagine they could handle hotter loads; however one should always stick to recommended pressures. Standard .223 has a chamber pressure of 55,000 psi While 5.56 nato has a chamber pressure of 58,000 psi I have personally never seen a catastrophic failure caused by mixing up the ammo, that being said, the manufacturers recommendations should always be followed. And in this case the barrel is stamped .223 Hope this helps 👍
My savage 308 has served me well. Over 100 deer harvested this far. Not to mention varmints!! Savage is great!!!!!
Great video and great shooting!
Who could imagine a stock Savage could do that.. Im impressed!

I brought the same rifle but it came with the accu trigger and she is a shooter
Savage does an excellent job… The accu trigger definitely helps as well 👍

Holds a minute at 400 yards for $350? That's gonna be my first rifle next week.

You can’t beat a 223,if I had to choose only one round it would be .223. I’ve owned 4 I have the savage 110 right now? Great video
Just purchased the savage axis ii xp strata camo 25/06 1 in 10 twist,. Any good suggestions what grain ammo for savage. Thanks.
From mr. obvious… 120 gr for deer is good. I have killed deer with 100 gr Nosler ballistic tip 56 gr 4831 IMR powder out to 300 yards.
Does Mr obvious reload 25/06 ammo

A lot of bang for the buck
Nice rifle cuz
Is this a good beginner rifle?
Yes this is an excellent first rifle… Very accurate and easy to use 👍
A .22 Long Rifle makes a better 1st rifle . . .

if you get one, try to make the AXIS II....or whatever includes the AccuTrigger. It makes a tremendous difference.
