I would reccomend filling the tank all the way up to the black rims. It's "proper" and kinda makes the fish look like they are floating because you can't see the waterline.
The reason I dont have it filled up to the rim. Is because I have snails in the tank that would get out of I did so. Due to the fact I'm missing part of my lid. Also my fish seem to like swimming up to the top and sticking their head out of the water. Thirdly, it seems to provide more oxygen because of the distance the water goes before hitting water. I know because I notice more bubbles.
@@McHighler The snails would still get out if they wanted. They try to escape when the water quality goes bad. I've seen them in tanks in rimless tanks without tops, and they stay in because the water quality is good. I think airation would be fine either way. As for the fish liking to poke their heads out the top, I've never seen that lol My goldfish only ever wen't to the top in search of food. Idk. Whatever works for you.

Quick tip. You should clean the water every week, i noticed in your other fish tank the color of the water and I don’t know if you tan it or whatever but take 1/3 of the water out and refill it up once a week, i’m 50 years old and i’ve kept aquariums since I was a teenager. Weekly water changes are the key to fish tanks!
I appreciate that, we do, do water changes atleast once a week. I do however seem to have issues with every filter I buy. They all eventually quit working. I wish they made them filters better
@@McHighler Check out the AquaClear filters or Seachem filters. More expensive, but last a long time when properly maintained. The impellers still have to be cleaned every month or so.
tsunaga we had drift would in the old tank and not all the tannis were out so i took out the drift would thw water color would have cleared in a few days

Also the water doesn’t carry the bacteria I know it’s to late now but for newer people the bacteria isn’t in the water it is all over your tank but most of it is in your filter

People use to just throw baby turtles in 3 gallon a plastic tank with an inch of water and think that was okay and some ignorant morons still do that but way less common at least. It was just a guessing game for me and my parents when we started based off whatever bullshit petco told us to do with our fish lol. Now I'm 24 and I'm doing much better because of TH-camrs and my own research. I'm sure these people are older than 16 but maybe they aren't fully into the hobby yet so they've got some learning to do for sure. Definitely not a fish channel. The videos range from smoking pot/cleaning bongs (not that anything is wrong with that lol) to random vlogs and then I believe this is the only fish related video that I saw when I scrolled through them and it doesn't look like they have any other tanks in that room so it just seems like this isn't their main interest so they don't know as much as they should.
The filter is that loud because you didn’t add water inside of it those top fin filters don’t suck up the water you have to add water to the back of them. Your filter motor probably burned out

To let any one know tht watched the video or is gonna watch it the tank the fish were in previously was tinted brown from the drift wood tht I had taken out the tannies in the wood didnt come completely out the water in the tank wasnt harming the fish and the small amouts of tannis that were in the tank would have cleard in a few days it wasnt harmful .second of all the lights are old so it looks darker than it really was in the tank .
I would suggest you guys invest in a powerful filter. Especially since ya’ll adding many fishes. Maybe go with a canister filter? Or buy 2 Fluval 70 Filters. Cause those top fin filters that come in the kit are terrible.

Put your air pump on a timer, and mine isn't even close to that loud. Could be the brand you got. But either way if you put it on a timer you wouldn't have to hear it at night.

Those goldfish are definently going to outgrow that 50 gallon. I would say that the best thing to do then is to transfer them to a big pond or a minimum tank size of 80+ gallons.

@@McHighler Here is a list of everything you guys did wrong that I caught. I'm guessing everything died except maybe the goldfish. 1. Didn't verify if the dresser would hold 500lbs. 2. Didn't center the tank to evenly distribute the weight. 3. Didn't level the dresser to level the tank. 4. Used a toxic BPA rubber lined garden hose to fill the tank (and only partially flushed the stagnate hose water by accident). 5. Didn't cycle the tank with nitrifying bacteria. 6. Didn't rinse the sand. 7. Electrical outlets near water without GFCI protection and no drip loops. 8. Rinsed plants in chlorinate tap water. 9. Didn't add the appropriate amount of water conditioner. 10. Didn't temperature acclimate them properly. 11. Poured pet store water into your tank. 12. Added tropical fish with goldfish. Goldfish need 68-72 degree water Tropicals need 76-82. 13. No heater used for tropicals which would be harmful to goldfish anyway. 14. Turned the light on too soon. Should have waited until the next morning. 15. Suggested getting more fish when it's already overstocked with the two large goldfish already. 16. Added only 45 gallons of water to a 55 gallon tank. No hate Mike but you need to ease up off the pot. You guys are forgetting basic things and you have a hard time forming sentences. Sin always promises big, but it never delivers of which I am no exception either. I gave my life to Jesus and gave up pot soon after high school. Note I said I came to Jesus first.

Get a UV light for aquariums. Helped my cloudy tank as well as 50% water changes every other week

It took almost 3 years for my fish to get that size. Generally the bigger the tank, the bigger your goldsidh will grow.
