I started my interest working as a BDR when I watched your videos, I tried to apply for almost a year and got rejected thousand times but i didn't give up I got hired but one of the biggest company in US this month and your videos helped me to get this. More videos to come
I started my sales career at Oracle as well where I began as a Business Development Rep. What a rewarding career it has been since then! Great to see the high quality sales content you're putting out! 👏
@@eddie7910 This was in 2015 and the base salary was 45k and I made about 75k after exceeding my number. Just a year later they bumped the base salary up for BDRs to 55k. The key was getting promoted to an inside rep after a year and then I was able to start making 6 figures. The beauty of tech sales is 6 figures is very achievable once you get to any type of closing role
I have just taken a role in BDM IN a startup tech company and your vedios are helping me understand what the basic roles are Thank you Patrick! From Ethiopia!
Three Key Takeaways: 1) A big part of the Business Development Reps job is simply finding new potential companies/organizations to work with. About 90% of the day will be dedicated to prospecting and creating lists, as well as reaching out to said prospects, 2) The other 10% of the day will be dedicated to actually fulfilling on any scheduled meetings with prospects. This is the stage where you qualify the lead to make sure they actually are a good fit to work with you and your company, 3) General Responsibilities Include: research and data analytics, outreach (via cold email, LinkedIn, cold calling), attending and leading meetings, solving problems for your prospects (or bringing in the right people who can solve the problem if you can't), meeting prospects in-person or via video call, keeping things organized and moving along, and finally following-up with your team leaders on how the lead is fairing
I was actually hoping to see a video where you take us through your day with a timeline, well that would be really great, especially in this current work from home scenario...
This was sucha great video and very informative. i just started a job as a marketing and business development rep at a start up and with no prior experience in the field and this video really gave me some insight as to what direction to start looking towards. i really appreciate it
WOW WOW!!! Your video was insightful and I love how you thoroughly spoke about BDR working at different levels. I have a social work background and I believe my background will transfer nicely. Completed a tech sales course through Course Careers earlier this year. I am still nervous about applying b/c of imposter syndrome. I don’t even know what I want to sale.
Broski, can you please make a more specific video: how do you find contacts, what services do you use, how do you write crm, what do you write in initial email and what your pings are looking like. I dig your stuff, wish you were a bit more specific
Hello Patrick, I hope you’re doing good. Can you please explain how to tackle with the business development role interview and what are the tools to be learnt in this 2020 ? Thank you in advance
I study software development. I am a great programmer and developer. But I'm too rush in finding jobs then I land a job in business development. I do my work great and perfect, but I hate it every second. If you are an introvert or love working alone. This is not for you.
Same. studied mechanical eng. Built career in Big4 finance. But pivoted into BD during Covid without knowing it could be a trap. the money is great, a reason why I stay. it can be as intellectually fulfilling as I want it to be. plus, definitely there are rooms for growth here. But idk how to pivot back into a more technical field. unless if i start from zero again.
I love your videos! the way you explain is easy to understand. Thank you Patrick. wish me luck for my first internship interview tomorrow! I hope I am accepted in this company and be a good business development person! Keep going and stay healthy. I just subscribed you hahaha
I still cannot define the boundary between BD and sales very clearly, everything done by the BD as explained in this video is actually what should be done by the sales as well, within B2B area. I have a question: whether do BDRs take back the contract?
