Saudi Arabia Hotel explore - UNLOCKED OLD LIFT MOTOR ROOM (Part 1of2)

- Here we have 3 lifts -
2x passenger lifts from the late 80s/early 90s and a service lift from the 60s/70s that hasn't been updated at all.
But filming these wasn't quite good enough. It's always worth climbing those extra stairs at the top of any stairwell. I'm not even sure if the motor room door 'had' a lock on it at all! It was open, and it's my pleasure to show you around this delicious motor room!
That stairwell was creepy by the way - see the wobbly hand-rail also!!

no, actually I like places like this - much more interesting to explore. Prefer old fashioned hotels with old equipment than plush new hotels with glass everywhere. But ONLY if the hotel has lifts lol

All three elevators are original from the late 70s. Including the passenger ones with automatic doors

Not so many of these in the UK now due to "health and safety" laws over here which are sometimes completely over the top.

Great video ! It seems that the service elevator has been updated. At 03:13 we can see that its engine is nearly brand new, it looks like a W140N. We have this very one in our apartments building. Last year they changed every bit of our lift ( excepted the car ), but I managed to salvage the ( heavy ) relay board ( nearly the same as the one seen at 03:07, with less relays however ). It was a one-speed lift, and it scared every people who didn't take it before because they always thought we were stuck when it stopped ahah. Oh, and if the lift was busy ( if someone already called it or was inside ), you had to wait for it to complete its task before using it.
Cool, sounds like really basic controller - one destination at a time.
About your comment on the service lift, I always thought this motor was the oldest one, but I think you're right... take a look at my new video:

and the same fixtures as the old bed lift in Guy's Hospital, London (I haven't been there but I have seen videos of it on TH-cam.
It seems like the call buttons have the 1960s Schindler logo on them.
The way they overdid the don't-care-about-safety is like a comedy. Open fans in the ceiling, no doors inside the car, loose banisters, unlocked motor room.. LOL :) But they still had money for marble and mirrors everywhere! :D

The innerdoorless is an old RCS ( Roux Combaluzier Schindler ) , does the other lift are originals too ?
The service lift is original and the passenger lifts must have been fitted at the same time. So the answer is probably no, they've been modernised in the 90s (still nice though!)

What is the purpose of the fan? Smoking in the elevator? I´ve only see them in old elevators.

That is such a goofy setup both of them are on the same controller but one is a standard automactic and the other one has swing doors on it

+DieselDucy I loved it though. There is a bit of a story here - I was involved in a project in Saudi that lasted for a couple of months, over several visits. The first and second visit we stayed in a different hotel (this one... th-cam.com/video/35zgS_Hc4sM/w-d-xo.html), but on the third visit this previous hotel was fully booked. The company in Saudi that we were working with said that "unfortunately we cannot book the 5 star hotel this time, would it possibly be ok if we book a 4 star instead?"... Well, I don't know about you but I think older buildings have more character and older hotels can sometimes have older lifts. So there was absolutely no doubt about it, "OF COURSE" I replied!! Only one thing though, the mattress wasn't all that nice, but filming these lifts definitely made up for it!!! Thanks for the comment and take care.

The lift with no doors must be dangerous if you get your clothing caught between shaft and car.
