  • Firstly - no matter how many times I rode it, it DIDN'T get stuck! :( This is just a quick video that I edited, whilst I'm editing loads of others, sample of them shown in this video. See more here:
    I was told "DON'T RIDE THE LIFT (or 'elevador') ON THE RIGHT' because it keeps getting stuck. In fact the contractor I was working with got stuck in it a couple of days before. It was turned off and a sticker covered the call button - "STOP - LIFT IS UNDER MAINTENANCE". It's soon to also be modernised. Everyone was to ONLY use the newly opened lift on the left instead.
    The thing is, it's on my bucket list to get PROPERLY stuck in a lift. So the next day the sticker was still covering the call button, but the lift was SWITCHED BACK ON for some reason. PERFECT CHANCE, but no matter how many times I rode it, IT DIDN'T BREAK DOWN FOR ME :/
    However, once the engineers were on lunch break, it gave me an opportunity to explore the unlocked motor room!
    I have some complicated projects that I'm editing, which means that usually you don't see an upload from me...! So last night I edited this video in JUST 3 HOURS! That's a record time for me, as usually it takes 3 weeks or 3 months! (in my 'spare time' of course, not that I have much with everything else that's going on)
    Admittedly, not one of my best videos, but whilst I'm editing the other larger projects, I thought I'd upload this one to give you something to watch!
    Also notice the BELTS (left lift) replacing CABLES (right lift).
    And don't you think that the new lift motor look like an OLD FASHIONED PHOTOGRAPHY CAMERA!?
    COMING SOON:
    1) HARRIHEALEY02
    The return of HARRIHEALEY02! Harri started his channel even before me, in 2007. He had some excellent content, and we met up many times and found some really old lifts. Harri was known for somehow getting lifts stuck! Unfortunately, in about 2014 he accidentally deleted his account when he thought he was logged into a different account and, although he was still there, his account was renamed. Well, I've kept in contact with him for years and years now, we met up and did some filming!
    / @harrisonhealey1679
    *LIFT VIDEOS COMING SOON*
    2) 1960s SCHINDLER LIFT
    Me and Harri were given a whole afternoon of unrestricted filming of an old Schindler lift. We record 64GB worth of video. 5 CAMERA ANGLES. Man... this is a mamouth editing task! Sample at end of video.
    3) VINTAGE HOTEL LIFT
    Sample at end of video!
    #########################################
    THE MRMATTANDMRCHAY CHANNEL, established 2009:
    I'm passionate about uploading quality and interesting videos for YOU, my audience.
    What is my channel about? "Old lift machinery made interesting", old air-raid sirens, prehistoric alarm equipment - things that I find fascinating and I hope you will too. If "I" don't find it interesting - IT DOESN'T GET UPLOADED!
    I always spend a lot of time editing my videos with animations, video in-sync with music and voice overs to make them this way. I'm also a perfectionist!
    My moto - "Quality NOT Quantity" - spending a month editing a video is not a rarity!
    But without you, I'm nothing here. Thank you so much for watching.

    A very nice video that shows an example of a new winch and an old one next to it. Although I do not appreciate the gearless winches, Schindler has at least made the effort to put it back in the machine room and I find it better than having it in shaft, I repeat it is a beautiful video.

    • @mrmattandmrchay
      @mrmattandmrchay  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, and with that diverting 'sheave?' (looks more like a bar!) the belts can travel from middle to the side of the shaft for the counterweight. I bet most of their machines are for top of shaft mounting though (MRL)

    • @ElevatorExploration
      @ElevatorExploration 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All the new machines at Schindler are destined for MRL and unfortunately it's really sheaf!

    Filmed in Portugal, I suspect. However, never seen such a botch job in my life. The Schindler lifts are crap, especially those with controllers from Rekoba. I've seen one such lift controller activating both up and down contactors at the same time! Bang! And the other lift sharing the same room exceeding the travel limit as well.

    about the bucket list: I already managed to get myself stuck. That was when I received the inspection report for our lift, stating that the weight blocks on the cabin roof must be either removed or fixed. So I thought, let's have a look at these things. I opened the hatch in the cabin, sneaked through it and in fact saw those weight blocks. Bad idea, however, as the hatch as a security switch, which locks all lift functions, including opening the cabin doors. And that switch does not reset itself, after you close the hatch.
    For a moment, I considered climbing onto the roof and free myself by bringing the lift into inspection mode. But I thought that I had done enough stupid things, that day, and the service needed to be called anyway to bring the lift back into normal operation.
    So I pressed the alarm button and in order to avoid unnecessary cost for finding the fault, I immediately confessed to the technician what I did, which was a bit awkward.
    So opening that hatch might be a good way to work on that bucket list of yours.

    I’ve never been stuck in a lift before either, and since last week never broken anything either. I guess it has to happen at some point statistically. Last week I fell off my bike when commuting to work as it was slippery. I broke my left arm. For first time in 36 years I broke something🤕. So getting stuck in a lift well, someday it’s bound to happen? Things like these never come at a convenient moment.

    • @mrmattandmrchay
      @mrmattandmrchay  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's not good. I've never broken anything either, but I've heard loads of stories that I'd rather forget from the other guys in our kickboxing class! Hope your arm heals soon - 6 weeks isn't it?

    • @dykodesigns
      @dykodesigns 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mrmattandmrchay Yes it should take about 6 weeks. The doctor gave me a sling, and after a week I can no do some basic physio exercises. The bone was broken below the shoulder, in my upper arm. I fell because it had frozen slightly and wasn't aware that the street was so slippery when I wanted to make a left hand turn. Also, I go reasonbly fast but all these years it went fine without accidents. Luckely I can use my right arm to control the mouse and type with one hand, but writing something on paper isn't possible as I'm left handed, but I learned since childhood to use the right for the mouse as my dad had this setup from day one. CAD work is difficult at the moment as it requires both hands so I let an apprentice operate the design software whilst I give instructions.

What youtube HAS done for you, is to get noticed. People that subscribe to you will have the same interests and perhaps the same age as you. Don't feel that you HAVE to get thousands of views per upload, because you don't, but it doesn't matter. BTW, are you interested in intruder alarm stuff? What would cause a lift to get stuck?

    • @Lift.Tracker
      @Lift.Tracker 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Simon Tay It could be anything really. A problem with the logic (more common with relay controlled lifts), a fault with a certain important part which can cause the whole lift to stop working. Sometimes the reason why a lift will trap you is for safety. Sometimes it will still be able to work, but it’s safer for it to stop.
