+Dan Fox Yes, I miss the 90's, and endless Saturday mornings of SNES games on the couch with my friends, instead of playing online, when these games were considered cutting edge. Also, riding bikes to the video store, arcades around every other corner, etc, etc... So yeah, I feel ya.
Man this game brings back all kinds of memories. Back when I was 10 years old (now 32) my brother passed away and my mom fell into a heavy depression, so we went to stay over at my grandma's place. I took my SNES and this game with me and I would play all day. I guess it's not the kind of game to bring any sort of emotional feelings, but for me it represented a way to just hold on while everything was so chaotic
Oh my god the sound and visuals are giving me the feels- I’m now my younger self playing this game over and over again. Everything from the menu to the sound track and graphics - man this game sums my childhood up :s
Nostalgia level off the charts! Almost brought a tear to my eyes when I saw this... If remember correctly, this was the very first game my mom got me. Thank you for the memory trip
I used to have this back in the day on my snes, and it was one of my favorite games. The music is really good and the sound effects packs a certain punch.
The moment you hear the first levels music omg you know your in for a fun time, one of the SNES' best games This actually pushed the SNES to its limit on some occasions when doing the level 2 super shot and having too many enemies on screen
This game uses bad the SNES hardware because rushed to fit the early line up. Many coding space were left behind and slowdown without SA-1 patch are the proof
Used to play this and Super Mario World all the time with my mom and sister when we were living in a little studio apartment in the Florida panhandle in maybe ‘93. Brings back some good memories.
Instresting fact this was the best selling game on the Super Nintendo, until Super Mario World supassed it in Janurary of 1992. Making it the only game to out sell SMW on the SNES.
Linda demaiss essas musicas meu deus do céu . Me tirou foi duma depressão no ano de 2015 . E eu ganhei a minha vidas de volta !! Fui liberto do sofrimento hoje 2019 estou feliz !😅😅😅🤣🏖
The biggest problem to me is, even without slowdown it runs way too slow compared to the game its based on (R-Type II arcade). I dont know how that even happened tbh. The Tx16 version of 1 runs at the correct speed, and thats an 8 bit console for everything except graphics. Super R-Type kinda reminds me of the master system port of the first game that runs at half of intended speed of the arcade.
well played u r a Don. at least u know a proper game. bring back the good ol days. thanx dude u deserve a medal for representin all them years ago. still no proper re make of the game. one day .....respect
Harder then Ninja Gaiden on the NES and Contra 3 on the SNES. As a kid, I've only beaten the first stage on normal mode ......................after stating over God knows how many times.😱
oh man, oh man, oh man, ohhhh mannnn. Where had time gone??? I used to play this game and passed it about 3 timesss. One of the hardest gamed on Super Nintendo and i have nostalgia memories right now...
I still think the original R-Type and the remake of it- Dimensions is the best version. Most original level designs and weapons. And never gets old. I still remember me and my friend as kids walking down the highway to a bar down the road and playing the shit out of R-Type on the arcade machine. So glad to have the remake on the Xbox 360. I don't think there's been a game released on so many platforms as R-Type? I mean there was even a C64 and Amiga version of it! (I had it on the Turbo Graffix 16). Hell, I even have it on my Android phone! I'd re-buy Dimensions on the PC if it where available. Love R-Type!
+E5m Pretty sure that Lemmings was released on more platforms than R-Type. The original Prince of Persia is another game which saw many different versions...
+what? From the ones I played (the first, a bit of this one here, the third and Delta), yeah, Delta is the best. I'd say: R-Type Delta > R-Type I and III >>> Super R-Type. The second on Arcade seems on par with the first, maybe less memorable, and R-Type Leo, tho a bit different, seems very interesting.
As a side note, some of the people who would later do the music for the Metal Slug games made/arranged the music for this. Also, the game has a distinctly Nazca-ish art style.
I heavily disagree personally. The game runs way too slow for a r-type game. Its literally half the speed of r-type II. I can excuse it in the Master System port, but thats an 8 bit console. The Tx16 could literally get the correct speed in R-Type 1 with a 8 bit cpu too. The SNES got no excuses for making the game this slow even when tis running without slowdown. Id love a rom hack that makes it proper speed and removes the slowdown though.
In the arcade all 3 remaining ships are destroyed by that blue shockwave after they escape the spaceship. Look up the Arcade version. The SNES seems to change it so 3 survive the blue shockwave.
Definitely agree with you there! If Super Castlevania 4 was made into a movie, they could take the game's BGM and put it right into the movie. Probably win an Academy Award for it, too.

Believe it or not, i used the slowdown to my advantage back then as a kid to give me extra time to react/think ahead. Sure, it was annoying at times, but beneficial LOL miss this game tho!
Would it be possible to make a 'Kai' version with extra levels on X68000 or even X68000 XVI (it did work when Gradius 2 on MSX got a Kai version for X68K!)?
I like this game but I don’t play it much. I spend most of my time in the option menu listening to the bgm and playing with the sound effects-mainly to make bgm sound different. I do this by playing bgm 0E and SE 0B then I replay 0E and every time a different harmony is missing (works on 00 to 0F).
Metal Gear Solid series, Shadow of the Colossus, God of War, Uncharted, The Elder Scrolls III/IV/V, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect, Journey; all of those games have excellent soundtracks.
Awesome memories. I like that every stage has a cool background and cool music. Don't y'all miss the 90s?
not really. I was raped by my uncle constantly
+stubblefieldJR Really? That sucks.
Yes. Wish I could go back.
Me too. I think the 21st century sucks compared to the 90's (my childhood years.)

Thanks for the upload. I finally get to see the levels past stage 3. Yeah, i sucked at R-Type...
I play this game all the time in 2007. Bring back memories.
My dad had gave us this game I bought it 07 too I was in high school at 07 I’m 30 now this game came out the same year I was born
I used to have this back in the day on my snes, and it was one of my favorite games. The music is really good and the sound effects packs a certain punch.
One of the best in the series! Great looking! Epic sound and musical arrangement!

@@Danielsonic87 exactly. Few early titles had those similar issues but then many others were perfection.
One of the very BEST games of the Early 90s.
If I'm not playing Pokemon, I'm playing R-type. (I love both of those games.)
Brings back memories. I remember that me and my brother used to play this game a lot on our old snes :) Thank you for the upload :)
After nearly 20 years, I finally see the true ending. Hard+Pro is impossible for me. YOU ARE GREAT!
Great Remake ! Best Soundtrack ever !!!
no.
Idk if this can count as remake.
Used to play this and Super Mario World all the time with my mom and sister when we were living in a little studio apartment in the Florida panhandle in maybe ‘93. Brings back some good memories.
Was obsessed with the background music as a kid.
WOW! was just a little kid when I played this at my uncle's house. Thanks for uploading!
I spent so much time playing this game. So brilliant weapons system. One of best shoot'em up ever.
What a classic. This & Contra are what got me into gaming
That intro, made me dream about driving a spaceship every night when i was a kid.
This game, Super Mario RPG, and Super Bomberman 2 were my favorite SNES games I owned!
Mucha muchas gracias brow lo jugaba a. Los 8 años y solo llegaba a nivel 2 ahora tengo 25,ahora se en qué acaba felicidades tienes mi respeto 👏🙌👏♥️
You are a truly Hero. How finished the game without any tear or any wound. Flawless Victory !!!!! 👍👊🎆🎉🎊🎇
wow we used to play this for ages when i was a kid, thanks for bringing back memories - your brilliant - you would have been King round at my house.
i've just noticed your cheating!!!! haha lame
Still on Hard level though.
Instresting fact this was the best selling game on the Super Nintendo, until Super Mario World supassed it in Janurary of 1992. Making it the only game to out sell SMW on the SNES.
I thought it was great. Guss and Gorilla thought it was great.
lol
Why is this a top comment when it's a lie??
@@adawg9866 I think it's a joke comment, because I presume it technically went on sale shortly before the console even went on sale.

I played this all summer as a kid and got as far as level 3 only. Love this game!
Omg been looking everywhere for this game play. I remember plying this as a kid!
Thank you for this. One of my all time favorites :)
This is some heavy sauce gameplay and skills dude!!
This needs blast processing bad! Lol. Love this franchise!
I actually find the lag to be very helpful, since it slows down game time and gives you more time to react to all the crap.
Take a peek to Mega R-Type fandom made. It's the blastP that you desire now🤪🤪🤑

Nice soundtrack and gameplay. Oh the memories.
the nostalgia. i remember my cousins come over every weekends and we plays this and street fighter.
The hardest game ever to beat!
Rtype 2 for the arcade is even harder!

49:48 So impressive the music on this stage. Amazing.
To be fair, sometimes limitations help creativity.
What really would’ve helped is some darn checkpoints
@@opaljk4835 😂😂
God the music went so fucking HARD. Still rmemeber it over 20 years later
It's nice to be able to sit back and appreciate the subtleties in the game's play and graphics rather than frantically dodging bullets and obstacles.
Been playing through it again & watching my kids play. Good times and they think it’s so hard!
man this game is awesome and this is really good remake of r-type ii.
THANK YOU FOR SAVING US
I've playing this game in 1998, now I'm 30 old. This game was the best
omg the nostalgia, i loved playing this as a kid

Even level easy was too difficult for me loooool this player is a saint
I think this title is relatively decent here. Don’t let some of the negative comments this game has get you down. It’s worth a shot.
This game was so difficult I don't know how my mom managed to pass it but I couldn't. -__-
This game had some badass music. I would always crank up the volume when I played it
SNES classic. Killer soundtrack!!
Was obsessed with this game when I was a kid.
One of the rare times that the home console port was better than the arcade version, and possibly more difficult.
RIP to the Penis Crab boss, though.
There IS also the TurboGrafx 16 port of the original R-Type 1 game.
I heavily disagree personally. The game runs way too slow for a r-type game. Its literally half the speed of r-type II.

Aw. I never really noticed that one of the ships you save doesn't make it in the end. :(
In the arcade all 3 remaining ships are destroyed by that blue shockwave after they escape the spaceship. Look up the Arcade version. The SNES seems to change it so 3 survive the blue shockwave.
Loved this game takes me back (:
There's a reason for that.
Many of the designers of R-Type went on to form Nazca Corporation, the creators of the metal slug series.
I always loved the music in this game
Definitely agree with you there! If Super Castlevania 4 was made into a movie, they could take the game's BGM and put it right into the movie. Probably win an Academy Award for it, too.
これ8歳くらいのときに親にやらされてクリア出来んで泣いたけど、この弾幕見るに8歳児herdやらせてたのかうちの親
Finally I found it now its time to bring back my childhood memories
The fall of '91, what a great time for video gaming!
Good evening. Would you have some time to talk about our savior, BLAST PROCESSING ?
No, it's just a buzzword after all. Now let me close this door on your foot.
ghallium
Go home stranger, you are not welcome here.
In the arcade all 3 surviving hero ships are destroyed by that blue shockwave at the end after they escape the enemy spaceship. Look up the Arcade version. The SNES seems to change it so 3 survive the blue shockwave.
In the snes there is four of them, but one didn't survive the explosion of the ship.
this game still is awesome
Believe it or not, i used the slowdown to my advantage back then as a kid to give me extra time to react/think ahead. Sure, it was annoying at times, but beneficial LOL miss this game tho!
Its fun to cheese with until the game randomly accelerating to normal fps again and you crash into a wall because your ship accelerated 4 times speed
Awesome job man! You rock at this game!
Man, I loved that game.
Ah I still remember that slowdown at 2:04 after all these years
7:43 That bullet passed through your ship's sprite. Friggin' hitbox dissonance.
Awesome soundtrack! omg the nostalgia!
I remember trying to avoid that damn blue laser shot power up on the last stage. If you got that you were screwed.
Would it be possible to make a 'Kai' version with extra levels on X68000 or even X68000 XVI (it did work when Gradius 2 on MSX got a Kai version for X68K!)?
30 anos despues pude ver el final :-) gracias por el video
I like how this game is a remake of R-TYPE II with some changes
Awesome game! Amazing soundtrack, too.
You can feel the game slowing down because this game did push the snes to it's limits in that days
my, the background of the 1st stage has changed! Maybe it looks different since I had only played the japanese version?
This person is amazing. I owend this game or better yet said this game owend me lol. I couldn't get past the 4 level. Good shit.
classic. loved all the versus. beat them all too.
how do you play VGM's in your car? I tried looking for some soundtracks on iTunes and they don't have any. I'm looking for Star Fox's sound track.
This game was so difficult! Loved it though.
Especially I love the music
Every boss: FACE MY AWESOME POWER!!!
Player: Haha! Ship go pew pew, and monster go boom boom!
This game was a wokr of art
Amazing SNES games!!
the sfx all sound like they are in somesort of goo.
Estlib Anon Hilarious comment! lol I thought the same thing when I heard those 'squishy' sounds.
+Estlib Anon Yeah typical SNES muffled sound.
The snes used really compressed sample libraries for sound.
@Nhoshishi Maybe it's pilot was the Green Biker Dude from Mega Man X2?
I never beat this game yet you did so much better than I did!
I love the stage design and soundtrack of this game over the original R-Type II's, but the nutcrunching difficulty can be a bit much, lol.
And to top it off, no checkpoints. Die to a boss? Too bad, do the entire stage over.
I'm here because it's on switch online now
Because creativity is fueled by overcoming LIMITS.
I love the straight forward Simplicity of those old Games? Story? Reason? Fuck it, just go out and shoot everything that moves 😀
I LOVE THIS MUSIC!!!!!
i always thought of the blue glass as the big nose of the ship XD
