I have used my InReach mini, all through the Bering, and remote parts of Alaska. And even the lower 48 for fires. Just to keep in touch, worth its weight in gold.

A Honda EU2000 with a Victron multi plus will output 100 amps or make hot water. It's a popular option for outboard powered cruisers.

So, are most of those places, you're docking at, setup because of cruise lines? Or local fishing industry? Seems like a well established route.

The towns were all there before cruise ships.
Prince Rupert gets cruise ships. Shearwater, Hartley Bay, Klemtu do not. Ketchikan gets a lot of cruise ships.
On our way North, we stayed at Bar Harbor in Ketchikan which is away from the cruise ship docks (and away from downtown Ketchikan). Quieter.
On our way South, we stayed at Thomas Basin Marina in Ketchikan which is right in downtown Ketchikan, surrounded by cruise ships.
Juneau and Hoonah also get cruise ships. Petersburg does not get cruise ships.
Petersburg, Hoonah, Juneau and Ketchikan are big fishing towns.

Couple Questions, Before I start researching this, how much does it cost to add AIS to a boat? Also, is channel 16 VHF the channel you and everybody else monitors?

AIS is about 1 boat unit plus install. The fcc issued MMSI number is about another $200.
Everybody monitors channel 16. I always scan 9, 16, 22. And if I’m traveling with other boats, I also monitor 72.

I know it is. You can’t hear the Yamaha engine underway.
