I pack that box like crazy with fabric and sewing notions, and other things like you...but a ton of sewing stuff! In the end, I sprinkle little red baby confetti hearts all over in the box so when they open it, tons of hearts spill out❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
One of the most thoughtful boxes I've seen. The wow item can be a clothing item like the tee shirt. It's nice to know a younger person has the passion & love for these children as well. Sweet teddy & awesome colorful items. Great job!
You did a great job filling this box! I Love filling shoe boxes too. One thing I might suggest Is I was putting those little sewing kits in my boxes for this year and have in past year's but when I compared the quality to the 3 dollar sewing kits from dollar general I was shocked! The dollar sewing kits had dull scissors and plastic thimbles but with the bigger kit you got a measuring tape a pin cushion metal thimble alot of quality thread and a full pair of scissors which can double for school supplies plus the other sewing items like buttons safety pins needle and so on. Anyways just something I noticed so I hope that helps! 😊 It's a few dollars more but it has a measuring tape which can double like a ruler and scissors so well worth it!
I noticed in some of the videos that people were packing new unsharpened pencils, and it occurred to me that these people may not have the means to sharpen a pencil...other than using a sharp knife. So it would make sense to include a pencil sharpener for the pencils, right? Also, someone in another video said if you’re packing a toothbrush, it’s much better to pack it in a plastic toothbrush holder to keep it more sanitary especially when the child is not using it.

Sewing kits are really great gifts for shoeboxes. I make mine. During school clearance sales, and especially afterwards, office supply stores and sometimes Walmart stores have school scissors/ pens/ pencils/ erasers/ sharpeners on clearance or deep discounts. In 2019 I found Sclolastic brand of scissors for $0.25 a pair; as well as good pencils/ pens/ erasers/ sharpeners- cheap!!! in late September, at an Office Depot store- much sturdier than those in mini sewing kits. I buy felt, for needle books, cut it into mini booklets about 5”x4” with 3 “pages” which I secure with a couple of securely knotted stitches at the middle “ book binding area”. I thread a few needles,( wrapping thread around top/ bottom of needles to secure them in needle booklets. ) one looped into book) which I divide up large packs of varied types of sewing needles, making sure there are big holed ones like darning, yarn ones ( these come in packs of about 5) as well as different sized sewing ones. I get embroidery floss, as well as a several small and big balls of colored crochet cotton( thrift stores sell several of them in bags for a couple of dollars, often in original packaging). I cut rectangles from cardboard boxes, cut “ v- shaped notches at top and bottom of rectangle, and slits on side- I use them to hold thin crochet (thread) cotton, as well as the thicker cotton, as crochet cotton is much stronger and longer lasting than cheap sewing thread. If I see a sale on sewing thread, I include a spool or two. I collect buttons from old clothing( yard sales, thrift stores, discards, sterilize them( important) , add a measuring tape( our $ store has packs of 3 , but some posts suggest Ikea’s free paper tapes measures-) a flexible ruler might work and lasts. I sometimes include sequins, appliqués, ribbon and yarn and cloth bits, etc so the child can decorate their clothing or pillowcase I try to include to hold box items. I like to add a tarp, and rope, and clothes pins, keeps rain out, means to dry items, and can offer some privacy where families sleep outside or in crowded areas).
I just packed a box for girls 10-14 and I put in washable sanitary pads. one of the biggest things holding back girls from going to school is when they start their menstrual cycle they just won't go anymore because they don't have the means to deal with it away from home and there's a lot of shame surrounding it. There's actually a documentary on Netflix about it called period: end of sentence. I encourage everyone to watch it.
Why are people always so rude? We go with the best we can afford! These kids have nothing and people put in time and effort to help them out, people should not be picking fault with their efforts. I put in a mixture of things at various prices and quality...I’m sure the kids will be delighted with what they have received.....oh and by the way the saying goes ‘if you don’t have anything nice to say!’
Your box is nice but please cover the toothbrush with a sandwich bag. The brush goes in their mouths and the items in the box come off shelves and are not clean.

They don't allow toothpaste because the kids were eating it. And writing on the container might ruin it for the kids who want it to look pristine. Just a thought. Good box.

I don't believe you can put in the deodorant - no liquids and this might melt so place it in a plastic bag. But I am pretty sure you can't add deodorant. :D
You crushed your stickers and you cant color those coloring books with crayons, you need colored pencils. Too many tiny spaces. Also toothbrush needs a holder

If u can add multiple house hold or common item so the whole family can get things. Also cut note books in half to maximize space and have more.

In Canada, it asks for no "decks of standard playing cards". I was wondering about a pkg of domino type game I got being not allowed as well.
