    I was very excited to use the certate lt5000d pier fishing for spanish, and bonito. Reel was super smooth and easy to turn under load, very light weight and fits around 350-400 yards of braided pe#2 line. I was able to lift 5-7 lb fish up the pier without having to pump the rod. But unfortunately, after 3 days of fishing, the felt drag washers got completely shredded and inside of reel spool was scraping to metal washers. I could not believe they shoved felt washers into $500 reel. Daiwa bg and even cheap $60 shimano reels in 5000 size come with carbon fiber drag washers. I hope daiwa will replace entire spool under warranty.
    The reel is nice but I recommend upgrading to carbontex drag washers right away, unless you plan on using 12 lb mono or lighter. Line lay is not very tight and is not that good for braid size pe#1.5 or smaller diameters. Stradic fl5000 has much better line lay for small diameter braids (pe#1 to pe#2).

    Thanks for your video, it was very helpful.
    I thought that only Daiwa technicians could disassemble the reels, because only they have the magnetic fluid, but after seeing your video,
    Could I remove the reel without damaging the magnetic fluid?
    On the Daiwa website, it says that the magnetic fluid works better with time of use, so is it necessary to change the magnetic fluid periodically, or should the magnetic seals never be touched and disassembled?

    Hello Tackle Advisors, I have a question for you...can you rank me the reels from best to worst? (stradic FL, shimano twinpower FD, certate LT, vanquish(new), exist LT, stella FJ) - all in size 4000 or 5000
    - also wanted to ask you...is the new stella SW-C worse built than the previous one SW-B? thanks a lot! :)
    Best Regards

  • @Mrlippro1
    @Mrlippro1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Damn that's the prettiest reel I've ever seen. Thanks Nick for the early preview/teardown-excellent as always. Will there be differences between the usdm and jdm versions of this one? I guess no since they're both made in japan?? Also what's the point of the easily removable bottom? Is it so that you can quickly access the gears for applying grease and such yourself?

    DAiwa has done something not right!! If you look at the australian website a good example the 2500 3000 and 4000 has high and low gear ratios . The high has a low braid capacity and the low has a high braid capacity. I would like a high with a high braid capacity so i can use a thicker braid. The new shimano vanquish according to the Japanese site has all three models!! Why can't Daiwa do the same. Give the fishermen what HE wants and not what you think he wants. i am sure the spools are interchangable on the same model sizes. Once again great vid keep up the good work.

      @damieno224 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't forget that here in Aus, and in fact almost any other country that is NOT Japan, it not unusual to find a few distinct differences between the reels released for sale here and the JDM model of the same name. From memory there has been examples from both Shimano (Spheros - forged alloy main gear vs JDM cheap cast zinc) and Daiwa (BG -screw-in handle vs JDM hex-shaft handle).....and in almost all cases that i recall, the JDM model is inferior to that exported to the rest of the world. All i'm saying is, don't place too much weight on what Daiwa sells local, because what gets delivered outside of Japan can be quite different.

    • @costaplenty7482
      @costaplenty7482 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you sir. I have checked every site with the certate lt and none of them have for example the 4000 size with high gear ratio and deep spool. It's either low gear ratio with deep spool( more braid capacity) or high gear ratio and shallow spool( less braid). It is so simple because surely the spools are interchangable give the fishermen what they want a third option ie high gear ratio with deep spool(more braid capacity) . If you see the shimano vanquish 2019 models you have more choices in their sizes ( the third option i was talking about). Please can you tell me if the daiwa spools are interchangable in the same size reels. I am sure they are i just need verification. Thanx mate.@@damieno224

    Is the rear bumper material plastic or is it metal? Looks very thin and flimsy.
    Anyway from saltiga BJ user I’ve heard that that rear gasket usually comes dry from the factory and water get through easily. They recommend to put thin layer of silicone grease over the gasket.

    • @TackleAdvisors
      @TackleAdvisors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't buy a certate LT if it were to be exposed to constant salt spray. (The magseal is located at the top fo the clutch and the line roller bearing in the certate.) Is a Saragosa SW too heavy for you use? If not...Go gosa...That's the most refined and sealed reel available, with the bonus of being simple to maintain. Additionally...IF you service your own gear. The New stradic/ twinpower shimanos are pretty tricky. Something like a spinfisher is a breeze in comparision. albeit not as refined. Constant exposure means you need to maintain appropriately for it to last like new. Something to consider.

    Which one is better DAIWA CERTATE LT or VAN STAAL VR50 sir

    • @TackleAdvisors
      @TackleAdvisors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Two different classes of reels. Certate is perfection... Exist and Stella level refinement. Feels better than the exist due to some dampening resulting from a bit more weight. Vr 50 is designed to be kicked around and likes to play in the sand. The certate can take abuse but it's not a reel that wants to be beaten on. And it's not a reel most people want to maintain regularly if abused regularly
