I saw your TikTok on your craft room and you will need more storage 😁😁😁. Welcome to the card making cult.
hahaha you're not wrong! I'm struggling already
I have not seen any creator do this, but I find it helpful: If when you want to pounce off the excess so your brush is much less saturated, instead of doing it on scrap paper or a glass mat or something else, do it on the INSIDE of your ink's cover. It will stay moist, when you need a bit of ink you can use it and not waste it. Now I realize some aren't concerned about wasting their inks by brushing off, but some of us must watch our pennies so our dollars will take care of themselves. And if you immediately put your brush into the plastic sleeve, it will also stay moist, and you can use that for light shading or coloring. Blessings!
I haven't seen any of the creators that I follow use the technique that you described to "pounce off" excess ink from blending tools... but, I am very thankful for your comment because I, for one, am someone who loves to create but I'm generally on a limited budget so any tips such as this is quite helpful. 😊😊😊
Thank you and happy creating!!
Great job Ralph, I enjoyed this a lot 👍🏻
“Watch our pennies so our dollars will take care of themselves” I’ve never heard that phrase before - but I like it!! I also like your tip !
great tip!!
Great tip!
I can’t believe this is your first TH-cam video. You are a natural. Great voice, great pacing, great tutorial. Wishing you much success in your new venture.
Good luck on your new venture….your card and video was awesome…great job explaining everything and showing us what you are using…. Great idea framing the card front and layering it. Gives nice dimension. Looking forward to your next one…and by the way Cathy Z is an awesome mentor…she has taught me a lot and love her videos. See ya at the next one. Thanks for your time and inspiration.
Really appreciate the pacing and how difficult it is to do to appeal to the most people!!!
Great job, Years ago I used to design and make eye catching ,humorous…business cards for my friends. Before that I put people I knew on national magazine covers with a story line tag and shadow boxed the magazines. I forgot how much fun it was until I saw your video!
Thanks for being real Ralph.
❤
Thanks!
Yes, please! Would love a Cricuit tutorial!
My kids make fun of the way I say water I grew up in Maryland. They grew up in Missouri. Also, I have that stamp and I’m gonna pull it out and use it now. Thanks for the inspiration. On the same note of inspirational videos, finally inspired me to take my Cricut Joy out of the box and use it. I love it. I have an explore air two and a maker, but this is great to take with me on crops or just pulled of the desk and use as well.
Hi Ralph, your first TH-cam card tutorial was excellent. You have a lovely relaxing voice and you explained your process clearly and succinctly. I look forward to watching many more of your videos in the furure. ❤
Content for future: studio tour, organization of your supplies, Top 5 favorite tools, where you get your tools too!
Ralph, rule number one in stamping! There are no mistakes, we’re human, not a machine. That’s what makes our cards so special. Love your videos. Here from Alabama, with lots of family in Texas…. Love Austin. 😊😊😊😊😊😊
That's a DRAMATIC sunset or sunrise!
From one "I quit my job" creator to another. It's terrifying. I wish you the best of luck, it's going to be great. You're gonna be great. The craft community is the best ❤
@KellyTaylorCards you got this. You have a strong fan base.
That was fun Ralph and look forward to seeing more of tutorials. You have a lovely easy manner and I know you'll succeed. Well done! Good luck to you @KellyTaylorCards as well. Look forward to following you as well. 🙂
I would love the bouquet of flower one ... !
I didn’t know about that Cricut machine and have never seen any other maker do a custom sentiment. I would love to see more. Maybe even a series.??? Anyway, welcome and best of luck to you. Lovely card. More, please!
Coming right up!
Yes, please!
I’m originally from TN and we say “wader” instead of “water” also. 😂 - love that you’re Misti is so clean! Mine is always a disaster
I've seen you on Instagram - great to 'meet' you! Wishing you the best as you take this risk and embrace card making full time!
Thank you! 🙂 I must say I watched several of your videos while falling down the rabbit hole
The magic of heat embossing has been the gateway craft tool for a lit of us to get into papercrafts.
Ralph, being Type A is is ok. Just remember, in card making, we don’t do perfect. Just keep enjoying what you’re doing. Welcome to TH-cam. Your card is gorgeous!
Something I have to constantly remind myself!

I think the saying is something like... "It's handmade, not Hallmark" I try repeating this over and over when creating...doesn't always work though lol. Good luck with the channel ! Love from Melb, Australia xx
Congrats on your 1st of many….
I love the edited in apology for the squeaky sounds! 🤣🤣🤣
Love to see other men making cards. I’ve been a Stampin’ Up! Demo for 13 years and there are VERY FEW of us out there. BTW, yes, please do a Joy tutorial on using the Joy. I bought one on Black Friday and it’s still in the box!
I follow you on TikTok and check on you daily to see if you dropped anything new. :) I would love to see a tutorial on Cricket Joy. I have a Silhouette but it's so huge that I rarely use it since my daughter moved back home and took over my craft room as her bedroom. Kids! The Joy looks small enough to keep beside my shrunken work space. I would also love to see your video setup. I struggle with how to get the camera (phone) above my work but also see what I am recording at the same time. Thanks so much for sharing your techniques. I've been cardmaking for 50 years and always love to watch and learn something new.
Hello from another former tech worker
As someone who recently took this leap too, I'm happy to see another face on TH-cam in the same boat! I wish you all the joys from this big decision! You're going to do great! :D
Former tech worker here who just took this leap too!! 👋
Wisconsinites saw water exactly the came way you do so you are not alone my friend!❤
Welcome to the bottom of the rabbit hole! It's pretty crowded down here! I look forward to seeing your creations.
So glad you are on you tube!! Welcome!! There are lots of us out here.
Did a great job, I’m 77 been making cards for years so fun and relaxing. Will be watching you thanks
Another guy crafter/stamper weighing in. Really like your manner and ease of explaining things. Some days i feel like i dont have a creative bone in my body and then i see things like this and know to just "trust the process" Picked up a Cricut Joy today and would really love some tutorials on how to use it. I am terrified......hahahah. thanks so much and now subscribed!
Welcome to the community! I learned something from you. I'm not a card maker, but I definitely need more distress ink pads in the sunset colors. That's what happens, the more new people you watch, the more supplies you need😂!
😂😂😂 lol. That's true!!
My name is Louise i live in Brownwood, Texas.I just started making cards.I love it and i teach other folks.I is a great hobby .Have a great time.God Bless
I didn't even know there was such a small Cricut. So cute. I would love to see that tutorial. Thanks
It's the perfect size for us cardmakers!
I have s Cricut joy but have yet to figure out how to do custom text/sentiments which is why I got it🤦♀️. Tutorial please!
I can relate to the three monitors....and a creative outlet. New sub. Love the hills!!
YES PLEASE, Cricut joy sentiment tutorial: equipment needed & when you use it
Coming up soon!
Been watching your short videos on FB. Saw your announcement there and came here to subscribe. Good luck!
Other video suggestions I’d love to see are a tour of your crafting space, organization, product descriptions, collection of cards you’ve made in the past that may not be posted on Instagram? But will always love a craft with me video🖤
I discovered your videos on shorts, and I loved seeing this in-depth process. I have also just discovered this world, love it❤.
Thanks for sharing your hobby with us. My current hobby is jewelry making, love it so much. Maybe one day I can also quit my day job😅😅😅
Welcome to the handmade card Tribe, Ralph! I have been making cards for several years now and it also brings me enjoyment. People still love getting cards and hand made cards are even more loved. Best wishes on your channel and beautiful card today!
Hi JeffM… this was very nice of you to welcome Ralph to our Paper Crafting community!❤👍🏾✨
You should look up his good morning America interview!! I really liked it!
Thank you for the warm welcome Jeff!
I admire your guts to quit your job. I loved this card. You obviously spent some money on supplies, I hope you find a way to earn an income.
I was there since day one on TikTok.. As a stampin up Demonstrator I love you're content. I totally get the need to paper craft.
congratulations! I think Jennifer Maker has a video here on TH-cam on how to fill in open fonts on Cricut. I love that you are using a stamp set I haven't seen before and to get a masculine take on cardmaking.
The cast of the hills would literally cry from happiness seeing this card!
Great job on your first video. I liked your chit-chat. I've been a cardmaker for over 10 years. I love how each card is a piece of art. I also enjoy the tactile aspect since I work on the computer all day for work. I'd love to see a video of your favorite tools. The circuit joy is a first look for me. Good luck!
🤠 Howdy neighbor!
The heat tool/ embossing powder IS the gateway drug into cardmaking 😂 great card today! Congrats on your leaving corporate ‘merica- thanks for Sharing.
Using a heat tool/embossing powder was also my greeting card intro too. You are totally right about it being the gateway along with embossing folders. It's the wow factor! Lol
Great video and card! Welcome! 👍
I just turned 62 considering on retiring and doing the sane thing . Love making my cards. Throughout the last 15 years of card making I have myself set up with supplies. Of course there’s always new stuff . Congratulations on your new career . Love watching your tik toks.
I'm considering the same thing. I'm 2 years from retirement and I've been crafting sine the fussy cutting days. I love all the tools and machines.
@carolprice5657 - I love how you phrased it as "... doing the sane thing."
I know what you meant, but you're right. Card making is more sane than a lot of things we usually do.
Best wishes to you. ❤
Your video was super. I have a couple tips. I love double sided tape and the roll of foam tape from Dollar tree.
Heat embossing is indeed a magical thing! I remember seeing it the first time and thought Wow!
🎉Congratulations on your exciting new journey and welcome to TH-cam.
❤ 🇦🇺
Excellent job Ralph! 👏👏👏👏 So enjoyed your TH-cam tutorial and so wonderful to see more men getting involved and making cards as well as doing tutorials.
Loved how you explained everything as you went along and especially how your little guy would pop up, 🤣. Thank you also for not repeating yourself as you were explaining what you were doing..
I happened to pull up the TH-cam Channel and there you were, first time seeing you, so welcome!
I live in the rainforest in Costa Rica with my husband, we moved here over 8 years ago and I was so happy I brought my hobby with me for I love making cards. Been doing so over 15 years now.
I look forward to seeing more of your tutorials and cards for I loved ❤️ your card! Beautiful job 😊
Thank you for the very kind welcome Linda 🙂 so glad you found me!
Beautiful card! Great job on your first video too! A+ lol. Tip for that side that still had a little white showing, take a blending brush an use the green on the side, you will never know. Looking forward to more videos. I need all the inspiration I can get. Good luck on your new career path!
Hi, Ralph, from San Antonio. I got into card, making right before the pandemic, and it has become some thing I very much do since the pandemic. I still work, but I do make pretty elaborate cards. I’m more of a die cutter rather than a stamper. I am big on materials from Crafter’s Companion. And I am trying to expand my horizons on different techniques. Making cards is something that has really intrigued me. The people I send them to either love my cards or don’t. And if they don’t, they don’t receive another one. I have subscribed to your channel, and I wish you all the best!
Some won't appreciate a handmade card, and that's ok. The joy for me comes from the creating and gifting. After that, they can do what they please with the card! But I agree, if I find out they didn't appreciate it they probably won't get another. Too much effort to go to waste 😂
Wow! I am totally impressed with you! Great first video, clear, precise and great presence. You have done what so many of us want or wish we could do. I would love to see a circuit video using the original machine. I don't have a new style, fancy one, but I have forbidden my self the luxury of buying one more machine. Good luck on your endeavor, keep those videos coming and get yourself some high power sponsors (and feel great doing it!). 💗💗
What an exciting journey you're on! Congratulations for choosing LIFE over all the "shoulds" that get thrown at us. Living an inspired life means the rest of the world gets to experience the best of you! ❤
Hi Mary, fancy meeting you here 😂Just like you to encourage such an amazing and brave decision! Take care and have a fabulous Sunday. Kind regards from Germany., Nicola
Thank you Mary 🙂I couldn't agree more!
@@nicolalederer9517 hey hey Nicola! YAY! So happy to see you here too! :)
Yesss!! I loveee that you have a TH-cam channel! Excited to catch it early! ☺️🥰😍😍
Love your videos, especially on Instagram, and your cards!!! can you please do a video on supplies and how to use them and the different brands. Also go through your journey of what you got first and what you think are the most essential!
I too got sucked into this hobby watching heat embossing too, over 20 years ago, eek how has it been that long. Love how your card turned out & congrats on taking this brave step & wish you all the best this new journey.
Welcome to TH-cam. I enjoyed your first video and look forward to seeing more. I hope you will also show some of that pile of cards you held in future videos. You have done what most of us do not have the courage or resources to do-to quit a lucrative full-time job and follow your hobby/passion. I assume you will be selling your creations. I wish yu abundant success in your endeavors.
Absolutely love that youre on TH-cam now!!! Please please please do a video on how you do your sentiments with your cricut joy!!
Can't get away from me!
Loved the video. Not sure how, but that’s the first time I’ve seen somebody using a cricket joy so as much as I loved your video, I’m not sure if I’m going to love the rabbit hole you may have just sent me down regarding what looks like a magnificent piece of machinery, lol. If anyone needs me I’ll be searching cricut joy tutorials and reviews for probably the next 20 hours. So much for laundry day! Seriously though, congrats on taking the leap and making a career change. Lord knows I thought about it a million times and if I could figure out a way to be even semi financially successful with my crafting I would do it in a heartbeat.
Love my crafting but those bills need to be paid and my kids need to be fed😂. Please keep making videos, you were great to watch!
Yes, I would love a video about making your sentiments with a Cricut!! I'm interested in knowing how you make the "bubble" around the words.
I'm thrilled you're making longer form content! Your TikToks have been some of my favorite to watch.
Thank you! ❤
Oh Lord! Just what I need 🤦🏻♀️ another hobby to get OBSESSED with!! Good news is I already have a Cricut Maker 3 and all of that stuff 😂
Congratulations and welcome to You Tube and card making. You are brand new to me! I enjoy your approach, and your pop culture references! You are soothing, authentic and unique. It’s great having another man on board! 😊
I love the concept of your card so inspiring! And enamored! No I’m jK you really inspired me with such a unique and beautiful card
Aww thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video 🙂
Very well done friend. Welcome to the never ending rabbit hole. You will find great joy in this adventure. But be careful. You don’t need everything new that hits the market. Take your time and find your niche and buy what you will use. Take it from someone who went way over board thousands of dollars and now 15 yrs later getting rid of tons. I have watched u on insta for a while now. I enjoy your work and look forward to more.
Thank you Tammy! 🙂
Welcome to this wonderful hobby! Like you, I started paper crafting during the pandemic. I absolutely love it! Looking forward to your contributions to our shared hobby 🥳😉🤩
Hello Ralph, I came across your you tube this morning, the title intrigued me. I watched you all the way through, you did quite well actually :). I absolutely love making greeting cards, 3D paper projects ie: boxes etc, recently very excited about making junk journals. I watch several junk journal makers, The Paper Outback, Pam, she has a great sense of humor, an adorable little dog and she is quite knowledgeable about her craft. I've been a Stampin Up demonstrator off and on over past several years, made some lifetime friends. I'm an elderly woman with a buy of disabilities that allows me to have down time, more than most:), I fill that time crafting/sewing and a bit of what intrigues me. I'm still working on the courage to do a FB how to video, as you did on YT, slowwwwly getting there. Welcome to an awesome world of cardmaking. My favorite glue is Glitter Glue (no glutter lol), I love post it note for holding things down in place, if the paper is delicate I just lint it up using a piece of what I'm wearing. ENJOY your new workplace, you'll be so satisfied. Oh! I have a crafters companion glass mat, a regular kitchen glass mat works wonders roo. Remove backing and replace with anything you like, favorite measurement
Thank you for the kind welcome Joy 🙂
Welcome to the hobby, Ralph. Great job on your first TH-cam video. I love your little pop-ups and video reference inserts.
Thank you Sharon! Happy to be here!
You are one talented young man. I’m impressed!
I am so glad you can to TH-cam. After seeing your video shorts through Facebook reels, I have been hoping you would make more videos. I found card making about a couple months ago because I needed an outlet as I work on my doctorate. Now I am addicted. Congratulations on your move from corporate to fun!
It's a slippery slope isn't it!
Hi from the UK. Wishing you loads of luck, and I love your cards xx
YES on the sentiment video!! I have used mine for custom sentiments but yours looks like they cut out like Honeybee Stamps sentiment dies, which I love. They are my fav sentiments.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Your Videos! I LOVE supporting fellow men who craft!!! You will rock this!!!
You couldn't have a better inspiration than Cathy Z who, incidentally, is also a self-proclaimed over-adheser. 🎉Congratulations on following your interests; most people don't have the guts. 👏
Thanks Beth! And I agree, CZ is the best
@@ralphtyndall
"It's handmade not Hallmark" (or something like that lol 😂)
CZ is an amazing cardmaker...also 2 of her good friends..Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner. Quality cardmakers!
Good luck with the channel...Love from Melb Australia xx
Wow. I wish I could quit my job and make cards full-time. Good for you. I do sell my cards at a local gift shop. Keep up the good job.
This is the first time I've watched you...I love how you explain your thinking and place the bitmoji in the corner to giggle about yourself!😂 I'd appreciate a tutorial on how to create your sentiments in Design Space! I'm excited to have come across this video!
Hello, Ralph, so very nice to meet you!
Excellent video and GREAT card! I gave away my Cricket JOY last year after it sat there unused for the previous 2 😢 It made that person extremely happy and that gave me joy 😊
I now wish I still had it. Oh well, fussy cutting is still an option LOL
Thank you for sharing your story with us and good luck with everything 👏❤️🇨🇦
I love that you didn’t just do a boring process chat … but added stories in along the way. My fav type of card video …. like having a chat with a friend. (BTW … your process description was not boring.) Congrats on the stats for your first ever video! 🎉
Just subscribed!! Love your side comments, they crack me up!!
You inspired me to get back into my paper crafts, but now I want to explore card making! Keep being you =)
Perfect timing to find you. In sept I'm starting a class to develop my business plan and start my own hand made craft business. Card making in one of my favorito craft. I git into it very much like you trying different things to get some fun. As an engineer, for 25 years it's been great but now I'm ready for something that feeds my creative free spirit. Your store given a good feeling and courage yo take the leak. Like is too short to work on something that is not your pasión. Thanks and have fun. Love what you do and do what you love😊
Your first video was excellent! Thanks for explaining each step and how to use the tools you selected. The card you made is beautiful and I love the colors you selected for the sky! Well done. You are going to have a bright future in the cardmaking industry!
I love your Tik Tok and Instagram videos! So glad you're on TH-cam now, too 😊
I’ve been making cards about 23 years. I wish I would have had TH-cam back then to watch you. It’s hard to believe you are just starting out. You have all the tools and are really good1 I’ve never used a cricut joy, so you taught me that too. And I forgot I have that Hero Arts stamp set and that I need to pull it out and use it again. Good luck to you and I’ll be checking out some more of your stuff as you keep showing up in my feed!😊
Thanks for the new idea for my resin and beading projects
Welcome to the carmaker community! I've been scrapbooking and card making for 45 years and with all the stuff I've accumulated I'm just starting to get organized and love stampnstorage. Today's stamps really make it easier for you. Back in the day we didn't have any heroescapes and had to make our own layouts and create with many different stamps. A little more for the imagination compared to today simply ready for you to just do. Oh and the space that would mounted stamps take up! I hope Tim Holtz has it inspired you. Even at my age he has inspired me. There's so many good, creative TH-cam channels out there to watch. It's fun seeing a newbie share a new passion as it reignites things I've passed forgotten to do. Look forward to seeing more of your creativity.
I do have a handful of wood block stamps -- but I couldn't imagine having a room full of them!
@ralphtyndall a wall, over 700. One day I'll get to taking them off the blocks but I'm not sure how I'm going to store them. It's very motivating to stand in front of a wall and decide which you're going to use. Today stamps you almost forget about that are filed in a book or a case or a box, out of side out of mind. Motivation is key.
I've been buying stamps for about 50 years and have thousands of them. I love them and can't purge any. Even the thought makes me cringe. Years back I was talked into removing stamps from the wood mounts and regret it. My advice is, DON'T DO IT!
I don’t make cards but I couldn’t not finish watching until the end. Best of luck with your new endeavor.
First of all, I heard that song on my Sirius XM this morning and thought of you after watching your video! Crazy, huh? And your use of “enamored” was hysterical. Right on! that Hero Arts set is beautiful, even though I have zero luck using those clear polymer stamps. Congratulations on freeing yourself from your corporate dumps. I walked away from my career as well. Thanks for sharing your cards with the world. 😊
I love your "Missing you" card with the sheep and UFO.
Hi Ralph! Welcome to the joy and love of creating but more importantly, sharing love with others through cards. It’s a win win! The shopping never ends, so hang in there! Kudos for doing what you love!
Yay for you! Blessings for peace and continued success!
I am so glad you have spread your media wings to TH-cam! I love your cards on Instagram. I really appreciate how you approach combining “traditional” card making with the Cricut Joy. I tend to mentally place certain tools in specific categories (scrapbooking, cardmaking, vinyl products, etc.), so I sometimes have a hard time seeing the cross-connections. Also, I love all of your little pop-ups and inserts throughout the video! I bet it took forever to edit, but, again, it shows how you’re thinking across available media and tools which is an amazing skill! ❤️
Wow! Thank you so much 🙂
Yes hope you do the Cricut joy tutorial how you did the words and cut. Just found your Channel and subscribed. Welcome to the craft world. Great card. Thank you.
Welcome! Gorgeous card. Might I make a suggestion- open your stamp pad to the side of your card, just in case you drop it 😊😊 Been there, done that.
Hi Ralph came across your video while scrolling through you tube, loved the stamp set you used and loved the finished card, I think you have found your calling as you were excellent with the tutorial and your card was amazing. Good luck on this new adventure, I am sure you will have great success.
I never knew how much I need the Joy! I found you just today and am totally “enamored” with your style! Please create a vid on Joy sentiments! ❤
I plan to do a Joy video soon! 🙂
Hi Ralph. I just found your channel and have to catch up! I'm not crafty, I have no color sense at all, but I, too, sit at a computer most of the day if I'm not dealing with phones & customers in the showroom. Then, to "relax" I'm on FB or watching youTube. I needed to do something with my hands. Color-by-number books which was good, but needed something else. I found origami - just little things like Lucky Stars, corner bookmarks and butterflies. I just make them for our customers to take. It's so much fun and our customers enjoy getting something for free. LOL. I look forward to your future videos. :)
Really proud of you for making the leap, and I hope that this new journey is fulfilling and everything you need.
Thank you Melissa 🙂
I have to fill in my letters every time. I have seen tutorials on how to do it with the joy, but they are so complicated that I’d rather just fill them in. Good luck in your new venture.
same! 😂
love the card and your presentation...welcome to the card making community
I have a Cricut Maker. Never wanted a Joy until seeing you do this! So much easier to do the writing on a little desktop Cricut! Oh and as another commenter said, blue Cricut mat for cardstock. Good luck to you. Love your video and thanks for sharing!
To the commenter: You can do everything Ralph is showing with his Cricut Joy with your Cricut Maker (& soooooo much more, especially Print then Cut, not to mention everything you can do with all the Maker Adaptive Tools-it’s my very favorite Cricut machine because of that versatility!!). Just wanted you to know you’ve already got everything in front of you that you need to do sentiments!!!
Congrats Ralph! I’m currently a Software Scrum Master and RTE, been a Product Owner, and IT Project Manager. And been a card maker for a while. Can’t wait to follow your journey! You will be on my must watch list every weekend. Your story is still unwritten!
P.S. I say Water and was born in New Orleans and spent most of my life in Florida (Don’t hold this against me).
Hi there fellow techie! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
What a lovely thing for him to notice and then gift you heat embossing gun. That's great partnering. ❤ Also love to hear the inspiration behind your designs
