  • Some people have asked me if they can use commonly found kitchen oils to condition their leather boots. The short answer is NO. Pure oils like olive and coconut oil can easily oversaturate your leather, leave dark stains, and even attract rodents that like to chew on your footwear! It's best to use a leather conditioner like
    Leather Honey: amzn.to/42gKUui
    Saddle Butter: amzn.to/3LBdWPt
    Shoe Cream: amzn.to/3n3V7dA

@@edcvibes Hi. I just dripped a few drops of olive oil on a piece of leather furniture tonight. Was wondering if you know of a way to "get it out" or fade it...? I'm thinking it's an accident I'm going to have to live with. It's an ottoman that goes with an Eames-like chair... Saddle color... Any tips would be appreciated...☹

Obenaufs is my absolute favorite leather conditioner. Household oils can rot n get nasty. I know you know.

What about using a brush with coconut oil? Come on!

Still penetrates too deep, thats why many conditioners including coconut oil have a blend of wax

Any type of leather is extremely permeable, and will soak up any oils you put on it. When oil first saturates leather, it seeps to the back-to the part you can’t see. Eventually, the oil ends up spreading throughout the leather and naturally resurfaces. Once this happens, your leather will have unsightly oil spots. Canola oil can also turn rancid over time
