    If you ever need more power from your Ego equipment, simply using a bigger battery will give it a power boost. I have the small 2.5Ah battery that comes with the trimmer an I use it for all my equipment (I have almost everything Ego makes), however, sometimes the 2.5Ah battery struggles on the lawnmower if the grass is too tall or wet. I’ve used the bigger 5.0Ah battery and noticed a huge improvement in torque. In fact, some of the Ego lawnmowers and the chainsaw have a turbo boost that’s only possible with the 5.0 or 7.5Ah batteries.

    How would these do for chain link fencing? What would be the best method for it? I moved in to my new house shortly.
    Use these? String trimmer? Round Up? Rock bed?

    • @reelbobshady7458
      @reelbobshady7458  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      michigan0207 a string trimmer will be the most forgiving option around a chain link fence. If you are good with doing a swath of Round Up every 3 wks at the base of your fence and you do a solid job trimming you should have a good barrier away from the fence created. Its always easier to keep up with the trimming to make it look good versus doing it once of 2-3 weeks.

    Please mention if you considered the 11 inch blades or do you think they might add to much weight?
    Thanks!

    • @reelbobshady7458
      @reelbobshady7458  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wayne Essar I did not consider the 11inch blade. However, I have not been that worried about the weight of the Head. I keep my yard extremely short so I lay the Head on the ground when trimming. That really addressing any weight concerns on my end.

    I want to ask you a big favor, could you zoom in on the grass cut, I want to know y it makes a clean cut like a reel mower, that way it doesn't damage the lawn the same way a normal trimmer does! I like all the benefits it gives you, but that factor is a game changer

    • @reelbobshady7458
      @reelbobshady7458  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Luis, I apologize for being late to respond to this. The primary factor in why it makes a clean cut is the scissor action. This tool has two pieces of medal coming together (scissor action) to cut each blade. This provides a cleaner cut, and therefore does less damage to the leaf blade. A regular trimmer rips the blade which does more damage to the leaf blade.

    My main issue with the battery powered equipment is how long (in months/years ) will the batteries last without loosing strength and time of use. If I have to replace battery packs each year or even every 2 years, it’s not worth it with the price per pack 😒

    • @reelbobshady7458
      @reelbobshady7458  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll be interested to see the long term performance of these batteries. I'm with ya. But, I have been overly impressed so far. I did not think the Ego system would perform as well as it has.

    • @mauricewilliams2278
      @mauricewilliams2278 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ReelBob Shady I will try to keep a eye on your channel for a update at the end of the year and the beginning of next year after they have aged a little before I commit. I have impact drills I have to buy battery for now because of failing battery packs😒

    • @kdegraa
      @kdegraa 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve had Ego tools going on 3 years now. When brush cutting grass around a row of trees I’d get around 40 trees done on a 2.5 amp hour battery with an out of the box battery. I’m still cutting grass around that many trees now. Ego batteries apparently have a fairly advanced battery management system that will manage the charge for maximum battery life.
      Cutting timber with a battery powered chainsaw really drains a battery.

      @@kdegraa That would not work well for giving lawn edges a precision cut. I do see the value in it for cutting down overgrown brush areas though.

    • @kdegraa
      @kdegraa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SuperTA329 My place is a farm so I do not care about lawn edges. I have around 1000 trees in an orchard I'm trying to keep the grass down around them. Most people say spray the grass with herbicides. I'm not keen on this and would rather cut the grass than spray. Right now I'm cutting the grass with a brush cutter blade powered by the Ego multi tool head. Its scary work as the fast spinning blade can jump if it hits the ground and could damage or kill a valuable tree.
      I'm hoping this rotocut attachment will make cutting long grass around the trees a bit easier and less nerve wracking.

    Using mine on a 40V 4.0Ah RYOBI and it probably lasted me less than 30 minutes - think there’s something wrong w my battery coz it was down to 1 bar out of the box new (not a good indication for a Li-Ion battery)… I had HEAVY growth… as in, can’t-find-where-the-dirt-meets-the-pavement growth. Had been on vacation. Should do a video on how this thing cuts through overgrowth.
